Monument Records, the country label whose artists include Walker Hayes, Brandon Ratliff and Tigirlily Gold, is folding, Sony Music confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
Tigirlily Gold is moving over to Sony Music Nashville, though the status of the rest of Monument’s roster hasn’t been clarified yet. Most of the staff is departing, and the remaining active aspects of Monument’s business will be overseen by Sony Music Nashville, Sony said.
Veteran country music executive and talent manager Jason Owen had revived Monument eight years ago alongside producer Shane McAnally, The Tennessean reported at the time. As The Hollywood Reporter first reported on Sunday, Owen — who also who manages Kacey Musgraves and Kelsea Ballerini through his company Sandbox — is now taking on Billie Eilish and Finneas as their manager as well. Billie Eilish is taking on new management, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The global superstar has enlisted veteran talent manager Jason Owen, whose Sandbox Entertainment reps Kacey Musgraves and Kelsea Ballerini. Owen will be managing Finneas, Eilish’s brother and longtime producer, as well.
Eilish and Finneas had been represented by Danny Rukasin and Brandon Goodman of Best Friends Music Management for the past decade. The two played a key role in steering the singer’s ascent from viral sensation to award-winning artist, registering over 100 million Spotify subscribers and a string of top 10 hits during their time together, including the chart-topping “Bad Guy,” “Everything I Wanted,” “Therefore I Am” and “Birds of a Feather.”

Hayley Williams has been having a blast going on musical side quests across Nashville. She’s joined both Finneas and Cyndi Lauper in recent months. Her latest included a surprise appearance with Deftones, where she joined the band on stage to lend some striking vocals and headbanging to their performance of “Minerva.”
The pop-up doubled as a reunion for Williams and Deftones, who last performed together over a decade ago. In 2010, the Paramore front woman joined the band at Luxembourg’s Rock-a-Field festival for “Passenger,” filling in for Maynard James Keenan.

Here’s a toast to the happy couple. For Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, turning their love story into an album is the least they could do. I Said I Love You First is a valentine that delivers exactly what it promises — a pop icon and a superstar producer celebrating a real-life romance that we all can root for. As Selena once sang, it’s just like the Battle of Troy — there’s nothing subtle here. These two crazy kids are young, they’re in love, and they can’t...

Hans Zimmer is one of the most legendary composers in film history, but there's one genre of film he'd rather not compose music for at all. The German composer is decidedly not a fan of musicals, despite having composed the score for one of Disney's most successful musicals of all time. He spoke about being a musical hater with Collider's Steve Weintraub at a Q&a for his new concert film, Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond in the Desert.
Zimmer discussed scoring The Lion King, which was later turned into an enormously successful stage musical:
I said to them, “I hate musicals.” They said, “We guarantee you it'll never be a musical.” But we had all these pieces left over and we went back to Africa and recorded the second album, Rhythm of the Pride Lands, which were the leftover bits, and we got into big trouble because we...

Along with the arrival of their new joint album, I Said I Love You First, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have dropped a new music video for their song, “Younger and Hotter Than Me.”
The solemn, atmospheric ballad finds Gomez grappling with the anxieties of aging, especially as a former partner moves on: “We’re not getting any younger/But your girlfriends seem to,” she sings at one point. While the lyrics contend with this idea in terms of romantic relationships, the music video, directed by Jake Schreier, appears to...

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have released their new album, I Said I Love You First.
The 15-track album — released through Smg Music, Friends Keep Secrets and Interscope Records — is the couple’s first collaborative album. It chronicles and celebrates their love story, coming together “organically as a direct result of the comfort that they both felt when working together creatively,” according to a release. The couple announced their engagement late last year.
I Said I Love You First includes the latest music video from the pair, “Younger and Hotter Than Me.” The cinematic and melancholy video follows Gomez around a studio lot, seemingly reflecting on her life of young stardom. The video often finds Gomez returning to an abandoned set on a soundstage.

Hans Zimmer should be a noun-turned-verb, like Google, or at the very least a proper noun like Kleenex that now just means all tissues, name brand or not. When we’re talking about composing timeless scores (now known for the purposes of this review as Zimms), there are few who rival the scope and power of his work. On March 19 in select theaters, audiences will be treated to one of those rare experiences that truly exemplifies how much this music has meant to entertainment as a whole in Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond in the Desert. Chances are, you live with these musical notes pumping through your veins, and it could be so second nature you don’t even realize that with every squeeze of your heart, you’re shuttling themes from Pirates of the Caribbean from your aorta to your extremities, or receiving oxygen from notes of Gladiator backinto your right atrium.

The Oscars are ready to toast the celebration with a martini — shaken, not stirred.
Variety has learned exclusively that the ceremony will perform a special tribute of the iconic songs of the James Bond franchise at Sunday’s Academy Awards in honor of longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who received Honorary Oscars at the past Governors Awards. The Academy declined to comment.
While details remain scarce, it is unclear whether the tribute will focus solely on Oscar-winning and nominated songs or take a broader approach to celebrating all 26 Bond themes. However, according to sources, the tribute will include what is being described as an assembly of surprising and immense talents.
If the Academy opts for a comprehensive retrospective, it could offer long-overdue recognition to classics such as Shirley Bassey’s “Diamonds Are Forever,” which, despite being considered one of the franchise’s finest musical moments, was overlooked...

