Hearing and understanding are two very different things.

The whole idea is to transcend the label 'deaf'. By God, you would never see newspapers say, 'Black actor Wesley Snipes'. Never! So why do that for us?

I'd love to die an old actor. Maybe onstage in a final thrilling moment! OK, maybe not. But it's a dream, hey?

[on living in New York City] "People are very flexible and open to new experiences by necessity, but there's the issue of time. They don't always necessarily want to take the time to communicate to me. Some people just don't get it. They think I'm foreign, by listening to my accent, or if I point at my eye and shake my head, they think I'm some nut. One-third of the city is insane, I hear. To be lumped into that category gives me hope of someday doing a revival of Cuckoo's Nest."

I'm 27 and playing a 15-year old Huck Finn - miracles DO happen.
