Exclusive: Filmmaker Jonathan Baker has announced Standing on the Shoulders of Fate, a behind-the-scenes documentary by Adam Davis on the making of Jonathan Baker’s feature Fate, which was set to star Donald Sutherland. The iconic actor died last summer before production started.

A highlight of the film is its portrayal of Baker’s year-long collaboration with the legendary Sutherland on what was intended to be his final film role.

Harvey Keitel ended up playing Sutherland’s role.

Highland Film Group has taken international sales for Fate.

Fate also stars Faye Dunaway, Andrew McCarthy, Brandon Routh and Mena Suvari.

The documentary is meant to provide a look at the intense creative process behind the film, which Baker crafted for under $15 million.

Baker’s next film Icon is in soft prep, eyeing a summer 2025 start with casting currently underway.

“In today’s climate, creating a film true to your vision is one of the hardest challenges.

Faye Dunaway, the New Hollywood darling of “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Network,” and “Chinatown,” is again returning to the big screen.

Dunaway has joined the cast of “The Evilry,” an indie horror film and supernatural thriller directed and written by Alexander Garcia, IndieWire has confirmed.

She joins a cast that includes Billy Zane, Brec Bassinger, Elena Kampouris, Dylan Walsh, Tony Pierce, Evan Ross, Marissa Reyes, and Teri Polo, all of whom were previously announced.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but “The Evilry” is described as a coming-of-age film centered on a visiting relative carrying a dark secret.

The film is scheduled to begin filming later this month in West Virginia.

One DC property fans will always be divided about when it comes to adaptations is Superman. Some didn't like that Henry Cavill's tenure as the Man of Steel was cut short. Others are waiting with bated breath over David Corenswet's Superman. However, there were even more different versions in the works.

Exclusive: Janet Montgomery (The Ex-Wife) has been cast in the second season of the Paramount+ original drama series 1923 in a recurring role. Montgomery will play Hillary, a thoughtful woman who does not want to see injustice go unpunished.

1923 follows a new generation of Duttons led by patriarch Jacob (Harrison Ford) and matriarch Cara (Helen Mirren). The series explores the early 20th century, when pandemics, historic drought and the end of Prohibition plague the Mountain West and the Duttons who call it home.

Exclusive: After wrapping production on his suspenseful romance Fate, starring Faye Dunaway, Harvey Keitel and Andrew McCarthy — a film currently in search of domestic distribution — director Jonathan Baker is gearing up for production in 2025 on Icon, which will be his final film.

Blending American immigration history with rock and roll, the film is about a soul that moves through a hundred years until it reaches its destiny as a rock star, using one family’s saga through immigration and musical history as its backdrop. Baker wrote the script with his Fate collaborator Michael Buhlman, with production to kick off in 2025. He’s also expected to produce for his Baker Entertainment Group.

“I’ve waited my entire life to share this story,” Baker told Deadline. “This narrative of Icon is crucial to America, highlighting the significance of immigration and how it shaped our nation. Our past is integral to our identity.

British actor Janet Montgomery has landed a starring role as a young Faye Dunaway in Jonathan Baker’s supernatural love story “Fate,” a film that is shooting in Vancouver for Baker Entertainment.

The film will toggle between a yesteryear version of the character (Montgomery) and a present-day incarnation (Dunaway), spanning much of the protagonist’s entire lifetime. “Fate” revolves around a firefighter (Brandon Routh) who connects with a stranger from the past Tilly (Montgomery) while he’s healing at a rehabilitation center and is transported through time to find the only thing saving his soul — his realization of true love, according to a producer’s logline.

Highland Film Group is selling rights to the $10 million film, which also stars Harvey Keitel, at the Cannes Marche.

Dunaway is on the ground in Cannes, where HBO screened the much-anticipated biographical documentary “Faye.”

Montgomery was cast out of hundreds of actors vying for the role.

Exclusive: Faye Dunaway (Bonnie & Clyde), Harvey Keitel (Bugsy) and Andrew McCarthy (The Blacklist) have signed on to star in Fate, a suspenseful, supernatural romance that will launch international sales via Highland Film Group at Cannes.

