One of TV's best comedians just weighed in on The Naked Gun reboot, and things are looking bright for the franchise. Andy Samberg told ScreenRant the film is best experienced in packed theaters. "Everyone I've seen it with all walked out saying the same thing, which is, like, 'I didn't realize how much I missed that feeling of a pure, silly comedy that's all jokes, wall to wall, in a theater,'" he said. Samberg is no stranger to slapstick and improv, having starred for seven years in Saturday Night Live.

Samberg is also part of the comedy trio The Lonely Island, along with Jorma Taccone and The Naked Gun director Akiva Schaffer.

Comedy Central has announced that Season 27 of South Park will now premiere on Wednesday, July 23, at 10:00 p.m. Et/Pt. The second season of Digman! will premiere immediately following at 10:30 p.m. Et/Pt.

South Park, the hit animated franchise that celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, debuted on Comedy Central on August 13, 1997. Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny were first introduced in the animated short The Spirit of Christmas, and from there, they were launched into television history.

The season two premiere of Andy Samberg’s Digman! is being pushed out two weeks to Wednesday, July 23, just like the season 27 premiere of South Park. Digman! airs in Comedy Central’s 10:30 p.m. time slot, immediately after South Park at 10.

South Park’s season 27 premiere was delayed on Wednesday. The news came amid a streaming-rights battle between the creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and the channel’s parent company, Paramount Global.

Parker and Stone are not happy about the delay, and they made that known.

The Comedy Central animated series “Digman!” is the latest show to shift its premiere at the basic cabler.

The second season of “Digman!” was slated to debut on July 9, but it will now premiere two weeks later on July 23 at 10:30 p.m. Et/Pt. The move keeps the series in line with the launch of Season 27 of “South Park,” which also recently shifted its premiere date to July 23.

No sign yet that the “Digman!” creators are planning to release a statement to address the move, but “South Park’s” Trey Parker and Matt Stone had plenty to say, particularly regarding the Paramount-Skydance merger. In a statement posted online shortly after the premiere date move was announced, Parker and Stone said, “This merger is a shit show and it’s fucking up ‘South Park.’ We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.

2005 to 2012 was very much a golden era for "Saturday Night Live", and a big part of that can be credited to Andy Samberg. Netflix is reportedly looking to embark on a brand-new expedition to the Land of the Lost after closing a deal with Legendary Television, the studio behind Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and HBO epic Dune: Prophecy, to bring the beloved property back to the small screen. The project is said to be in the very early stages of development, with the plan being to reboot the cult-classic sci-fi series, which aired for three seasons on CBS from 1974 to 1976, following the adventures of the Marshall family in a strange, pre-historic world.

The original series was created by David Gerrold and produced by Sid and Marty Krofft, who co-developed the popular Saturday morning children's show with Allan Foshko. Marty died in 2023, but his brother Sid, together with Marty's daughter, Deanna Krofft, who is the VP of Development and Production at their company, will reportedly produce Netflix's new take on the Land of the Lost.

Netflix is ready to plunge into a classic science-fiction adventure with a reboot of Sid and Marty Krofft’s 1974 TV series Land of the Lost. According to Deadline, the streamer is joining forces with Sid and Marty Krofft’s production company and Marty’s daughter, Deanna Krofft Pope, VP of Development and Production at their studio, to bring the beloved property back to small screens. Deadline says the Land of the Lost reboot is in its “very early stages” of development, with the search for a writer alive and well.

1974’s Land of the Lost revolves around a father, Rick Marshall (Spencer Milligan), and his two children, Will Marshall (Wesley Eure) and Holly Marshall (Kathy Coleman), who accidentally travel through a portal to a bizarre land populated by dinosaurs, lizard people, and other dangerous creatures that would sooner have them for dinner than let them discover a way to get home.

Exclusive: Netflix is looking to remake another classic TV series. The streamer has closed a deal with Legendary Television for Land of the Lost, a reboot of Sid and Marty Krofft’s 1974 sci-fi adventure show, Deadline has learned.

