Garrett Hedlund comments on whether audiences will see Sam Flynn in Tron: Aresafter the events of Tron: Legacy (2010). Directed by Joachim Rønning, the upcoming third installment in the Tron franchise stars Jared Leto as Ares, a sophisticated A.I. program that travels from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission. The Tron: Ares cast is confirmed to include original movie star Jeff Bridges, with Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Gillian Anderson, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Cameron Monaghan also confirmed to appear. Hedlund, however, has not been included in cast announcements.
In a recent interview with ScreenRant to promote Barron's Cove, Hedlund confirms that Sam will not be appearing in Tron: Ares. One of the most chilling scenes in Justin Kurzel's "The Order" (a movie that's found a larger audience thanks to streaming) takes place at the National Alliance convention. There, Bob Mathews (Nicholas Hoult), the leader of the neo-Nazi terrorist group The Order (aka Silent Brotherhood), delivers a speech to recruit soldiers. The room he stands in is covered with giant swastikas and blood-red and freedom-blue American flags, and its air is heavy with hate and testosterone. Mathews knows his crowd. He pleads with the desperation and anger of these people, saying, "If you're like me, I'm not sure how much more talk I can hear. Cause that's all it is, isn't it? Talk, talk ... talk!" No action, no real results. He knows all the pressure points of the mind of a white supremacist to keep on pushing until empty words of hatred turn into vile actions of racism and violence.

There's nothing better than hearing a positive update from someone who opened up about their private health battles. Nearly five years ago, Jeff Bridges announced that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma, a blood cancer. The Academy Award winner also shared, about four years ago, that he was in remission. Now, Bridges has another update for supporters who were rooting for him along the way of his journey. They'll be happy to know that the Iron Man actor said he is doing "very well" in an interview with People on May 9.
"I'm feeling good," he said. However, he revealed that he is facing some health challenges following a battle with Covid-19 during his chemo treatment. "Some things, it's hard to tell if it's the cancer and the Covid or if it's just old age." The 75-year-old also said that sometimes his memory is an issue, but he believes it's a long-term Covid effect.

The criminally underrated The Order did not gain as much attention as other titles released on the big screen in 2024. Last year provided moviegoers a number of critically acclaimed features across various genres, leaving the Justin Kurzel-directed crime thriller somewhat overshadowed. However, that doesn’t mean the film wasn’t a critical success, with a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score as of this writing. Now, the movie is bound to be introduced to a much wider audience this month. The Order — starringJude Lawand Nicholas Hoult — will be added to Hulu's extensive library starting April 18, 2025.
The crime thriller boasts an ensemble cast led by Law and Hoult, both of whom have impressive acting portfolios under their belts. Law, best known for his performance in 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley, has continued to prove his range as an actor time and again with a range of genres, including comedy, thriller, drama, and action.

The official trailer for Tron: Ares just dropped a few days ago with exciting imagery of light cycles and other light vehicles traveling in the real world outside of the video gaming digital realm of Tron Programs. Ares, scheduled for theatrical release on October 10 2025, is the third installment from the Tron movie franchise, which also includes Tron (1982) and Tron: Legacy (2010).
The basic premise from the Tron movies revolves around the internal digital world of the Tron gaming system, where Programs battle Users from the real world. Generally, Users remain in the real world, and Programs remain in the Grid—the digital world. In the Grid, Tron (created by Encom programmer Alan Bradley) is a security program that fights Programs (portrayed by Bruce Boxleitner) on behalf of Users in death battles that feature Disc Wars and Light Cycle Races.

Jared Leto found fame for being an iconic actor with films like Requiem for a Dream and Dallas Buyers Club. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have your bad days. Starring in Morbius and Suicide Squad, Leto’s career diminished quietly as the actor took a break from Hollywood for a while.
However, the official teaser trailer for Tron: Ares has been released recently and Jared Leto is absolutely shining in it. With the iconic actor taking the role of Ares, a masterful theory is also taking shape.

