In the documentary "Iraq for Sale" Doug had to shame the producers into including an industry perspective. However, after a one hour interview they used only a few seconds of the interview: perhaps the only part that didn't undermine their thesis.

In 1992 Doug quit his job and cashed in his retirement to do shoestring travel for a year and a half, mostly hitchhiking, from Belfast to Hong Kong.
