The following contains heavy spoilers for season 2 of "Silo."
"Silo" is one of the best sci-fi shows of the past decade, one with a compelling mystery and exquisite worldbuilding that feels similar to the constant lore drops and plot twists of "Attack on Titan."
The show takes place in a dystopian future where most of the world has been destroyed and humanity wiped out. The only remnants of civilization live in an underground silo hundreds of levels deep. The show deals with the simple idea of knowledge and how hard it is to kill human curiosity no matter how much those at the top use regulations to keep the population under control. At the end of the first season, former engineer now sheriff, Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) left her silo (a death sentence) and actually managed to survive her walk outside, eventually finding another silo nearby.

After an incredible third installment, the hit sci-fi horror series From was renewed for a 10-episode fourth season in November 2024, and fans have been buzzing with excitement ever since. Everyone wants to know what new horrors await the residents of the nightmarish town, but unfortunately, we won't be seeing this beloved show return to our screens until sometime next year.
From season 4 was confirmed for a 2026 release when the renewal was announced. Production on the fourth season is slated to begin this year in Nova Scotia, where the previous three seasons were shot, but a filming start date has not been revealed. Also, given that this show heavily utilizes special effects, we can likely expect a longer post-production period. This is likely the reason why we won't be seeing From season 4 until next year. It's the lengthy filmmaking process. While this is extremely disappointing for fans, we're expecting the wait...

A gripping dose of post-apocalyptic suspense from Apple TV+, Silohas utilized its brilliant cast, breathtaking production value, and its engrossing story of survival and power to deliver one of the best television series of the 2020s thus far. Set amid a ruined and toxic future, the series follows Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) as she uncovers a duplicitous plot at the core of the underground bunker that could shatter the illusion that the survivors live under.

Silo is a dystopian sci-fi series created by Graham Yost (Justified) based on a series of novels by Hugh Howey. The season 2 finale aired on January 17 and fans are eager to find something to fill the void until the third season airs on AppleTV+.
The series is set in a dystopian future and follows a community that resides in an underground silo. The group is ruled by a set of regulations implemented years ago that were believed to be established for their own protection, but everyone has been living like this for so long that the original reasons have been lost. Silo has a 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been praised for its worldbuilding, thrilling story, and Rebecca Ferguson's incredible performance as engineer-turned-sheriff Juliette Nichols.

Editor's note: The below contains spoilers for the Silo Season 2 finale. Now that Silo Season 2 has aired its electrifying finale, it's safe to call this masterful accomplishment one of the best series the streaming world has to offer. Arguably the most cerebral of Apple TV+'s sci-fi dramas, Silo's sophomore outing builds upon the foundation laid by its debut season by splitting the action between protagonist Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) exploring the grim dangers of a different silo, and the precarious uprising brewing in her home. Silo is a character study first and foremost, and expanding the scope of its dystopic world allows new faces to emerge and supporting figures to receive more screen time.

The following contains spoilers for Silo Season 2, now streaming on Apple TV+.
The sci-fi series Silo is a scarily familiar reality in which the world was presumably destroyed by nuclear weapons, leaving a small fraction of the population in underground silos. Over hundreds of years, rebellions have come and gone, all of them failing on a larger scale. In the current era of the series' world, the one that will supposedly win is led by a tremendous example of female heroism on television.
Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette Nichols on Silo, an engineer from the lower levels of Silo 18 who's promoted to sheriff to discover the truth behind her late boyfriend's death and the secrets of the silo. While initially presenting an unwavering resistance to becoming a symbol of hope among her people, Juliette demonstrates the admirable bravery that wakes people up from their tolerant slumber. The following contains spoilers for Silo Season 2, Episode 10, "Into the Fire."
The Silo Season 2 finale featured a confrontation between Rebecca Ferguson's Juliette Nichols and Tim Robbins' Bernard Holland. But only one of them will make it to the next season.

"I will say that in that final confrontation between them, every word is important," he said. "There are certain keywords that you'll see come back big in Season 3. I will also say to those who have read the books, Bernard dies at the end of the book, he's gone. So I would just say that. No one is safe in this show, as we showed in Season 1."

