November 2 marks the birthday of queen consort Marie Antoinette, born in 1755. To mark the date, the official social media for the upcoming Rose of Versailles film has shared new screenshots of the legendary monarch as reimagined for the historical drama. Jujutsu Kaisen Studio Revives Landmark Shojo Series as New Anime Movie

Studio Mappa, the Japanese animation studio behind Jujutsu Kaisen and more, is releasing a new theatrical anime in 2025. The new movie is based on a landmark shojo series that made a massive impact on its genre and demographic: The Rose of Versailles.

In early 2025, a theatrical anime based on The Rose of Versailles will be released in Japan. The series' official YouTube channel uploaded the first teaser trailer online. Mappa is producing the film adaptation with Ai Yoshimura as director. Yoshimura was the series director for My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu and directed episodes of popular anime series like Daily Lives of High School Boys, Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day and Blue Spring Ride.
