Exclusive: Hood River Entertainment (A Day To Die) is in production on Jackrabbit, a mystery-comedy-thriller written and directed by Emmy and Peabody winner Ballard C. Boyd, a longtime producer and segment director on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Cast includes Kuhoo Verma (Plan B), Taylor Ortega (Another Simple Plan), Soojeong Son (Kaleidoscope), Saamer Usmani (3 Body Problem) and Mark Gessner (NCIS: New Orleans).

The female-led, mystery-comedy-thriller set in NYC is about investigative reporter George (Verma) who moves to New York, but needs a roommate. Knowing no one else in the city except her childhood best friend Trish (Son), George agrees to move in with Trish’s city bestie, Avery (Ortega), an aspiring actress and full-time mess. In this edition of This Day That Year, Subhash K Jha revisits Nana Patekar’s Vadh as it clocks 23 years.

Though Vadh (assassination) aspires to be a slick thriller about a serial killer on the prowl, the plot is as pacy and elegant as a Chinese Puzzle with several missing pieces.

The cast, though uniformly unattractive and laughably stilted, features the once-revered Nana Patekar in his first major role since Wajood two years ago. Nana plays a shrink presiding over a shallow and shrunken menagerie of characters. The plot seems stage-managed by an invisible hand that thinks it knows what it’s doing.

Except for the denouement, which succeeds in surprising and shocking the audience, nothing about Vadh is the least convincing or exciting. Patekar, who openly admits to having taken over the directorial reigns from the original director, has earlier directed Prahaar, a film about an army man’s disillusionment with the system.

With “Be Happy” (2025), Remo D’Souza continues on an overconfident spree of churning out dance videos in the guise of cinematic tripe. The title itself is abundantly indicative of the sheer excruciating stupidity filling every seam of this film. Once again, we get the tussle of reaching for dreams immanent to a passion for the arts. This is done through an entirely ineffective father-daughter story, where Abhishek Bachchan and Inayat Verma are tasked with taking us on a wrenching journey. Of course, a terminal illness track gets interposed, to cover up the massive flaws, the absolute slog the film regularly settles into.

The film opens at a picturesque estate in Ooty. It’s been eight years since Shiv (Bachchan) lost his wife in an accident. He lives with his daughter, Dhara (Verma), and his father-in-law (Nassar). Dhara’s passion for dancing is immediate, buoyant and all-encompassing. Shiv, however, isn’t quite...

It seems as if everyone wants to capture that For You Page magic, and Uber Eats is the latest app taking a page out of TikTok‘s book. The food ordering spinoff of Uber has announced a feed of vertically-oriented videos that will promote various restaurants and dishes.

Uber Eats Senior Director of Product Awaneesh Verma told TechCrunch that the new video feed will show up in carousels that will appear on multiple pages, including the app’s home screen. When users tap on one of the videos in the carousel, they’ll enter a swipeable vertical feed that bears a striking resemblance to TikTok’s For You Page.

The first people to try out the new feed will be Uber Eats users in New York, San Francisco, and Toronto. A global rollout is on the docket for the future, though specific timing details about that launch aren’t known at this time.

Lucknow, July 19 (Ians) Medical experts have warned people against taking stomach acidity lightly and advised them not to take over-the-counter (Otc) drugs.

Dr N.S. Verma, a senior doctor of King George’s Medical University (Kgmu), said, “About 80 per cent of people suffer from acidity at some point in their lives. This is related to what they eat, their physical activity and their sleep pattern. Too much sugar intake and having spicy and fried food are the most common mistakes we make every day that cause gastro problems.”

Dr R.K. Sharma, of Medanta Hospital, said, “Hyperacidity-related disorders are very common and faced by majority of the population in India.”

The doctors said people should maintain a diet plan, sleep adequately and ensure they use gadgets in a limited manner.

New Delhi, May 1 (Ians) Rohan Verma, CEO & Executive Director, MapmyIndia, on Monday slammed the Internet and Mobile Association of India (Iamai) for parroting and promoting views that are “anti-Indian and pro-foreign Big Tech”.

In a detailed tweet, Verma said that it is sad to see an organisation originally founded by and for Indian companies has been taken over by Big Tech representatives and is now promoting a false narrative.

New Delhi, April 29 (Ians) Even as the last three years of Covid-pandemic, has among many things, severely affected routine immunisation of children, health experts on Saturday urged the need to catch up on the time lost.

World Immunisation Week, celebrated in the last week of April, aims to highlight the collective action needed to protect people from vaccine-preventable diseases.

An estimated 67 million children missed their routine immunisation, entirely or partially, between 2019 and 2021 including 48 million not receiving any vaccine, according to Unicef’s State of the World’s Children report released last week.

“Fear of exposure, disruption of healthcare services, misinformation, economic challenges and focus on controlling Covid-19, led to a significant decline in vaccination rates for both adults and children,” Nameet Jerath, Senior Consultant, Paediatric Pulmonolgy and Critical Care, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, told Ians.

Khan.

Largely autobiographical for its filmmaker, Mustache follows Ilyas (Verma), an eccentric 13-year-old boy who sets off to navigate the social hierarchy of his new California public school with a mustache his parents will not allow him to shave off. Manji will play Ilyas’ father Hameed, with Pakistani-Canadian singer Shafi playing his mother, and Manji’s daughter Ayana set to portray his school friend, Yasmeen.
