India’s First Formula One Driver Narain Karthikeyan Gets Biopic Treatment With Mahesh Narayanan’s ‘Nk 370’ (Exclusive)
Image
Mahesh Narayanan, the acclaimed Indian director behind “Take Off,” “Malik,” and Locarno title “Ariyippu,” is set to helm “Nk 370” (working title), a Tamil-language feature film chronicling the extraordinary journey of Narain Karthikeyan, India’s first Formula One driver.

The project, currently in development at India’s Blue Marble Films, will be produced by Faraz Ahsan, Vivek Rangachari, and Pratik Maitra. Amish Shah and Nilaanjan Reeta Datta will serve as associate producers. The screenplay comes from Shalini Usha Devi, who penned the critically acclaimed “Soorarai Pottru.”

“Narain Karthikeyan’s journey isn’t just about racing. It’s about belief — in yourself, your country, and a dream no one else can see. That’s what drew me to this story,” said Narayanan.

The film follows Karthikeyan’s remarkable rise from a rebellious boy in Coimbatore to the international racing circuit, overcoming class, color, and crashes to reach Formula One’s pinnacle.

Hill Review: Portrait of the Driver as a Haunted Man
Image
To be the son of a legend is to be born a ghost. Alex Holmes’s documentary, Hill, understands this existential bind, framing the life of Formula 1 driver Damon Hill not as a sports biography but as a quiet, psychological thriller.

The subject is less the 1996 World Champion and more the man perpetually navigating the shadow cast by his father, Graham, himself a two-time champion and an icon of a more cavalier era. This is not a film about racing so much as it is a study of inheritance—the weight of a name, the specter of a legacy, and the fight for an identity that is one’s own.

Holmes sets a reflective, almost melancholy tone from the start. The narrative structure discards the simple chronology of victory for a deeper probe into the architecture of a psyche shaped by profound loss and a quiet, relentless determination.

Brad Pitt's F1 Praised for Racing Accuracy as It Debuts With Thrilling Score
Image
Brad Pitt's new sports drama, F1, is not the first film to try to bring the adrenaline-pumping environment of racing to the big screen. However, it looks like it's the first one to get it right.

The new sports drama has Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski at the helm, with a script by Ehren Kruger. Kosinski has previously proven his skills with the billion-dollar Top Gun sequel and other exciting action films, and he delivers again with the racing drama, which was filmed and produced with the involvement of Fia, the Formula 1 governing body, as well as several racing drivers like seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton. Ahead of its worldwide release on June 27, F1 debuted with a thrilling 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

F1 follows Sonny Hayes, a former Formula 1 driver who had a horrible crash that forced him to retire, failing to reach his potential. However,...

Brad Pitt's Driving In New Movie Was Approved By One Of The Greatest F1 Racers Of All Time
Image
F1: The Movie director Joseph Kosinski reveals that one of the greatest Formula One drivers in the sport's history approved Brad Pitt's real driving in the film. Serving as Kosinski's follow-up to the acclaimed Top Gun: Maverick (2022), the upcoming Apple blockbuster features Pitt in the role of Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One driver who leaves retirement in order to team up with an ambitious younger racer named Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris). As has been shown off in the F1: The Movie trailers, Pitt does much of his own driving in the movie on real F1 tracks.

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kosinski addresses Pitt and Idris' driving in F1: The Movie, revealing that legendary Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton personally signed off on their practical racing stunts. Though the director admits that it was "nerve-wracking" to watch Pitt and Idris driving at such high speeds,...

“Watch this flop”: 1 Glaring Issue With Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’ Movie Has Formula 1 Fans Upset
Image
The Apple TV+ original movie F1 is finally approaching the starting line. After years of hype—teasers, trailers, and spotting Brad Pitt and Damson Idris at real F1 weekends, fans are buzzing with excitement like a V12 engine on full throttle.