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the Silo season 2 finale.
Silo's Martha Walker (Harriet Walter) fools Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins) in a clever way during season 2. Earlier in the season, Bernard blackmails Walker into being a spy for him on the Mechanical level. While Walker does not want to cooperate, she feels she has to, as it is seemingly the only way to save her ex-wife, Carla (Clarke Perkins). With a camera installed in Walker's workshop and her instructed not to leave, Bernard is seemingly privy to Mechanical's plan in Silo season 2.
After watching Walker talk with Knox (Shane McRae), Shirley (Remmie Milner), and other Silo characters, Bernard believes that Mechanical's plan revolves around blowing up Silo 18's generator. In response, Bernard orders nearly every raider to be sent to Mechanical to quell the rebellion and disarm the bomb. It is not until Silo season 2's ending that Bernard...

Silo showrunner Graham Yost explains how the show's darkly lit scenes will be improved on in season 3. Critics' reviews for Silo season 2 were overwhelmingly positive, leading to a 96% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, one frequent criticism of the Apple TV+ series is how darkly lit many scenes are, which can make it difficult to watch at times. This is largely due to the nature of a story that takes place almost entirely in underground silos.
During a conversation with TVLine, Yost shares that the lighting will be better in Silo season 3. This improvement is rooted in more of the story taking place in outside locations, as season 3's flashbacks reveal what happened that led to the creation of the silos. Yost did clarify that “We do go back to Silo 17” in season 3 and to "remember, they’ve got a very big power issue there,...

This has been challenging for Juliette since the suit she was wearing when she arrived is now badly torn and can no longer protect her from Silo's toxic outside world.

Silo showrunner Graham Yost explains why season 2 made a significant change from the books with Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) and Lukas Kyle (Avi Nash). After becoming allies in season 1, season 2 sees Juliette and Lukas separated, as Juliette tries to figure out how to return to Silo 18, and Lukas becomes the It Shadow to Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins). Spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episode 10, "Into the Fire," plus the discussion of attempted suicide.
The arc of Tim Robbins' Bernard Holland throughout Silo season 2 is something of an emotional rollercoaster, and his fate in the season finale will invariably impact the show's future. As a key member of the Silo cast since the very first episode, Bernard has long been a compelling character who sits somewhere on the scale between pragmatic leader and textbook villain. Silo season 2's ending, "Into the Fire," only enhances the ambiguous standing of Silo 18's mayor, which makes the episode's dramatic twists all the more interesting.
Although his decision-making can be frustratingly narrow-minded, this only contributes to Bernard's status as one of Silo's best characters. It's impossible to watch the show and not be enraptured by his storyline. Despite there being a few instances that would lead others to give up, Silo 18's mayor...

With that said, let’s jump straight into some spoilers from the book to see what we can expect from...

Silo season 3 has just gotten some casting news, with a Game of Thrones star and a Fear Street franchise star joining the upcoming season. Serving as an adaptation of the books by author Hugh Howey, the hit Apple TV+ show premiered in 2023, following Rebecca Ferguson's Juliette as she unravels a mystery about the underground silo in which she and the last humanity reside. Ahead of the season 2 finale, it was confirmed that Silo season 3 was a go, in addition to a fourth season, which would bring the series to an end.
TheWrap now reports that both Ashley Zukerman (Fear Street) and Jessica Henwick (Game of Thrones) are set to join Silo season 3 as series regulars. Zuckerman joins the show as a "young and hungry congressman" named Daniel, while Henwick will be playing Helen, a "whip smart reporter." Both characters appear during...

The following contains spoilers for the "Silo" season 2 finale, "Into the Fire."
Apple TV+ is home to many of the best sci-fi shows currently on the airwaves. Whether it's the alternate history glee of "For All Mankind" or the joy of watching Lee Pace as an immortal emperor fighting a bunch of assassins while completely naked in the epic "Foundation" or the (relatively) more grounded "Severance," there's something for every kind of sci-fi fan on Apple TV+.
Now, one of the streamer's best sci-fi shows has finished its second season — "Silo." Created by Graham Yost and based on the book series of the same name by Hugh Howey, "Silo" takes place in a dystopian future where the remnants of humanity live inside a giant underground silo hundreds of stories tall. Narratively, the show centers on Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson), an engineer who becomes engulfed in a huge conspiracy as she...