Tron: Ares director Joachim Rønning has drawn an interesting comparison between Jared Leto's antagonist in Tron 3 and a beloved Disney icon. Many would perhaps presume that Ares — the rogue A.I. at the center of the story — would be similar to the classic villains featured in Disney's Hall of Infame, such as Jafar, Scar, or even Captain Hook, but that is not the case. Rønning told Empire that the Ares computer program has slightly more complex coding than a traditional baddie, making him more like Pinocchio than anyone else.
"Not to be too clichéd, but I always thought about him a bit like Pinocchio. Ares wants to be a real boy. We talked a lot about him almost being an infant, discovering the world for the first time, and how we wanted the audience to see the world through his eyes. The little things that we take for granted,...

Tron: Ares director teases Jared Leto’s character: “I always thought about him a bit like Pinocchio”
After a successful debut at CinemaCon, the first teaser trailer for Tron: Ares was released over the weekend, giving us our first taste of the Grid in fifteen years. The sequel follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings. Jared Leto plays Ares, and director Joachim Rønning spilled a few details about the character while speaking with Empire.
“Not to be too clichéd, but I always thought about him a bit like Pinocchio,” Rønning said. “Ares wants to be a real boy. We talked a lot about him almost being an infant, discovering the world for the first time, and how we wanted the audience to see the world through his eyes. The little things that we take for granted, or don’t see anymore. That was important.

Somehow, it's been 15 years since Tron Legacy burst onto the scene in a shower of neon lights and throbbing Daft Punk numbers, turning a decades-old pop culture oddity into a serious franchise tentpole seemingly overnight. But now, after a decade and a half off Grid, it's time to fire up the lightcycles once again for Joachim Rønning's Tron: Ares, a new chapter in the franchise that's set to reverse the series' polarity and, for the first time, bring the virtual world to reality — courtesy of Jared Leto's protagonist Ares, sent from the Grid to the real world on a dangerous mission. And you can check out the first trailer for the threequel, soundtracked by the inimitable Nine Inch Nails, below;

Just two days after the teaser for Tron: Ares debuted at CinemaCon, an official trailer has now dropped.
Disney’s Tron: Ares, the long-awaited sequel to 2010’s Tron: Legacy, released the first trailer on Saturday, which sees Jared Leto “who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings,” reads the logline. Jeff Bridges, who starred as Kevin Flynn in the original 1982 film, says in the voiceover: “Ready? Because there’s no going back.”
Evan Peters also appears in the trailer, looking up at the sky, which has no shortage of red lasers.
On Thursday, Leto and Bridges took to the stage at CinemaCon to debut Tron: Ares’ teaser. “Well, first off, as a kid I was obsessed with Tron. It was the ‘80s, and the future felt like it was just around the corner. … Tron had action,...

The first trailer for Tron: Ares has finally arrived (via SFFGazette.com), and this time, The Grid is coming to our world. It's unique approach to the movie and one we've known about for a while now. The benefit to that is it's given fans of the long-running sci-fi franchise time to get used to the idea.
It's quite something to see those classic Tron visuals in a regular city, even if it is with a new red colour scheme in place of that trademark blue. Unsurprisingly, the cops are no match for a Light Cycle.
The sneak peek doesn't reveal much, though we get plenty of action, what look like world-ending stakes, and a first proper look at Jared Leto's A.I. program unmasked; spoiler alert: he looks just like Jared Leto, long hair, beard, and all. The teaser ends with Jeff Bridges' Kevin Flynn saying, "Ready? 'Cuz there's no going back.

It's been 15 years since moviegoers last took a trip to the Grid in "Tron: Legacy," and while fans of this sci-fi franchise are absolutely champing at the bit for a third installment over a decade later, they might need to readjust their expectations. Because this time, the Grid is coming to us.

