Joey Palmroos wrote and directed the story starring Alexander Arnold, whose credits include The Last Breath, as a food delivery driver who gets trapped in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse in the snowy Minnesota backcountry.

Pursued by a relentless and mysterious snowplough, Lee must rely on his resourcefulness and determination to survive the night. The cast includes Liam James Collins, Nadine Higgin, Arthur Sylense, and Thom Chacon.

Exclusive: Jackrabbit Media has picked up world sales rights and North American distribution on The Mannequin. The company will introduce the title to international buyers at this week’s Cannes market.

The Mannequin is written and directed by John Berardo (Initiation) and stars Isabella Gomez (One Day at a Time), Krystle Martin (The Mean One), Lindsay Lavanchy (Predator: Killer of Killers), Jack Sochet (Smile) and Maxwell Hamilton (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore).

Stefan Colson makes his feature directorial debut based on a screenplay by Brandon Cahela about a sheriff and his deputy who dealing with a band of outlaws in the dying town of Red Ridge.

Ben Van Kleek directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Trevor Vandelac about a journalist’s childhood trauma which resurfaces during an investigation into a woman who claims her son was abducted by aliens.

Alaina Huffman (Smallville), Osric Chau (Superhost) and Ken Kirby (Good Trouble) star and Josh Farnworth, Van Kleek, and Vandelac served as producers. The film just premiered at Austin Film Festival.

Chad Faust’s feature directorial debut is based on his own screenplay about a young woman who returns to her hometown to exact revenge on her abusive father, only to learn someone murdered him the day before.

Lionsgate has revealed a trailer for The Doorman. This is a new action/thriller led by Ruby Rose, Jean Reno. Ryuhei Kitamura directs what is described by the studio as a "punishing action-thriller." Based on what we can see from the trailer, that appears to be an accurate description.

The trailer opens up with an explosion-filled action scene that sees bullets, and Ruby Rose, fly. This helps set up her character, an ex-soldier, who is at the center of the tale. After leaving the armed forces, she then finds herself a quiet yet steady job working at an apartment building. All seems well. However, a gang of armed thugs shows up with criminal intent, which throws a wrench in the gears. Rose's character ends up on the wrong side of this group, ultimately duking it out with them. Punches (and bullets) fly, the body count rises and Rose even gets a one-liner in.

Exclusive: Gravitas Ventures is adding to its growing acquisition slate with the lastest pick-up, Foster Boy, a courtroom drama starring Matthew Modine, Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr., Julie Benz, and Shane Paul McGhie. Gravitas has the North American distribution rights and is planning a theatrical and on-demand release on September 25.

Brenda Bakke, Amy Brenneman, Michael Beach, and Greg Germann also star in the film, which has played at a number of festivals including the International Black Film Festival, Pan African Film Festival, and Woodstock Film Festival.

Exclusive: Vertigo Releasing has picked up the Craig Fairbrass-starring thriller Villain for UK and Ireland release.

Pic is the directing debut of Philip Barantini, whose short Boiling Point starring Stephen Graham was recently nominated for a Bifa. Barantini also has acting credits including Chernobyl, Humans and Band Of Brothers.

Villain follows Eddie Franks, a man who is released from prison after serving a 10 year sentence and attempts to help his family by reconnecting with his daughter and clearing is brother’s debt. Despite his best efforts, he finds himself drawn back into a life of crime, with devastating consequences. Bart Ruspoli produced the feature.

Also starring are Robert Glenister (Live By Night), George Russo (I Am Soldier) and Izuka Hoyle (Mary Queen of Scots).

Zeitgeist Films and Kino Lorber on Tuesday said they have co-acquired U.S. rights to Ken Loach’s Sorry We Missed You, which had its world premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The news comes as the pic readies for a screening at the Toronto Film Festival next month. The plan is for Zeitgeist to release the film beginning March 6, 2020 in New York with a national rollout following; Kino Lorber will handle the digital release. Penned by Paul Laverty, Sorry We Missed You examines the implications of the service economy are seen through the eyes of a British delivery worker (Kris Hitchen), his caregiver wife (Debbie Honeywood) and their two children. The pic, written by 24-Hour Party People scribe Frank Contrell Boyce based on his own short story and directed by first-time feature director and Boyce collaborator Carl Hunter, centers on Alan (Nighy), a stylish tailor with moves as sharp as his suits. He has spent years searching tirelessly for his missing son Michael, who stormed out over a game of Scrabble. With a body to identify and his family torn apart, Alan must repair the relationship with his youngest son Peter and solve the mystery of an online player who he thinks could be Michael, so he can finally move on and reunite his family.