Hulu has picked up an untitled college comedy starring Stranger Things actor Gaten Matarazzo and The Goldbergs alum Sean Giambrone.

Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher (known as the comedy duo BriTANicK) wrote and directed the feature that follows a group of college students, who order a pizza to their dorm but due to a bad drug trip, the simple journey down two flights of stairs to retrieve the pizza turns into, according to the logline, “a mind-bendingly transformative quest.”

The film is produced by Jeremy Garelick and Will Phelps of American High, which was behind fellow Hulu features Plan B, Big Time Adolescence and The Binge. All Things Comedy’s Billy Rosenberg also produced, along with Jason Zaro, Max A. Butler and Molle DeBartolo. Matarazzo executive produced.

In a highly competitive situation, involving offers from both studios and streamers, Netflix has landed the pitch for a two-hander action comedy to star A Minecraft Movie‘s Jason Momoa and SNL alum Andy Samberg.

We hear the currently untitled film is set in Momoa’s native Hawaii, though further details as to the plot are under wraps. Samberg’s Party Over Here and Momoa’s On The Roam will produce. The script will be written by a pair of highly decorated SNL alums: 11x Emmy nominee Rob Klein and eight-time nominee John Solomon. No word yet on who will direct.

Akiva Schaffer read one such musing last week from a loyal fan of the podcast: “Hi guys, big Frasier fan here. Part of the Crane Train. What part is sadder — the tossed salad or the scrambled eggs? Something to think about.”

The question made Andy Samberg philosophical: “I always imagine the scrambled eggs were left in the pan. It’s like the amount that didn’t get eaten.”

IFC has acquired U.S. rights to Over Your Dead Body (fka The Trip), a new thriller helmed by The Lonely Island’s Jorma Taccone and starring Jason Segel and Samara Weaving.

The film, adapted from the acclaimed Norwegian cult thriller I Onde Dager, will be released wide in theaters at a date not yet disclosed.

Independent Film Company announced today that they have acquired the U.S. rights to Over Your Dead Body, directed by “Saturday Night Live” alumnus and Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone.

The film, adapted by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney from the acclaimed Norwegian cult thriller, I Onde Dager, features an all-star lineup including Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis, Paul Guilfoyle, and Keith Jardine.

Independent Film Company is set to release the film wide theatrically.

IFC is headed on a couple’s retreat with Jason Segel and Samara Weaving. The indie outfit has taken the United States rights to Over Your Dead Body, a feature following a dysfunctional couple who head to a remote cabin to reconnect, but who secretly have a plan to kill the other.

IFC will give a wide release to the project, with international rights up for grabs at Cannes.

The film hails from Jorma Taccone, the Saturday Night Live alum and member of the Lonely Island comedy trio. He is also known as the filmmaker behind Pop Star: Never Stop Stopping and MacGruber.

Scribes Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney adapted the script from the Norwegian cult thriller Onde Dager. The cast also includes Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis, Paul Guilfoyle and Keith Jardine.

XYZ Films has hired former 87North and Studio 8 executive Guy Danella as its President of Film.

The company has said Danella will be tasked with acquiring and producing a slate of high-end genre films geared for the theatrical market.

Danella was most recently an executive at David Leitch’s 87North Films, where he produced such films as Universal’s Violent Night, Love Hurts starring Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan, and The Trip directed by Jorma Taccone and starring Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Timothy Olyphant, and Juliette Lewis. The Trip is a remake of the Norwegian film I Onde Dager and is currently in post-production. XYZ films financed both I Onde Dager and the remake.

Before that, Danella was a partner at Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8, working on titles such as Apple’s Instigators, Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, and Robert Rodriguez’s Hypnotic. He also served as the SVP of Production...

Actors in comedies are frequently called upon to sacrifice themselves on the altar of dignity to bring a gag to life. In Will Forte's 2010 SNL-original comedy MacGruber, several of these ego-killer visual gags are on full display - such as Forte's celery distraction scene, an image forever emblazoned on most viewers' minds.
