‘Mayans M.C.’ Season 5 Episode 10 Recap: “Slow to Bleed Fair Son” Series Finale
Image

FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode 10 – the series finale – is, hands down, the best episode of the entire series. Amid all the blood and deaths, questions are answered, and dues are stamped paid. Not every character deserves their fate, but every death is, in its own way, justified.

Sons of Anarchy was Hamlet with motorcycles. Mayans M.C. is also a Shakespearean tragedy, complete with betrayals, love, loyalty, and murder.

Season five episode 10, “Slow to Bleed Fair Son,” begins with confirmation that Felipe has died. His funeral is the opening scene, with Angel (Clayton Cardenas) holding Maverick and Ez (Jd Pardo) solemnly staring straight ahead as “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord” is sung.

Sadly, the service has very few people other than Mayans in attendance. When the song ends, Angel and Ez...

‘Mayans M.C.’ Season 5 Episode 8 Recap: “Her Blacks Crackle and Drag”
Image
Jd Pardo as Ez Reyes in ‘Mayans Mc’ season 5 episode 8 (Photo Credit: Prashant Gupta / FX)

Still haven’t recovered from FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode seven? Neither have I. But buckle up because episode eight – “Her Blacks Crackle and Drag” – doesn’t let up. The episode finds the Mayans saying goodbye to Creeper, Angel lost without Adelita, and Hope taking drastic measures to ensure Isaac can never hurt her or Letty again.

But, most importantly, the episode’s explosive ending might spell the end of Ez’s short reign over the prisons.

Episode eight opens with Downer (Angel Oquendo) and Guero (Andrew Jacobs) transporting the dead bodies of Diaz and Jinx. Guero’s justifiably worried after killing Oakland’s president in cold blood, which forced Bishop to take out the VP. But Downer assures him the club knows why he did it. It wasn’t a smart move,...

‘Mayans M.C.’ Season 5 Episode 2 Recap: “Lord Help My Poor Soul”
Image

FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode one ended with Creeper being repeatedly stabbed in prison. Episode two, “Lord Help My Poor Soul,” opens with Santo Padre meeting to discuss the attack. Angel (Clayton Cardenas) knows half the guards belong to Iron War, and Gilly (Vincent Vargas) believes the attack happened right after he finished visiting with Creeper.

They don’t know Creeper’s condition, but the attack was brutal.

Kate (Stella Maeve) visits Creeper (Joseph Raymond Lucero) at the hospital, where he’s handcuffed and hooked up to machines. He’s conscious and orders her to leave, and she wants to put him in protective custody. He refuses, and Kate confesses she wishes she’d never accepted this assignment. They toss insults at each other, and finally, Creeper cuts to the chase. If she wants to help him,...

Fun Disney Trailer for Inspirational Basketball Movie 'Chang Can Dunk'
Image
"Everybody's talking about you, dude!" Disney has revealed an official trailer for a new high school sports movie called Chang Dan Dunk, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Jing Yi Shao. The movie will be streaming on Disney+ starting in early March, which is really the ideal place for something like this to premiere." Freshman Chang is no more. Chang 2.0 is here!" Bloom Li stars as 16-year-old Asian-American Chang, who is an unpopular high schooler who loves basketball, but is always underestimated. Though his peers treat him as though he is insignificant, he becomes obsessed with learning how to slam dunk. Chang is determined to best the high school's all-star named Matt, all while hopefully winning the adoration of his romantic interest, Kristy. Also starring Ben Wang, Chase Liefeld, Eric Anthony Lopez, Nile Bullock, Zoe Renee, Mardy Ma, and Angel Oquendo as "Coach". This actually looks pretty good! Worth a watch.

‘Chang Can Dunk’ Director Jingyi Shao Wants Asian American Teens to Have the ‘Chance to Be the Protagonist’, Debuts First Trailer (Exclusive)
Image
Disney+ has unveiled the trailer for “Chang Can Dunk” from filmmaker Jingyi Shao, one of Variety’s “10 Directors to Watch” for 2023.

The coming-of-age sports film — which begins streaming March 10 — follows Chang (Bloom Li), an unpopular high schooler who loves basketball and Pokémon. Chang finds himself wagering a bet with the school’s all-star player, Matt (Chase Liefeld), that he will be able to make a slam dunk — in 12 weeks time.

The film also stars Zoe Renee, Ben Wang, Dexter Darden, Anthony Lopez, Nile Bullock, Mardy Ma and Angel Oquendo.

“I was really inspired by early ’90s coming-of-age films, but specifically sports-coming-of-age films like ‘Mighty Ducks,’” Shao tells Variety of his feature directorial debut.

The film examines teenage social hierarchies and family dynamics from the perspective of people of color living in communities where they’re a minority population.

“In a town where there aren’t a lot of other Asian American families,...

A Legacy Hangs In The Balance In Blistering Full Trailer For Cars 3
It’s only when we hit our lowest point that we’re open to the greatest change. At least, that’s how the old saying goes, and it’s one that very much applies to Lightning McQueen’s journey in Cars 3, the animated threequel from Pixar and director Brian Fee that’s booked in for release on June 16th.

Hot off the unveiling of Nathan Fillion’s suave charmer, Sterling, the Pixar Brian Trust has today lifted the tarpaulin on the new (and potentially final) Cars 3 trailer in which we find Armie Hammer’s boisterous newcomer Jackson Storm cementing his place as the hottest stock car on the circuit. However, that blistering rise to fame comes at the expense of Owen Wilson’s Lightning McQueen, who finds his once ironclad legacy hanging in the balance.

Previous Cars movies have toyed with the idea of the hotshot versus the old guard,...

From the Press Release

Post-production for the supernatural thriller Gold Rush is near completion. Directed by Debbie Bledsoe, terror strikes in the heart of Gold Rush Country, Northern California, when a team of modern-day paranormal experts investigate an evil presence at a collector’s estate filled with antiques from a gold mining ghost town.

The location of the film is, according to paranormal experts, authentically haunted. It’s a private property with preserved artifacts from the Gold Rush era.

"There’s no need to pretend it’s eerie here with all the dangerous mining tools: axes, picks, drills, and creepy sledgehammers. There’s real history here," said director Debbie Bledsoe. "The poker table has bullet holes.
