“Dave McLean became not only a friend, but family to me during our eight seasons together on Arrow,” Stephen Amell says of The CW superhero series crew member who took his own life on October 9. “It hurts to lose such a vibrant spirit to struggles with mental health.”

Vancouver-based genny operator McLean was a member of the Lighting and Electrical department during the Greg Berlanti- and Marc Guggenheim-EP’d series’ 2012-20 run. Just days after his 50th birthday, the father of two disappeared from his British Columbia home. His family reported him missing on October 13. His body was discovered on October 21.

Launched just before Thanksgiving, a GoFundMe appeal has been coordinated by Amell and the McLean family. The campaign has raised just under Cdn $30,000 of their Cdn$50,000 goal so far, as you can see here.

Exclusive: Ahead of TIFF, Concourse Media has sold North American and UK rights on the adventure comedy Good Egg, starring Jane The Virgin actor Yara Martinez, to Vertical.

Written and directed by Nicole Gomez Fisher (Sleeping with the Fishes), the pic follows a warmhearted schoolteacher, played by Martinez, who inadvertently gets plunged into a dangerous scheme by her suspicious IVF egg donor, played by Andrea Londo (Narcos). As the thrilling escapade unfolds, Yara and her husband, played by Joel Johnstone (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), must outsmart their criminal pursuers amidst escalating chaos.

The film was produced by Fisher alongside Dorottya Mathe and Martinez. Martinez and Londo star alongside Priscilla Lopez (Maid in Manhattan), Joseph Melendez (Ozark), and Sharinna Allan (Billions), alongside Johnstone, Nick Creegan (Law and Order: Organized Crime), Haas Manning (Blue Bloods) and Nicholas Cirillo (Outer Banks). Exclusive: Concourse Media has acquired worldwide sales rights to comedy Good Egg ahead of its premiere at the Bentonville Film Festival this week.

The film follows a warmhearted schoolteacher, played by Yara Martinez, who inadvertently gets plunged into a dangerous scheme by her suspicious IVF egg donor, played by Andrea Londo (Narcos). As the adventure ensues, she and her husband, played by Joel Johnstone (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), must evade criminal captors.

Unite for Strength, the ruling party of SAG-AFTRA, announced its slate of candidates today in the union’s upcoming elections.

Michelle Hurd, currently serving on the national board, will be running for president of the Los Angeles local; Clyde Kusatsu and Ellen Crawford will be running for vice president slots. Kusatsu is currently the national vice president from La, and Crawford is a national board member. As previously reported, Camryn Manheim will be running for national secretary-treasurer as president Gabrielle Carteris’ running mate.

Two candidates are challenging Carteris for president: Jane Austin, currently the guild’s national secretary-treasurer who’s running for president as an independent, and Matthew Modine, who is running at the top of the ticket for Membership First. His slate has yet to be announced.

In New York, Rebecca Damon, national executive vice president and New York president, is running for re-election as New York president.

Our Best Drama Supporting Actress Emmy odds currently have Julia Garner out front to win for “Ozark,” but her co-star Janet McTeer, who joined the gritty Netflix drama in its second season, is back in 14th place.