To maintain momentum, distributor Warner Bros. recently released the main trailer, and reactions have been mixed. The film is executive produced by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton, who has been hands-on in making sure the movie captures the authenticity of the sport, and that effort definitely shows.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the visionary behind Top Gun: Maverick, the film boasts stunning cinematography and a commitment to realism. Still, despite all the right ingredients, social media—especially X (formerly Twitter)—has been flooded with divided opinions about the trailer’s tone, dialogue, and overall vibe.

The F1 movie’s main trailer is out, and the reactions are mixed Fictional F...

As a Longtime Formula 1 Fan, I Swear the Only Good Thing in the ‘F1’ Trailer Is Checo in Red Bull Gear
Image
It’s been nearly two years since I first heard about the upcoming F1 movie, and I was thrilled. With Apple TV+ and Warner Bros. teasing us through glimpses and trailers, and Lewis Hamilton on board as an executive producer, my excitement only grew. But as more promotional material rolled out, that excitement slowly turned into concern: Are they making the movie for the fans, or are they making it to attract more fans to the sport?

On first look, everything sounds perfect, the movie is directed by the legend Joseph Kosinski, there’s F1 licensing, real racers from F1 present as themselves, and filmed when the actual Gp took place, sounds like a dream of any F1 fan; but you know what else had all these except the director? The series Drive to Survive, and I absolutely hate what they did with the sport.

Is the F1 movie a...

Lewis Hamilton, George Russell & More F1 Drivers Pay Tribute to Eddie Jordan Ahead of Chinese Grand Prix
Image
The second Formula 1 race of the season is taking place on Sunday (March 23) in Shanghai, China.

Ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix, the drivers, team principals and more took time before the drivers parade to pay tribute to the late Eddie Jordan, who passed away this past week.

Eddie was a racecar driver before starting his own Formula 1 team, Jordan Grand Prix in 1991, where he gave Michael Schumacher his debut season.

Current F1 drivers, including Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and reserve driver Zhou Guanyu, Mercedes’ George Russell, Alpine’s Jack Doohan and more all took a moment prior to the race to honor the late, iconic team owner.

“We are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Eddie Jordan,” F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali previously shared in a statement. “With his inexhaustible energy he always knew how to make people smile, remaining genuine and brilliant at all times.

‘Drive to Survive’ Lost Its Hero With Daniel Ricciardo, but Season 8 May Have the Next Best Thing: “Not scared to screw each other over”
Image
There is a lot to unpack in Drive to Survive. Be it the show’s meticulous approach to fabricating storylines for its own benefit or defending said storylines in a righteously indignant manner, the Netflix docu-series offers an unusual way of looking at the same race from very different perspectives. But the one constant that both Netflix and critics could agree on was everyone’s favorite Aussie: Daniel Ricciardo.

However, now that the Honey Badger has retired, there exists a huge chasm in the space that he once used to fill with his brimming confidence and infectious laughter. While it will be difficult for Drive to Survive to find a fitting replacement within the current lineup of F1 drivers, the series can make a full 180° turn and go for the ultimate villain to fill the vacancy left by the ultimate hero.

Toto Wolff vs Christian Horner Net Worth: Who Is the Richest Team Principal Between ‘Drive to Survive’ Archenemies?
Image
Despite the immense popularity that Netflix’s Drive to Survive brought to two of its leading figureheads: Toto Wolff and Christian Horner, the sport is not the first and only means of earnings that established the two rivals in the world of Formula 1.

As competitors, it doesn’t get any better than Wolff and Horner – as one led Mercedes at the height of its power with Lewis Hamilton as the seven-time world champion, and the other is now leading Red Bull with its star performer Max Verstappen succeeding Hamilton as the new generation’s legend.

However, coming down to the brass tacks, there can never be two winners on the board. As Wolff and Horner battle it out on the tracks, one can hardly help but look at all the accomplishments over the years that...

The history of Formula 1 is certainly lucrative, with the highest class of international racing now in its 75th year since its 1950 inception. Since then, many names have been immortalized among the annals of the sport, with the likes of Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, and Lewis Hamilton becoming household names the world over. In recent years, it's been the turn of Max Verstappen and his Red Bull team to take charge, although the battle with Lando Norris across the 2024 season has proven F1 is never a foregone conclusion.

