Rosemary

This Rosemarys Baby Miniseries Gives the Horror Classic a Modern Update
Image
Roman Polanski's 1968 horror film Rosemary's Baby is an undisputed classic of the genre, a film that relies on an ever-increasing sense of dread and uneasiness that keeps Mia Farrow's Rosemary and the audience questioning everything. The film's twisted, ambiguous ending is a pitch-perfect sendoff that ensures its unsettling nature stays with the viewer well after the credits roll. Rosemary's Baby spawned a sequel, Look What's Happened to Rosemary's Baby, and Paramount+ released a prequel, Apartment 7A, in September 2024, but neither project succeeds in bringing to the table what the original does seemingly effortlessly. A 2014 NBC miniseries remake of the film, also called Rosemary's Baby, fares much better while giving it a modern update.

Santana puts Navarro away with the Stb, Spin the Block.

Sam Yates
This debut thriller from theatre director Sam Yates deals with hot, messy emotions in a cold, contained manner. Taking its cue from the spacious yet airless modernist house that encases the crumbling family at its centre – and from producer/star Daisy Ridley’s short, sharp haircut, perhaps clipped from Rosemary’s Baby – it’s a measured and muted affair, all slow build and steely colours.

Given that writer Ben (Shazad Latif) proves himself to be an unsupportive, self-absorbed dick from the opening scene and only gets worse from there, you might find yourself wishing for more heat: a Midsommar-style bonfire by the half-hour mark would do it. For while Latif brings a wrinkle of humour and a twinkle of eye to the part, he’s not afforded a great deal of nuance to play with. This, after all, is a guy who happily uses his cute daughter to cosy up...

Sydney Sweeney's Pregnancy Movie With 71% On Rt Broke The Horror Rule Rosemary's Baby Refused To
Image
Sydney Sweeneys religious horror movie Immaculate is very similar to Rosemarys Baby but it crosses the one line that Rosemarys Baby refused to cross. Immaculate, much like Rosemarys Baby, revolves around an unfortunate young woman being targeted by a Satanic cult and impregnated with the Antichrist. Whereas Rosemarys Baby revolves around an unsuspecting tenant living in a creepy old New York apartment building harboring some very dark secrets, Immaculate revolves around a young nun staying at a beautiful Italian convent harboring some very dark secrets.

Both Sweeneys Sister Cecilia and Mia Farrows Rosemary Woodhouse come to suspect that their unborn child is something unholy that Devil worshipers want to get their hands on. Both Rosemarys Baby and Immaculate build to a thrilling climactic sequence in which the cult comes for the protagonists baby and she desperately tries to fend them off. But the ending of Rosemarys Baby stopped short of crossing one truly horrifying line,...

Later on, “Beauty School” and “Hexagram” were also played for the first time since ’18, plus another Around the Fur track “Rickets” for the first time since 2019.

The only live debut came in the form of their cover of Japan’s “Ghosts,” included on Deftones’ Covers compilation in 2011. That came about halfway through the 20-song set,...
