Exclusive: Wicked Lake Director's Cut Blu-Ray Specs/Release Details
Zach Passero, director of the 2008 Fever Dreams/Media Blasters feature Wicked Lake, has given Dread Central the skinny on the release plans for his director's cut of that feature. Hitting Blu-Ray on June 29, 2010, the disc will contain the original cut with the director's cut (titled Wicked, Wicked Lake) as a bonus that will feature an introduction by the filmmaker.

While the packaging will (sadly, in this writer’s estimation) remain the same, here’s a breakdown of the disc’s special features.

“Bring Me the Head of Damien DeKay” – a prank Halloween piece “Forking” – a Super 8mm film starring Chris Sivertson, Lucky McKee, Justin Stone, and Luke Thompson “So Anyways” – A weirdo short piece “More City Bitches” – Deleted scenes, alternate takes, and bloopers “We Be the Police” – A Jake and Ray short piece Trailers – the original Wicked Lake teaser pre-principal photography and a trailer for the Passero-helmed feature Motel, Glimpse...

Event Report: Screamfest La Mixer in Hollywood, CA
This scribe co-hosted last night’s Screamfest La ‘Night of Mayhem’ mixer at the hipster hangout Kung Pao Kitty in Hollywood, CA, and brought back a slew of photos as well as release info and word on a couple of flicks you may be interested in.

In attendance for the industry mixer (which was sponsored by Rachel Belofsky’s horror film festival Screamfest La, which runs this year October 8 through 17 at Manns 6 at Hollywood and Highland in Hollywood, CA) were horror luminaries Ryan Rotten (managing editor of Shock Till You Drop) and Dominique Lee as well as filmmakers Creep (Brides of Sodom) Creepersin, Trailer Park of Terror director Steven Goldmann, Alluvial director Geza Decsy, producer Armond Sardayani and actor Brent Henry, director Yossi (Dead and Gone) Sasson, filmmaker Sean (Silent Night, Zombie Night) Cain, Finale filmmaker John Michael Elfers and actress Denesa Chan, Wicked Lake alumni Zach Passero, Justin Stone and Luke Thompson,...

A young, talented director who is quickly making his mark in the Japanese filmmaking scene. At the tender age of 25, he directed his first major feature-length film, “Midnight Sun.” “Midnight Sun” was not only critically-acclaimed, but became a commercial hit, grossing over 1 billion yen at the Japanese boxoffice. His latest film, “Gachi Boy Wrestling with a Memory,” won the grand prix at the Udine Far East Film Festival.