The following contains spoilers for Silo Season 2, Episode 10, "Into the Fire," which premiered Friday, Jan. 17 on Apple TV+.
At the end of Silo Season 2, Episode 9, Lukas Kyle interacts with a voice known as the Algorithm at the bottom of Silo 18. The Algorithm warns him that if he tells anyone about what he's encountered in the underground secret tunnel, they'll implement the "Safeguard Procedure." While sharing his discovery with Bernard Holland or any other person would've likely gotten him closer to answers, Lukas was so horrified that he kept it a secret.
This wasn't the first time the Safeguard was mentioned in Silo. Lukas decoded some lines of Salvador Quinn's cryptic letter per Bernard's request, one of which claims that an ominous "they" created the Safeguard. Viewers who have decoded the entire letter shared their own findings via Reddit, revealing that the Safeguard is anything but what its name suggests and...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episode 10!Despite being separated from her friends and family for Silo season 2, Juliette's fate in the finale sets up a major change for the show's future. Rebecca Ferguson leads Silo's cast, reprising her role as lead character Juliette Nichols. While the debut season follows her home, Silo 18, season 2 features two settings. After being sent out to "clean" in Silo season 1's ending, Juliette makes her way to nearby Silo 17, where she encounters a mysterious vault-dweller named Solo.
It's clear from the start that Solo might be hiding some aspects of his identity, but in the end, he helps Juliette get home. Silo season 2's ending sees conflict boil over in Silo 18, which in turn, forces Juliette to get back home. The Apple TV+ series Silo had fans gripped from the get-go when it premiered in May 2023. Based on the Hugh Howey novel trilogy Wool, Shift, and Dust, the sci-fi dystopian drama is about residents of an underground silo following an apocalyptic event. No one understands what happened, and they believe that the Earth above is an uninhabitable wasteland. But when engineer Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) starts to investigate, she suspects untruths, secrets, and mysteries that she is desperate to uncover.
The series returned in November 2024 for its second season, and the setting expanded to include another silo along with new characters. Season 2 ends with an epic cliffhanger that has fans relieved to know that third and fourth seasons are coming.

It's been a quite a journey for Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) and the rest of the characters on Apple TV+'s Silo, but at long last we've arrived at the season finale. In last week's penultimate episode, "The Safeguard," we finally learned the real identity of Juliette's companion Solo (Steve Zahn). Meanwhile, the conflict in Silo 18 reached a boiling point, while new It shadow Lukas Kyle (Avi Nash) made a discovery deep in the bowels of the structure. What information did Lukas get from his strange encounter? And will Juliette make it home in time to stop the people she loves from dying in a bloody rebellion?
Silo has built up questions all season, and here at the finish line we finally get some answers...as well even more questions. As always, there will be Spoilers beyond this point.

Yes, it is official, friends: Silo seasons 3 and 4 are indeed happening at Apple TV+. Following the critically acclaimed debut of season 2, the streaming service announced that the hit sci-fi drama is officially renewed through season 4, with the fourth season slated to bring a thrilling end to Hugh Howey’s three-part, New York Times bestselling trilogy of dystopian novels.
Silo tells the post-apocalyptic story of the last 10,000 people on Earth. Their homes are silos built a mile deep underground to protect them from a toxic, deadly world outside. But here’s the thing: No one really knows if that’s the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, and they don't know when and why the silos were built. What they do know is that those who allow their curiosity to get the best of them and start digging for answers face fatal consequences.

