The Late Brian McCardie Will Not Be Recast in ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’
Image
Starz's epic romance series, Outlander, is drawing to an end, with its upcoming eighth and final season. After a decade of war, romance, passion and love, the love story between Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) will come to, hopefully, a fitting ending. But that won't happen immediately, and for now our attention turns to the eagerly anticipated prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which will hopefully carry on the legacy of the flagship series when it's done. The new show premieres on Friday, August 8, but sadly, one person who won't get to see its arrival is Scottish actor, Brian McCardie. McCardie portrays Isaac Grant in the forthcoming series, and the actor unexpectedly passed away in the spring of 2024 while Blood of My Blood was still in production. In honor of his memory, the prequel series will not recast the character.

"We lost Brian McCardie," series producer Matt Roberts tells Entertainment Weekly.

Outlander (2014)
“Outlander” Returns with Emotional Midseason Premiere, Sets Stage for Final Seasons
Outlander (2014)
The popular time-traveling drama Outlander began the second half of its seventh season with a powerful episode that reunited viewers with the beloved Fraser family and established major storylines for the show’s upcoming conclusion.

The midseason premiere, “Unfinished Business,” returns Jamie and Claire Fraser to their ancestral Scottish home of Lallybroch, where they experience beautiful reunions and difficult emotional situations. A significant plotline shows that Jamie’s brother-in-law, Ian Murray, is gravely ill with consumption, causing conflict between Claire and Jamie’s sister Jenny.

Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, spoke with RadioTimes.com about his character’s difficult emotional journey. “He is an honorable individual. “He feels a sense of duty,” Heughan explained, referring to Jamie’s desire to reunite with his previous wife Laoghaire.

The episode delves into several plot lines, including a heated encounter between Jamie and Laoghaire, eventually settling their financial issues. Another intriguing subplot...

“Should have done this 4 years ago”: Bob Iger’s New Marvel Plan Sounds Like a Downgrade to Most after Brie Larson’s The Marvels Debacle
Image
Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t what it used to be anymore. From failing movies to cringe scenes (just look at Thor: Love and Thunder), the MCU is suffering through the effects of post-Endgame clarity.

Disney’s current CEO, Bob Iger, recently unveiled a new plan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe which seems good (at first). However, it is the majority opinion of the people that this new plan isn’t going to work.

Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris in The Marvels

Marvel Studios Isn’t What It Used To Be

Maybe it is a bold statement, or a rude one, but all things considered, there is quite a noticeable difference observed in the MCU before Avengers: Endgame and the MCU today. Releasing movies like selling cotton candies at a fair, the MCU simply had a lot on its plate (not even counting the TV shows).

Outlander Photos Depict Horse Butts and Scrabble
There’s a new batch of photos for Starz’s Outlander series, based on Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling novel. From Ronald D. Moore, Outlander tells the tale of a young woman who gets swept back in time, far from her husband, where she winds up forced to marry a young Scottish warrior. The new photos help establish the setting while also showing us some of the goings on behind the scenes.

The first photo we have, shown above, was released by Starz and depicts Castle Leoch, a very important setting from 18th century Scotland, when the majority of the story takes place. Starz made a joke by releasing the photo in honor of Daylight Savings, captioning it “Sad about losing an hour? Claire lost 200 years.”

Next up we have some pictures posted to the outlander_starz instagram. The first is of Caitriona Balfe before she travels through time (so she...

Outlander Photos Make Star Caitriona Balfe Beautiful and Bloody
Who doesn’t like a glimpse at hotly anticipated adaptations of a popular book series? Ronald D. Moore has been putting together Outlander for Starz, based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series. Today I have a small collection of photos from the production of the show’s first season, which will be premiering this summer, and I’m sure they’ll tickle the fancy of Outlander’s fans, both those that are built in and those who will be joining the fandom as they watch the series. Are you ready to look at these photos? I know I am!

First off, we have the above picture of Caitriona Balfe in character as Claire Randall and, I have to say, she looks stunning. Judging by her dress, I’d say this photo takes place in the 1940s, before she takes a step back in time to 18th century Scotland. It’s...