The Wild Robot‘s Oscar prospects may have gotten a boost on Wednesday as the Society of Composers and Lyricists announced its sixth annual award winners. The animated feature won Best Original Score for a Studio Film, defeating three of its Oscar rivals: Emilia Pérez, Wicked, and Conclave. The last of this year’s Best Score Oscar nominees, The Brutalist, competed in another category at the Scl Awards, winning Best Original Score for an Independent Film.
So does that mean the Oscar will come down to The Wild Robot and The Brutalist? In the Scl Awards’ previous five years, they agreed with the Oscars three times: Joker (2019), Soul (2020), and Oppenheimer (2023). In 2021, the Scl voted for Encanto (studio) and The Green Knight (independent), but the Oscar went to Dune. And for 2022, the Scl picked Nope (studio) and Everything Everywhere All at Once (independent), while the Oscars opted for All Quiet on the Western Front.

No one lauds the “Wicked” quite like Billie Eilish — at least when she is in full Ariana Grande-fangirl mode, as she was in interviewing her longtime singing heroine after a screening of the movie musical in Hollywood on Tuesday night. The Q&a, held for SAG members at the Directors Guild of America’s theater, had Eilish doing the moderating at the personal behest of the film’s Oscar-nominated Glinda.
“My team was like, ‘Who would be a cool person to do this? Who’s your dream person?'” Grande said at the outset. “I was like, ‘Billie, [but] she’s not gonna say yes.’ She’s too busy. She’s too fabulous. It’s too much. But she said ‘Yes,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, shit. Now I’m so nervous.'”

Give it up for the team behind the 2025 Grammys. Amazing winners — finally, Beyoncé takes home Album of the Year! — and the CBS team admirably focused the telecast on the recovery efforts for the Los Angeles fires and movingly showed how crucial the area is to the music industry, right from the jump.
“This city has just been through one of the largest natural disasters in American history,” host Trevor Noah said in his opening remarks during the February 2 ceremony in L.A. “Los Angeles is where Billie Eilish and Finneas turned a small bedroom in Highland Park into a Grammy-winning studio. The clubs of LA inspired Chappell Roan to create the anthem that is ‘Pink Pony Club.’ … To kick off the show, let me tell you about a band that has L.A. in their DNA.”
Noah went on to tell the audience at home about Dawes, an L.A.

Our long national nightmare is over: Beyoncé finally won Album of the Year. The Grammys desperately needed her to win this award, so the night felt like a true celebration. The entire 2025 Grammys ceremony was a “just give Beyoncé her damn Album of the Year already” countdown. It all goes back to the curse of Morning Phase in 2015, when she lost to an obscure Beck album, the biggest upset in Grammy history. Over the past decade, as she lost for Lemonade and Renaissance, there’s been a sense that Bey...

Before we launch into this Grammys 2025 edition of Snubs and Surprises, let’s answer one question that may come up right at the outset: How can we characterize Beyoncé winning album of the year as a “surprise” when we repeatedly predicted it, as many other prognosticators did? There’s an easy answer for that: Although we rightfully called it, we were very, very, very, very nervous about it. We can relax now. At least one thing has been righted in this chaotic world, so let’s take a deep breath and take the “surprise” of actual perceived justice being rendered while we can get it. Now, onward!
Snub: Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish getting shut out. Are there two more popular and beloved pop stars in the world right now? There are not. And that is why Recording Academy voters will sleep soundly tonight — and assume that both Taylor and...

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars paid homage to Los Angeles with a performance of “California Dreamin’” at the 2025 Grammys.
After a harrowing video detailed the effects of the wildfires on the L.A. community, the “Die With a Smile” singers performed a stripped down rendition of The Mamas & the Papas’ 1965 track.

Grammys host Trevor Noah commended their tribute, reminding “to donate what you can” to MusiCares fire relief, an effort created by the Recording Academy to aid those affected by the wildfires.

Trevor Noah is back to emcee duties for the 2025 Grammys.
The former Daily Show host took the Grammys stage for the fifth time on Sunday night. (He also exec produced the show.)
At the top of the show, Noah was quick to note how, despite the show airing live from Los Angeles, music’s biggest night is coming under “unusual” circumstances.
“A few weeks ago we weren’t sure that this show would even happen. I mean, you don’t need me to tell you this, but the city has just been through one of the largest natural disasters in American history. Tens of thousands of people have lost their homes, entire neighborhoods have been erased. Schools, local businesses, and entire communities have burned to the ground. Thankfully, due to the heroic efforts of firefighters, the fires have now been contained,” he said.
“And despite all the devastation, the spirit of the city has emerged.