Silo season 2 is at an end, and it left us with a whole lot of questions. "Into the Fire" was a powerful episode for Apple TV+'s post-apocalyptic science fiction series, featuring at least one major death as well as a violent clash for the fate of Silo 18. And that's not even getting into the major cliffhanger for Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson), who was last seen diving to the floor in a small room full of fire.
But by far the most mind-bending turn of the finale was its final scene. After flames engulf the airlock where Juliette and Bernard (Tim Robbins) are trapped, we cut to black. When the show resumes, it's in a far more alien — yet familiar — landscape. Yes, Silo has brought us back out to the world as we know it, leaping into the past to show Washington D.C. before the apocalypse. There, we meet...

Silo season 2 is at an end, and now our wait begins for season 3. In this case, that wait is going to be even more excruciating than usual, because the Silo finale ended on some serious cliffhangers. "Into the Fire" saw the rebellion in Silo 18 reach a breaking point, with the uprising storming the gate in an attempt to go outside in the belief that the surface world is actually beautiful and green, and that they've been lied to all their lives.
They're right about the lies, but not about the surface being habitable. At the last minute, Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) returns and warns her friends that it isn't safe to go outside. As she goes to enter the silo, she has a final showdown with Mayor Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins), where they level with each other in a way they never have before. But then the door to the...

Not even in his wildest dreams would someone like Bernard Holland have thought that he would be played by the common folks from Mechanical. All hell broke loose for the It head when he found that the rebels had blown up the stairs from Level 92 to Level 90 to trap his army of raiders in the Down Deep. His regime was slowly crumbling, and Bernard couldn’t do anything to save it. But that wasn’t the end of his worries. [Spoiler Alert] A final blow hit him when his shadow, Lukas Kyle, whispered in his ear that he had cracked Salvador Quinn’s code and found out about the “safeguard procedure” that was going to wipe out the entirety of Silo 18. This was the moment when Bernard Holland realized his end was nigh. If he’s going to stay back in the silo, then he’ll be killed by his own people,...

The second season of Silo leaves us with more questions than answers. The ending of episode 9 informed us about a “safeguard procedure” designed to wipe out an entire silo. In the season 2 finale, Solo, aka Jimmy Conroy, further revealed that there was a hidden pipe on Level 14, the same floor where all Judicial offices are located. Once the “safeguard” is set off, this pipe coming from outside the silo releases enough poison to kill thousands of people in a matter of seconds. But Jimmy’s mother, Gwen Conroy, who worked in Judicial, had located the pipe, and his parents had capped it to stop the safeguard from killing the residents of Silo 17. This, I believe, was the same pipe that Lukas Kyle had seen on the original blueprints of the silos on Quinn’s hard disk. He had actually spotted two lines on the blueprints; one line was going into Level 14, which,...

Silo season 2’s ending takes us back to the late 2040s, Washington, DC, when the world was still a “happy place,” or, you can say, on the brink of its destruction. [Spoiler Alert] The last scene of the show introduced us to Donald Keene, a freshman congressman representing the 15th district of Georgia. In the real world, there are only 14 congressional districts in Georgia, so maybe it got one more by the 2040s. Before walking into a restaurant, Donald stopped near the entrance to get himself checked for “radiation level,” which suggested the impending radiological warfare has begun at some scale, or some countries like Iran are already testing these weapons. The security guard who scanned Donald was standing outside, even in the heavy downpour. This could imply that this kind of “radiation” spread from one irradiated victim to another, and it was being taken very seriously. Or maybe it was just...

Silo season 2 ended on a massive cliffhanger without actually revealing the fate of its protagonist – Juliette Nichols, and her sworn enemy – Bernard Holland. In the season finale, the two old foes came face to face one last time, not to kill each other, but to share a very dark secret about their silo. The underground bunker was never meant to protect them, but to contain them. They were nothing but expendable seeds that could easily be disposed off with the push of a button. But Juliette wouldn’t let the Founders kill her friends in Silo 18. She had found a way to override the “safeguard procedure,” but before she could explain it to Bernard, she saw the airlock door quickly closing, which was why she hurried into the chamber, and Bernard went after her to warn her about the flames. But alas, it was too late. So, what actually...