Set to enter production in Vancouver this month, the film’s plot is under wraps, though its key location, the fictional Vista hotel, is said to draw inspiration from the iconic Los Angeles movie theater of the same name, which filmmaker Quentin Tarantino refurbished in 2022. Jonathan Baker is directing and producing the project, which has been in development for five years, and tells Deadline, “there is an excellent chance it will stand as one of the most memorable love stories of our time.”

Known for iconic turns in films like Bonnie & Clyde and Chinatown, Dunaway comes to Fate after collaborating with Baker on his debut feature Inconceivable, a 2017 thriller also starring Gina Gershon, Nicky Whelan and Nicolas Cage.

Andrew McCarthy, Faye Dunaway and Harvey Keitel have been tapped to lead the cast of Jonathan Baker’s supernatural love story “Fate,” which begins shooting later this month for Baker Entertainment in Vancouver.

Keitel has starred in “Reservoir Dogs,” “Taxi Driver,” “Mean Streets,” “Pulp Fiction” and “Thelma and Louise.

Taking place June 5-16, the 2024 Tribeca Festival has unveiled its features lineup, featuring a selection of narrative, documentary, and animated films. World premiere highlights include Joel Potrykus’ Vulcanizadora, Michael Angarano’s Sacramento starring Michael Cera and Kristen Stewart, Jazzy, the latest collaboration between The Unknown Country director Morrisa Maltz and star Lily Gladstone.

The Tessa Thompson romance has landed a Dec. 25 global premiere date on Prime, following the streaming giant’s acquisition of the project at January’s Sundance Film Festival.

Jonathan Baker claims Randall Emmett told him if he agreed to co-finance and produce Inconceivable he'd return the favor by co-financing and producing a film of Baker's choosing.

Almost immediately after the funds were deposited, Baker claims, defendants paid themselves $650,000 more in producer fees than was agreed upon and failed to disclose the payment. Baker also claims defendants breached their deal by accepting additional financing from third parties and allowing those parties to be repaid first.

No less than two Oscar winners are hopelessly adrift in Jonathan Baker’s low-rent thriller that feels so much like a parody of a Lifetime television movie it should have starred Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig. In addition to entertaining the audience, I wanted to shed light on this subject—which affects so many couples—in an open forum to help dispel the secrecy and even shame surrounding this topic. The film provides the space for a real problem to play out (in an admittedly extreme way) in a fictional world. There are many people who want children that need the help, and this film strings viewers along for their struggle, but in a very different, arguably darker, way.”

“While the film at first focuses on IVF, the focus naturally dips into surrogate motherhood as it becomes the route used to solve the couple [played by Nicolas Cage and Gina Gershon]’s infertility,” Baker continues. “But is the surrogate mother potentially signing her unborn child’s life away? For the average couple, surrogacy does not connect with losing a child; however this thriller is all about exploring that fear. Allowing a stranger into your world can be frightening in itself, but such vulnerability is amplified with surrogacy. The film proves that IVF and surrogacy can create a dangerous cocktail of tension, paranoia, and fear that can destroy a family.”

Deception doesn’t always come from where you expect it to; sometimes it comes from your most trusted nanny as seen with Inconceivable. When a stranger is in the home, it is natural to fear something might go wrong. Such incidents have been widely broadcast in cases such as with Gwen Stefani, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Balthazar Getty, among others. Isn’t it weird that we trust strangers with our most prized possessions: children? I wanted to combine these topics to bring these fears to the screen, because fear is what gets people talking. Through discussion, society can better address such topics.

Overall, my goal for this film was to make something that matters and really hits home with people. Infertility is a harsh reality for many prospective parents, and I wanted to help contribute to such an important dialogue as this. I want my movie to bring the topics out of hiding and into open discussion. That’s why ‘deception hits home’ is such a fraught tag line for the movie.”

If the mere sight of his bulging biceps didn't already tip you off, the actor showed off his incredible strength on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday when he was challenged to do pull-ups to help raise money for charity.

DeGeneres explained that for every pull-up he did, $1,000 would be donated to aid in breast-cancer awareness.

Before starting, Wahlberg announced that his goal was to do two pull-ups, but hoped to reach five. But as soon as he stepped up to the bar, it was clear the actor was just being modest.

Tonight's episode, kicked off with Kaitlyn going outside to confront Kupah for yelling at the camera man like a freaking lunatic.
