Welcome to Reality Derby, our weekly deep dive into all things reality TV, hosted by Gold Derby senior editors Marcus James Dixon and Denton Davidson.
Joining us this week are Kyle Timpson, the winner of Hell’s Kitchen: Head Chefs Only, and Hannah Flora, the runner-up. (Our interview begins at the 1:11 mark in the video above.) They break down the final dinner service, what they think about Gordon Ramsay‘s decision, and the wildest moments of Season 23.
“I was speechless,” Kyle tells Gold Derby. “I didn’t think the [door] was going to open because Hannah is also a badass chef. It could have been either one of us. I was happy it was me, but Hannah is great. I’m super grateful.”
While Kyle walked into a roomful of confetti, Hannah admits she was thinking her door may have been “jammed.” However, she agrees with Kyle that Gordon had two great options.

Gordon Ramsay is about to name his 23rd Hell’s Kitchen winner, but will it be Hannah Flora or Kyle Timpson who receives the champagne shower? And, more importantly, who deserves to win when the grand finale, titled “Hell’s Finish Line,” airs Thursday on Fox? Vote in our poll below and then be sure to defend your choice in our reality TV forums.
The champion of Season 23 will receive a head chef position at the Hell’s Kitchen Restaurant at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn. And they’ll be added to the iconic list of Hell’s Kitchen winners that goes all the way back to Michael Wray‘s initial victory in 2005.
Hannah Flora
The early bird special: This 31-year-old country club executive chef from DeKalb, Ill, started out the competition on the Red Team as a bit of an underdog — especially as those with louder voices took control of the narrative.

Joining us this week is Egypt Davis, a 31-year-old executive chef from Chicago who was eliminated from Hell’s Kitchen: Head Chefs Only in third place. (Our interview begins at the 0:54 mark in the video above.) Egypt talks about his disappointing exit from Gordon Ramsay‘s cooking show, why he clashed with the Blue Team, and where he hopes his culinary journey will lead him next.
In last week’s episode of Hell’s Kitchen, Egypt faced off against Kyle Timpson and Hannah Flora for a spot in the finale. After each contestant created a five-course meal judged by celebrity chefs, Egypt finished in last place by just a single point. “I can be upset by the result, but I can’t be upset at...