It all comes down to the Season 2 finale of Silo - a culmination of Juliette Nichols’s (Rebecca Ferguson) desperate attempts to survive in the abandoned Silo 17, and the rebellion’s secret plans finally taking full effect against Bernard Holland’s (Tim Robbins) tyrannical reign. Throughout the sophomore season, Juliette has gone through every near-death situation imaginable. From getting the bends after being forced to repair a pump, being shot in the chest with an arrow, to most recently suffering from decompression sickness after going underwater, her efforts have not gone in vain. Finally retrieving her suit from Solo (Steve Zahn), whose real name is Jimmy, Juliette is about to make a break for it to Silo 18 in the season finale.

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episode 9.
The dynamic between Silo's Mayor Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins) and Lukas Kyle (Avi Nash) undergoes an important shift in season 2, episode 9, "The Safeguard." During Silo season 1's ending, Lukas is sent to the mines by Bernard. His fortune changes significantly in season 2 when Bernard makes Lukas his It Shadow. Instead of toiling in the mines, Lukas instead gets to live comfortably while having access to information that no one else in Silo 18 but Bernard possesses.
Bernard does not do this out of the goodness of his heart but because he wants Lukas to decode a letter from Salvador Quinn. Bernard is relying on Quinn's letter to help him destroy the current rebellion that is forming, and he knows...

This article includes spoilers for Hugh Howey's "Silo" novels.
Rebecca Ferguson's role in Silo season 3 is clarified by showrunner Graham Yost, with the book adaptation raising questions. In the books on which the sci-fi thriller is based, Juliette Nichols' role is still important but presented somewhat differently. For instance, in the second novel, Shift, the character that Ferguson plays doesn't appear until the last part. That has caused some speculation about how much Ferguson will appear in the already-confirmed Silo season 3.
In comments to TVLine, Yost gave some spoilers about the Shift novel. In the process, however, he confirmed that Ferguson would still be present and that the Mission: Impossible franchise star would still have a significant part to play in the upcoming installment of the hit thriller series. Ever since the show introduced us to the Algorithm, there’s a question that has been bugging me constantly. Why the hell doesn’t the Algorithm make an appearance in Silo 17? I mean, the ninth episode of season 2 made it abundantly clear that it has its eyes and ears everywhere in the silo, even in the underground tunnel. And since it’s common knowledge that all silos are built in a similar way, then why isn’t there any hint of the Algorithm in Silo 17? Well, I have a theory, but I can’t discuss it without bringing up a few points from the second book of the Silo trilogy. So, if you are game for that, then follow me through, and if you’re not, then you have already been warned, and this might be a good time to save yourself from the spoilers ahead.

Ferdinand Kingsley plays George Wilkins in Silo season 1, and although his presence is heavily reduced after that, he continues to have a very specific role in the dystopian sci-fi saga. The sheer size of the Silo cast means it can be difficult for every character to make a lasting impression. However, although Kingsley only ever appeared in five episodes, his influence on the fate of Silo 18 and the show's larger story can't be ignored.
George's connection to Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson), is perhaps the most notable factor in his introduction to Apple TV+'s Silo. The son of former members of the Flamekeepers, George Wilkins had always been that curious guy. His parents had dedicated their lives to safeguarding the relics and keeping the memories of the silo alive so that the future generations of Silo 18 don’t forget about the era before the Great Uprising, also sometimes referred to as the Before Times. In Silo season 1, George Wilkins, out of curiosity, asked his lover, Juliette Nichols, that if these things [relics] aren’t worth risking one’s life over, then why do the authorities make it a risk to the residents’ lives to have them? In simple words, if you have to hide anything, then it really must mean something, isn’t it? So, Wilkins, like many other rebellious souls before him, tried to solve the mystery around Silo’s creation and its true purpose. But unfortunately, he didn’t get even close to the truth.

But even though it was an achievement for the bright Lukas, Bernard Holland wasn’t happy with his findings, as he already knew most of the things Lukas had decoded so far. [Spoiler Alert] I am pretty sure that, being the head of It, he even knows about the hidden tunnel at the bottom of the metallic structure, which had been purposely erased from the altered blueprints of the silo. So, is that all? Was this the secret that Judge Mary Meadows and Salvador Quinn took to their graves? No, not actually. The tunnel is merely a deception.