The first trailer for Tron: Ares is bringing the beloved video game franchise into the real world in an epic way!
Few movies have earned the label "cult classic" like Tron. The 1982 Disney movie starred Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer trying to prove a corrupt executive stole his prized video game programs.
The sinister Master Control Program manages to send Flynn into the computer world, where he battles it out on game grids and meets the heroic Tron (Bruce Boxleitner). What made the movie notable was the groundbreaking computer-animated effects for the light cycles and the computer world.
The film was a mild success at the box office at the time. It truly found its audience when it hit home video and as video games became more successful, it attained a massive following. Not to mention, it's now seen as a pioneer for CGI, which has influenced scores of effects artists.

Here is the announcement for the trailer releasing on April 5, 2025.
It is unlikely as long as the CinemaCon trailer, but it’s better than noting. So far the third “Tron” film has been kept mostly secret but we do know that Jared Leto is playing Ares and Jeff Bridges is back as Kevin Flynn.
Here is the film synopsis that is currently available,
“Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”
I loved the original “Tron” film but I wasn’t in love with the second one, mostly because we never really got Tron. I’m not yet sold on this third film.

The lights went down in the Colosseum just after 3 p.m. on Thursday as a spectacle was about to unfold. Blue, green and red lasers shot out from every corner to fill the venue with light as Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges entered from the side of the stage to talk up their new film Tron: Ares.
Walt Disney also revealed a new look at its tentpole during its CinemaCon presentation at Caesars Palace. The film — a follow-up to the 1982 seminal science-fiction film Tron and the 2010 sequel, Tron: Legacy — stars Leto as Ares, a computer program sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission to introduce artificial intelligence beings to humans.
“Well, first off, as a kid I was obsessed with Tron,” said Leto. “It was the ‘80s and the future felt like it was just around the corner. … Tron had action, adventure, spandex — lots of spandex.

Walt Disney Studios is taking over the main stage at CinemaCon 2025, and things are getting freaky! The highly anticipated panel included a presentation for Freakier Friday, the sequel to Disney’s 2003 comedy smash starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis! Before CinemaCon, Disney unveiled an adorable teaser trailer for the upcoming bodyswap tale, and now the con crowd is learning more details.
Lohan and Curtis took the CinemaCon stage to introduce the film. They explained that instead of switching bodies with each other, their characters exchange places with Lohan’s kids, so Curtis gets to act like a teenager again. Chad Michael Murray returns, and the preview includes a funny scene of Lindsay aggressively flirting with him. Murray is actually into Curtis, which could cause some delicious drama among the group. The wait is almost over, and Tron: Ares is set to transport audiences back to the digital frontier, and now we have our first official look at Jared Leto in the first trailer for the movie, courtesy of Collider's Britta DeVore who saw the footage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Disney’s long-gestating sequel to Tron: Legacy has been in the works for over a decade, and now, with director Joachim Rønning (Young Woman and the Sea) at the helm, the franchise is finally making its return. The film will bring the Tron universe into uncharted territory as Leto’s Ares, a powerful program, is sent into the real world. Here's what we saw:
Two red motorcycles are racing down a highway before lasers shoot out from behind them and slice cop cars down the middle. A voiceover can be heard saying “I’m looking for something, something I do not understand.

As the world grapples with the implications of artificial intelligence, “Tron: Ares” is racing into theaters, offering dazzling visual effects and a trippy adventure set in a distant future. Disney premiered an eye-popping first look at the film at CinemaCon, the annual trade show for theater owners that’s taking place this week in Las Vegas.
On stage, Jared Leto, the film’s star, promised that the new movie “will hit you right in the grid…wherever that is.”
The long-gestating follow-up to 2010’s “Tron: Legacy,” which was itself a long-gestating follow-up to 1982’s “Tron,” follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, that is sent from the digital world into the real world on a mission. It marks humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.
The trailer unfolded to the atmospheric music of Nine Inch Nails and overflows with atmospheric details — bright red bikes race down highways, slicing cop cars in half.

