- Tony Bracy is an award-winning writer, producer, and director from South Central Los Angeles whose spirit and imagination were never confined by the dangers of growing up in an underserved community. He penned his first musical play in the eighth grade-and with that, the fire was lit. Over forty years later, he still hasn't put down his pen.
In 2024, Tony published his most personal and powerful work to date: Trials of Faith: How I Lost My Front Row Seat in Heaven but Still Made It Through the Gates-a 135-story memoir grounded in trauma, transformation, and triumph. Raw, honest, and soul-stirring, the book has been widely embraced within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) as a tool for rehabilitation and reentry preparation. Trials of Faith and its companion workbook are now being implemented in multiple state institutions, serving as a beacon of hope for justice-impacted individuals seeking healing, literacy, and redemption.
Tony has dedicated countless hours to inspiring and mentoring youth in the arts and in life. For over twenty years, he served as resident stage manager for Wendy Raquel Robinson's Amazing Grace Conservatory, a performing arts school in South Central Los Angeles. He has also donated his time and talents to South Bay Conservatory, Color Your Dream Academy, and the Institute of Young Black Leadership.
In 2020, Tony founded Brace Yourself, Inc., a nonprofit media arts organization that pairs young artists with experienced industry professionals to bring bold creative visions to life. His mission is to create works that touch souls while uplifting spirits. Under his leadership, Brace Yourself! films have won national and international film festival awards, been featured on global television broadcasts, and even incorporated into college and university curricula.
Tony's life purpose was revealed to him in a moment of divine clarity in 1999. Since then, he has risen from the ashes to become not just a award winning writer/producer, but a living example of what purpose, faith, and love can achieve. Writing isn't just what he does-it's who he is. As Tony puts it:
"I write when no one is watching, when no one is reading, and when no one is paying. Writing and producing is the expression of my purpose, polished through years of transforming an overactive imagination into stories and messages that provoke thought into action."
His career reflects a deep commitment to bridging the gap between what was, what is, and what can be. With a track record of success in planning, executing, and completing creative projects and media campaigns, Tony is known for his attention to detail, collaborative spirit, and relentless drive for excellence.
An entrepreneurial self-starter, Tony brings vision, curiosity, and problem-solving to every stage of the writing and production process. From script to the screen, page to the stage, and pitch to execution, he collaborates across disciplines to breathe life into powerful stories.
As a communicator and public speaker, he's equally gifted. Tony has hosted UCLA's Graduation Ceremony, performed stand-up comedy on national television, and earned accolades as a screenwriter and filmmaker-demonstrating mastery in storytelling across various mediums.
With an eclectic writing background that spans technical, corporate, marketing, theater, television, and film, Tony brings a rare versatility that allows him to serve a wide range of genres and audiences. Most of all, he is a generous collaborator, a fearless creative, and a passionate team player who believes that nothing is impossible with the right team and positive attitude.