Starz Gives Outlander 16-Episode Series Order
Last month, when Outlander, a drama based on Diana Gabaldon’s fantasy/romance/adventures series of books, set up a writers room before Starz had even given the project an order to series, I might’ve said they were being a tad presumptuous. A little optimism is a good thing, but isn’t this a little much? Apparently not, because Starz has, indeed, ordered Outlander to series. From Battlestar Galactica developer Ron Moore, Outlander stands to be one Starz best series if done right. Starz would’ve been completely mental to not pick this project up, especially with Moore’s name attached to it. Even though it’s untested, I have a feeling it will last for years.

Perhaps, like Moore’s decision to open the writers room and hiring four scribes – Toni Gaphia, Matt Roberts, Ira Behr and Anne Kenney – I’m being overly optimistic about the chances Outlander has of being successful,...

‘Outlander’ Greenlighted To Series By Starz
I’ve learned that Starz has given a series order to Outlander, a drama based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling fantasy/romance/adventure series of books. I hear the project, from Battlestar Galactica developer Ron Moore and Sony Pictures TV, has received a 16-episode order, with production slated to begin in October in Scotland where the books are set. I hear Gabaldon let the news of the greenlight slip at Book Expo America 2013. The news comes a month after Outlander opened a writers room, with Moore hiring four scribes to work with him — Toni Graphia, Matt Roberts, Ira Behr and Anne Kenney. This marks Sony’s first series for Starz. Outlander spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history, and adventure. It follows Claire, a married WWII combat nurse, who mistakenly steps back in time to year 1743 where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world of adventure that sends...

Starz Fills Outlander’s Writers Room Ahead of Series Order
Despite not giving the series a greenlight, Starz is already looking at filling up a writers room for the development of Outlander, a new series based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling book series. This isn’t really that surprising. All it points toward is Starz’s likely decision to give Outlander a full series order without going through all the nasty business have ordering a pilot and testing it. Most of the other series that have aired on Starz have gone through a similar development of jumping straight to series. They’ve had great success so far; perhaps they feel like they can do no wrong.

Battlestar Galactica developer Ron Moore, who is heading Outlander, was tasked with hiring four writers to join him on the series, according to Deadline. Joining him are Toni Graphia and Matt Roberts, both of whom have had experience working with Moore on Battlestar Galactica and Caprica respectively.

Ron Moore’s ‘Outlander’ Series Adaptation For Starz Sets Up Writing Staff
Outlander, Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling fantasy/romance/adventure series of books, is slowly inching to the screen. No greenlight from Starz yet, but I’ve learned that the project has opened a writers room, with Battlestar Galactica developer Ron Moore, who is spearheading the drama series adaptation, hiring four scribes to work with him. The move indicates that Starz is contemplating a potential straight-to-series order for Outlander, a route the pay cable network has taken with most of its original series. Joining Moore on Outlander are two writers who have worked with him before — Battlestar alumna Toni Graphia and Caprica‘s Matt Roberts — along with veteran showruner Ira Behr (Alphas, The 4400) and Anne Kenney (La Law, Switched At Birth). Related: Starz To Develop ‘Outlander’ Series From Ron Moore & Sony Outlander spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history, and adventure. 3 Doors Down Member Arrested
D'Iberville, Miss. -- 3 Doors Down bassist Todd Harrell has been released on $1,000 bond after being arrested on a DUI-related charge following an accident in southern Mississippi.

Police Chief Wayne Payne says in a news release that 40-year-old Todd Harrell was pulled over after 7 a.m. Thursday in D'Iberville after failing to stop at an intersection and colliding with a pickup truck.

Payne says Harrell was charged with DUI and for not wearing a seatbelt. Harrell was released on bond after an appearance before a judge.

Payne says Harrell consented to a blood test and a toxicology report is pending.

Harrell, former guitarist Matt Roberts and lead singer Brad Arnold formed the band 3 Doors Down in Escatawpa, Miss., in 1996. Roberts left the band in May with health problems.

Modern Family came full circle at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, winning the very first honours of the night and closing the show by topping the prestigious Comedy Series category.

Mad Men looked set to dominate the night, going in with 19 top nominations, and it continued its winning streak for the best drama title for the fourth year in a row.

But the stars of the period drama didn't fair so well - Jon Hamm was a four-time loser for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series - Kyle Chandler claimed that prize for his role in Friday Night Lights, while Julianna Margulies beat the likes of Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) and Kathy Bates (Harry's Law) to take home the female equivalent for her turn in The Good Wife.

Meanwhile, Modern Family started the Emmys as it planned to go on - TV husband and wife Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen kicked off the celebrations by walking away with the acting honours for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Comedy Series.