Jeff Bridges and Jared Leto took the CinemaCon main stage on Thursday amid a light show to introduce “Tron: Ares.”
The sneak peek starts with two Tron cycles evading the police on a freeway. “I’m looking for something, something I did not understand,” Bridges says.
Shots of figures coming to life from the grid ensue. “Ready? Because there is no going back,” Bridges added.
The third film in the “Tron” franchise, which began way back in 1982, arrives this October, with Jared Leto starring as a program named Ares who finds himself in the real world.
In addition to Leto as Ares, the cast also includes Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson and, of course, Bridges as Kevin Flynn, the creator of the computerized world of Tron.

Justin Kurzel’s new film The Order acts as a history lesson that remains as relevant as ever, at times too relevant, something that echoes today’s history before us. The film also acts as a sleek detective movie and a crisp action thriller, one the big screen has been missing.
The Order follows the true story of frightened communities throughout the Pacific Northwest America in 1983. Where a series of increasingly violent bank robberies, counterfeiting operations, and armoured car heists are tied to a group of dangerous white supremacists and domestic terrorists, inspired by a radical, charismatic leader (played by Nicholas Hoult). A leader that spreads his hateful, dangerous ideologies to his followers. Tasked with hunting down the...

The Order is an American action thriller film with a satisfyingly slow-burn style that is maintained till the very end. Adapted from Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt’s non-fiction book titled The Silent Brotherhood, the film’s plot follows the arrival of an FBI officer, Terry Husk, at the small town of Coeur D’Alene, in the state of Idaho, where he suspects a White supremacist group to be the perpetrators behind recent crimes. Overall, The Order makes for quite an interesting and intense watch, particularly because of its connection with true events, and is definitely recommended to fans of the genre.

Nicholas Hoult plays a wannabe far-right martyr, and Law and Tye Sheridan the feds on his tail, in a well-cast if anticlimactic true-crime tale
Justin Kurzel directs a workmanlike true-crime thriller about a real-life American white supremacist movement called the Order, which, in the 1980s, murdered Jewish radio journalist Alan Berg and pulled off bank robberies to fund a planned national insurrection. Its leader, Bob Mathews, sought a creepy martyrdom involving an Alamo-style standoff with federal agents at the group’s remote farmhouse in Washington state. Screenwriter Zach Baylin (Oscar-nominated for King Richard) adapts the book about the case, The Silent Brotherhood, by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt; Nicholas Hoult plays the baby-faced Mathews, with Jude Law and Tye Sheridan as the (fictional-composite) officers battling to take him down.

Directed by Justin Kurzel and written by Zach Baylin, The Order is a gripping 2024 action thriller based on the acclaimed non-fiction book The Silent Brotherhood by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt.
Bringing to life one of the most chilling chapters in modern American history, the film explores the rise of a violent white supremacist terrorist group in the 1980s and the relentless FBI pursuit to bring it to justice. It stars Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett, Alison Oliver, and Marc Maron.

Finally we couldn’t resist the temptation to ask hi8m about The Holiday, a Christmas movie that has continued to inspire and delight audiences almost 2 whole decades after it was first released.

Deadline’s Read the Screenplay series highlighting the scripts behind the awards season’s buzziest films continues with The Order, Justin Kurzel’s period crime drama based on a chilling and timely true story. The screenplay was written by Oscar-nominated King Richard scribe Zach Baylin.
The film starring Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan and Jurnee Smollett has been hitting the fall festival circuit beginning with its world premiere at Venice. It has since opened the Zurich and Marrakesh film festivals and hit theaters in limited release this past weekend via Vertical.
Baylin’s script, adapted from the book The Silent Brotherhood by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt, centers on a string of violent robberies and other crimes beginning in the early 1980s Pacific Northwest that the FBI, and specifically veteran agent Terry Husk (Law), figured out were being perpetrated by a white supremacist group plotting to overthrow the government.