‘Drive to Survive’ Season 7 Missed George Russell Matching Michael Schumacher’s Worst F1 Record That Made No Sense
Image
Despite the surmounting rumors about its malicious and misleading content, Drive to Survive enjoys a certain degree of fame and respect among modern-day viewers. Fans have yet to find a fault with the Netflix series that’s serious enough to bring the show down for good. But the F1 docuseries continues to disappoint, like always.

Drive to Survive Season 7 [Credit: Netflix]

In its latest run with Season 7, Drive to Survive not only leaves crucial and fantastic storylines out of the narrative but also misleads the viewers by omission of facts. Most of the season rides on a nostalgia high by using the many emotional farewells and new arrivals to its advantage while forgetting to factor in cases like George Russell’s worst humiliation of the season.

Drive to Survive ignores George Russell’s humiliation George Russell (R) with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff and new teammate Kimi Antonelli (L) in Drive to...

5 Reasons Why Senna on Netflix Was a Complete Disaster
Image
Netflix has released a highly anticipated biographical drama miniseries on the legendary Brazilian Formula One racer Ayrton Senna. A high-stakes project since its inception in 2020, the show was met with sheer disappointment. The reviews from critics and fans ring a similar tone of dissatisfaction. The legacy of the Brazilian hero was not easy to do justice to. But the Netflix series barely managed to scrape the surface of his life.

A still from Senna miniseries | Credits: Netflix

While the series had great potential of winning hearts with Senna’s larger-than-life story, Netflix seems to have fallen short in its attempt to present a dramatized version of Senna’s life fully. There are many things wrong with this miniseries. However, five significant flaws in the show convince viewers that the show is an absolute disaster.

The Unfortunate Reason Why Michael Schumacher Did Not Attend Ayrton Senna’s Funeral
Image
In the world of Formula 1, the sport often demands much more than just speed and skill. It demands sacrifice, resilience, and sometimes the ability to navigate through grief. When Ayrton Senna tragically passed away during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, the impact on his fellow drivers was profound, especially on Michael Schumacher, who was just beginning to rise as one of the sport’s most formidable talents.

True, Senna was the leader of his generation—driven, competitive, and intensely passionate. Schumacher, a young upstart, was beginning to challenge Senna’s dominance on the track, but the latter’s loss left him questioning the very purpose of racing.

However, why didn’t Schumacher, who admired Senna both as a rival and a driver, attend his funeral? The answer is more complicated than one might think!

Ferrari arrived in a blaze of glory before fizzling out with the whispers of time. Editor Is Sacked After Publishing Michael Schumacher Fake Interview In German Magazine
Image
The editor of a German magazine that ran an “interview” with former Formula One champion Michael Schumacher – including quotes generated by artificial intelligence – has been sacked.

The publishers of Die Aktuelle, a weekly magazine owned by Funke media group – have also apologised to Schumacher’s family, who said this week they planned legal action.

Funke managing director Bianca Pohlmann announced: “This tasteless and misleading article should never have appeared. It in no way meets the standards of journalism that we and our readers expect from a publisher like Funke.

“As a result of the publication of this article, immediate personnel consequences will be drawn. Die Aktuelle editor-in-chief Anne Hoffmann, who has held journalistic responsibility for the paper since 2009, will be relieved of her duties as of today.”

Formula 1: Michael Schumacher's Ferrari fetches 13 million Swiss francs at auction
Image
Geneva (Switzerland), Nov 10 (Ians) Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F2003-ga was sold for 13 million Swiss francs at an auction in Switzerland.

The F2003 was one of the most successful cars ever driven by the German Formula 1 driver, who won five races and the 2003 World Championship with it.

An unknown buyer bought Chassis 229 with a bid on the telephone, surpassing every bid after the price hit 10 million francs within 15 minutes at the Sotheby’s auction in Geneva on Wednesday.

