Tyrrell Shaffner is a director who specializes in threading the needle between drama, comedy, and romance. She moved often as a child, living in 4 states and England before she was a teen. The tallest girl in school, with frizzy hair and freckles, she cracked jokes to survive her adolescence. As a filmmaker, she explores being an outsider from a female POV.
Tyrrell recently directed her first feature, the sex positive comedy "Katie's Mom," starring veteran actress Dina Meyer. The film premiered at the 2023 Dances With Films Film Festival in Los Angeles, where it won the Audience Award for Best Fusion Feature. Playgirl calls "Katie's Mom" "raunchy, MILF-y fun" and it's available on digital and on demand.
Tyrrell attended USC Film School and her queer comedic thesis film, "Different," played at 40 over festivals worldwide. She worked as a staff director/producer for Oscar-winning Producer Rob Fried's SVOD channel Feeln (bought by Hallmark) and she served in the same role for Director Jon M. Chu's Google channel DS2DIO. She has crafted 100s of pieces of content for various digital companies.