Tye Sheridan isn't sure if he'll be back as Cyclops in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor, who portrayed the younger version of James Marsden's X-Men leader, recently cast doubt on his return during an interview to promote his new thriller The Order.
Sheridan addressed his possible return as Scott Summers/Cyclops in the MCU while speaking with Screen Rant, sharing, "I don't know. I don't think there's a question if there's more stories to tell. I think there's probably always more stories to tell. The question is whether audiences have a desire for those stories and whether we feel like those types of films have been oversaturated or they're not, or if there's a new way to make those films. But yeah, I'm not real sure."

The ending of the true story crime thriller The Order shows the demise of Bob Matthews, the leader of the titular neo-Nazi domestic terrorist group. Jude Law and Nicolas Hoult lead the talented cast of The Order, which also features performances by Tye Sheridan (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Marc Maron (Joker). What a disheartening reflection on our times that The Order ranks among the most relevant dramas of the last ten years. It shouldn’t. 2024 should not see us still struggling with the issues of white supremacy and armed extremist groups. Yet here we are.
The Order is based on the true story of Bob Mathews (Nicholas Hoult) and his followers, a violent neo-Nazi group responsible for a series of bank robberies, bombings, and murders in the 1980s. FBI Agent Terry Husk (two-time Oscar nominee Jude Law) is sent to the Pacific Northwest to investigate the Aryan Nation with little in the way of support. The local sheriff is willfully blind to the extensive presence of Nazis in his community and tries to blow off Agent Husk. But deputy sheriff Jamie Bowen steps forward, volunteering his help...

Jude Law has been killing a wide range of roles since he broke out in Anthony Minghella’s “The Talented Mr. Ripley” in 1999. Twenty-five years later, Law’s latest performance as grizzled FBI agent Terry Husk in hardboiled ’80s actioner “The Order” is a departure: The actor not only masters an American accent, but he’s embodying a gun-wielding Western masculine archetype: rugged, angry, laconic, righteous. Think Clint Eastwood, although Law told me that he channeled Gene Hackman and Paul Newman in our video interview (above).
Law’s latest incarnation since he founded Riff Raff Entertainment in 2017: producer. “I love finding material,” he said. “I love reading. I love thinking about who would be good in what role and taking the reins and being able to nurture ideas. I still sit and hope that I get phone calls from certain filmmakers who are making their own things, but when...

Warning: Minor Spoilers for The Order!Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult are on opposite ends of the law in the new crime thriller The Order, with Law playing FBI agent Terry Husk and Hoult playing Bob Mathews, the leader of a white supremacist terrorist cell. The former tracking the latter makes up much of the narrative, but director Justin Kurzel seems more concerned with the effect each man's respective ethos has on their life and surroundings. Mathews has constructed a community based on his extreme hatred, while Husk's dogged pursuit of Good has alienated him from his community — meaning both live in very different warped realities.

The Order is about hate, though not quite in the way you'd expect. It seems an obvious theme, given the story follows a white supremacist terrorist cell and the FBI's effort to stop them, and some space is given to the hateful doctrine they live by. But the movie is less interested in hate ideologically as it is in the feeling. And director Justin Kurzel is less interested in explaining that feeling than he is in observing it and its effects. Surround that goal with across-the-board quality, and you have a consistently tense crime thriller that leaves a lasting mark.
A lone FBI agent, stationed in a small Idaho town, uncovers a disturbing connection between a series of violent bank robberies and a white supremacist group known as The Order. As the investigation deepens,...

During the pandemic lockdown and in the frigid months of more recent years, many home viewers became hooked on “true crime” stories that were once the lifeblood of broadcast TV news “magazine” shows, but now have entire cable networks devoted to them. And the streaming apps are simply bursting with documentaries and “limited” series that are comprised of recreations and “talking head” interviews. While motion pictures had been the showcase for non-fiction law enforcement tales, recently we’ve seen more of the “over the top” “stunt-heavy” action blockbusters. Now, in between the year-end family fantasies and the somber “Oscar bait”, here’s a nifty thriller that evokes the feel of those zippy “B pictures”. Ah, but there’s a twist in that much of the story still resonates today, several decades later. Yes, on a cold day almost four years ago, the country was dealing with the legacy of The Order.
