Bruce Avery(III)

Born in Annapolis, Maryland. Served as a professional firefighter before becoming involved in living histories in the 1980's. Experience in moving troops on historical battlefields led to a position as one of the coordinators of reenactors / extras and serving as a background extra for the Ronald Maxwell film "Gettysburg" released by Warner Bros. in 1993. This led to participation in The History Channel's "Civil War Combat" series in several roles, including Col. John T. Wilder in the episode "Chickamauga" in 1999. Appeared in an Antietam Battlefield TV commercial for the Maryland Dept. of Tourism, and also in one of the challenges in Season 8 Episode 2 of the TV series "The Amazing Race" in 2005. Has also contributed to National Park Service films, portraying Gen. Gouverneur K. Warren in Historical Films, Inc.'s documentary "Chancellorsville" and Gen. Alexander S. Webb in "Saving the Battle of Gettysburg Cyclorama." Appears as Jim Ed Matthews in the film "Before The Lighthouse."
