Warning: contains spoilers for Star Trek: Lower Decks #2!
Move over Star Wars! At long last, Star Trek has its own version of the iconic lightsaber–but which version is the best? Both Star Trek and Star Wars feature a number of cool weapons, be they phasers, blasters, photon torpedos–or lightsabers. The lightsaber is one of a kind in science fiction, but now they have come to the Star Trek universe–sort of, in Star Trek: Lower Decks #2.
Star Trek: Lower Decks #2 is written by Ryan North and drawn by Derek Charm. The “Lower Deckers” find themselves at the mercy of the Excalibans, who want Boimler and company to engage in fights for their amusement. Boimler gives a pep talk to the Excalibans, convincing them of the error of their ways. As the Excalibans prepare to return them to the Cerritos, they show the Lower Deckers what they could have had: “energy swords.

The sun is setting on Star Trek: Lower Decks, but just because the show is concluding, don't think that fans have seen the last of these scrappy underlings. The fan-favorite Star Trek entry hasn't just been a hit on streaming, but comic readers as well, and thanks to one publisher, fans could be enjoying the Lower Decks for years.
Star Trek: Lower Decks fans everywhere received some pretty unfortunate news earlier this year when the streaming service Paramount announced that it wouldn't be renewing the animated series and that the fifth season would be its last. While viewers were understandably bummed, more uplifting news regarding the series came out several months later.
Idw Publishing, which previously published a Lower Decks miniseries, as well as several one-shots, revealed that it would be bringing the fan-favorite show back as an ongoing comic. Ryan North is returning to write the series while artist...

Warning: contains spoilers for Star Trek: Lower Decks #1!Star Trek finally explained why the Enterprise would not have survived without Mister Spock. The Enterprise’s Science Officer, Spock, was crucial to many of the ship’s victories. Spock’s formidable intellect was front and center in many of these triumphs, to the point it gave the Enterprise a serious advantage over its Starfleet brethren, and this gets a callout in Star Trek: Lower Decks #1.
Star Trek: Lower Decks #1 is written by Ryan North and drawn by Derek Charm. The Cerritos finds an older, derelict Starfleet vessel: the Bonaventure. The crew learns the truth: the Enterprise, under the command of Captain Kirk, found the Bonaventure trapped in the “Delta Triangle.” The Enterprise subsequently escaped, thanks to a formula Spock designed and implemented. The Bonaventure’s crew tried to duplicate the Enterprise’s trick, but without a “Spock of their own” to...

Warning: contains spoilers for Star Trek: Lower Decks #1!
Star Trek has confirmed Badgey’s fate after his ascension, and it is extremely dark. Star Trek: Lower Decks’ Badgey, a murderous, rogue AI created by Rutherford, has become one of the show’s most memorable characters. During Lower Decks’ fourth season, Badgey “ascended” to another plane of existence. While this could have been the end of his story, Star Trek: Lower Decks #1 confirms there is still reason to be afraid.
Badgey extols the virtue of his new existence, saying the only thing that brings him more joy is: “peeling faces off sentient beings like bananas.”
Star Trek: Lower Decks #1 is written by Ryan North and drawn by Derek Charm. The issue opens with a text piece, written by Badgey. He brings readers up to speed on what he has been doing since achieving godhood: spying on Rutherford, Boimler, Tendi and Beckett Mariner.

Idw’s new comic book title “Star Trek: Lower Decks”, now available, adapts the animated “Star Trek” spoof TV series, written by Ryan North and illustrated by Philip Murphy, with a main cover by Derek Charm:
“…the crew have beamed off the mysterious ‘USS Bonaventure’ and onto an equally mysterious surface of an unknown world, significantly raising the statistical likelihood of death and injury.
