Simon Olivier lives on England's south coast, where he grew up with an older sister who suffered from severe cerebral palsy, giving him a unique sense of empathy towards the struggles of others, a sensibility which has become essential later in life, in caring for his mother as she battles Alzheimer's disease. These experiences, along with losing his sister and father while in his teens, inform Simon's character-driven drama screenplays, which explore themes of outsiders finding their place in the world, using high concept ideas told in believable settings.
Simon studied Film at the University of Kent at Canterbury. His feature screenplay for coming-of-age comedy-drama 'Boogie Man' was produced and has won over 50 awards worldwide. As a director he has won several awards for his black comedy short films 'Burned' and 'Feminine Incite' and his feature documentary on the career of singer Eva Cassidy premiered on Sky Arts.
His semi-autobiographical quirky drama screenplay 'Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans?' placed as a Semi-Finalist in the Roadmap Writers JumpStart competition and as a Quarter-Finalist in BlueCat.