The auction house Sotheby’s, which had estimated that the Ferrari would sell for up to 9.5 million francs, showed the final price as 14.69 million francs including fees and taxes.

The Chassis 229 was given Ferrari’s “Red Book” certification and was restored in 2022 at the firm’s Maranello factory.

Schumacher drove it for the first time on his way to winning the 2003 Spanish Grand Prix, the fifth race of that season.

Incredibly proud of the record 14 race wins in a year, says Max Verstappen
Image
Mexico City, Oct 31 (Ians) Dutch Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen has expressed his surprise at winning a record 14 races in a year and eclipsing the feats of Germany’s Michael Schumacher (2004) and Sebastian Vettel (2013), who have 13 race wins in a year.

Verstappen made history as he beat Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton to claim his 14th victory of the 2022 season at the Mexican Grand Prix after an intriguing strategic battle at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez here on Sunday.

The Red Bull driver said he was “incredibly proud” to achieve the feat.

Verstappen took pole position by more than three-tenths as Mercedes’ George Russell qualified on the front row and Lewis Hamilton qualified third on Saturday. Verstappen — on soft tyres while the Mercedes chose mediums — retained his lead in Sunday’s race, and it soon became clear that he would be able to pull off a one-stop strategy and win, which he did by...

Schumacher Documentary Trailer Brings the Racing Icon to Netflix This September
Image
Michael Schumacher is regarded as one of, if not the, best of drivers in the long history of Formula One. With his seemingly unbreakable records just being broken by Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, many still regard Michael Schumacher as the best driver ever, and those same fans went nuts when Netflix announced a documentary on Schumacher. Releasing on September 15, 2021, Formula One fans all over the globe have marked their calendars for the day. With sports documentaries becoming better and better by the passing year, taking Drive To Survive, and All Or Nothing as prime examples, there should be no reason as to why fans do not expect this documentary to achieve the same feat.

Schumacher contains never before seen footage from the life of Michael Schumacher, and features interviews from friends and family, as well as Formula One colleagues, such as Sebastian Vettel, Jean Todt, Mika Hakkinen, Damon Hill and even David Coulthard.

Every Netflix movie streaming this fall
Image
This year, Netflix grabbed a whopping 35 Oscar nominations for its slate of original movies, including 10 nominations for David Fincher’s “Mank,” six nominations for Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” and five nominations for the August Wilson adaptation “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” which featured the final performance from star and Best Actor nominee Chadwick Boseman. The total number of nominations for the streaming service ranked among the most ever by a single studio and dwarfed the Netflix tally in 2020 when the platform grabbed 24 nominations to lead all distributors.

But judging merely by quantity, 2021 could become the biggest year yet for Netflix. Over the final four months of the year, the studio will debut more than 40 titles, including new movies from past Oscar favorites like Adam McKay, Jane Campion, and Paolo Sorrentino as well as buzzy features from first-time filmmakers such as Lin-Manuel Miranda and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Charlotte Gainsbourg in Lux Æterna (2019)
Cannes Has Plenty of Titles for Sale, But Fewer of the Ones That Buyers Want
Charlotte Gainsbourg in Lux Æterna (2019)
The Cannes Film Festival competition began today with the premiere of Jim Jarmusch’s “The Dead Don’t Die,” but top North American distributors can’t afford to be distracted. They serve a market in which only the most carefully calibrated selections will thrive — and those who hesitate will almost certainly lose to the streaming buyers. With some of the best stuff already bought, theatrical distributors are forced to to look toward films that have yet to be shot.

Before the festival, HBO Sports scooped up “Diego Maradona,” British documentarian Asif Kapadia’s follow-up to Oscar-winning Cannes hit “Amy.” And after a 20-year symbiotic relationship, Spc acquired Spanish auteur Pedro Almodovar’s “Pain & Glory” at the script stage two years ago, which now looks like an early contender for top prizes. Spc now has rights to all his films, and will book repertory Almodovar tributes in many cities around the film’s October opening.