His only contact with the outside world is a compassionate counter-terrorism agent on the other end of his cell phone. Script comes from A.J. Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce are set to star in “Long Gone Heroes,” an upcoming action film and war story being presented to buyers at Cannes.

Producer Jason Moring and financier Double Dutch International announced on Tuesday that Kingsley and Pearce were attached to the feature that is written and will be directed by Santiago Manes Moreno.

Sir Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce are teaming up for action feature Long Gone Heroes. The special forces thriller will be launched in Cannes by Double Dutch International.

Directed by Santiago Manes Moreno (Alfred Hitchcock’s Gun), the film is produced by 7ONE7 Films with Moreno and If Beale Street Could Talk production manager Ines Mongil-Echandi, producing alongside Noli Mollakuqe (Warning Shot), Double Dutch International boss Jason Moring, Stanley Preschutti (Think Like A Dog) and Mark Padilla (Super Troopers 2) with Jay Fragus exec producing.

Santiago Manes Moreno is directing from his own script. “Long Gone Heroes” is produced by 7ONE7 Films. Producers are Ines Mongil-Echandi (“If Beale Street Could Talk”), Moreno and Noli Mollakuqe, along with Jason Moring, Stanley Preschutti, and Mark Padilla of Ddi. Executive producer is Jay Fragus.

Craig Fairbrass and Robert Glenister have joined the cast of UK crime thriller Villain, the feature debut of Philip Barantini which has started shooting on location in London.

North American sales firm Double Dutch International (Ddi) has come on board to handle sales at next month’s Marché du Film in Cannes (May 14-23).

The film follows a former criminal’s release from prison, and his attempts to help his family by reconnecting with his daughter and clearing his brother’s debt.

Mark Monero and Izuka Hoyle have also joined the cast alongside Fairbrass and Glenister.

While in Berlin, Mark Padilla, Double Dutch International senior vp sales and acquisitions, will be flying the flag for a company expanding in the face of indie film headwinds, not retrenching. “We’ve seen other companies shrink in the marketplace,” Padilla tells THR. “We’re hiring. Doorman, which is slated to shoot in April 2019, tells the story of an officer in the Marines who becomes traumatized while serving her country and returns home looking for an opportunity to heal. She seeks refuge as a doorman at a labyrinthine, historic, New York apartment building but discovers that mercenaries are intent on destroying everything in their way to retrieve precious art hidden in the building walls.

Rose’s star is high following her lead casting in CW’s Batwoman, and turns in box office hits The Meg, John Wick: Chapter 2, xXx: Return of Xander Cage.

Screen Media has acquired North American rights to the animated holiday film “Elliot: The Littlest Reindeer,” which will hit U.S. theaters Nov. 30.

Written and directed by Jennifer Westcott, the film follows Elliot (voiced by Josh Hutcherson), a miniature horse whose lifelong dream is to pull Santa’s sleigh. He gets his chance after Blitzen retires, and travels to the north pole with his friend Hazel the goat to compete for the open spot.

Along with Hutcherson (“The Hunger Games”), the film features Samantha Bee as Hazel, with John Cleese, Martin Short, Jeff Dunham, and Morena Baccarin.

Screen Media has bought U.S. distribution rights to Josh Hutcherson’s animated movie “Elliot: The Littlest Reindeer” and set a holiday-season release for Nov. 30, Variety has learned exclusively.

The voice cast includes Josh Hutcherson as Elliot, Samantha Bee as Hazel the goat, John Cleese, Martin Short, Jeff Dunham, and Morena Baccarin. The animated film is directed by Jennifer Westcott from her own script, and produced by Lucas Lynette-Krech and Awesometown Entertainment in association with Elgin Road Productions.

Jason Moring’s Toronto-based Double Dutch International (Ddi) has come on board to handle two new sales titles in Berlin, boarding international rights to Mark Pellington’s Nostalgia and Romans starring Orlando Bloom.

Nostalgia stars Jon Hamm, Catherine Keener, Bruce Dern and Ellen Burstyn and explores the meaning of objects, artifacts and memories that shape our lives.

Pellington co-wrote the screenplay with Alex Ross Perry, who wrote the upcoming Disney release Christopher Robin, and produced the film with Tom Gorai, his collaborator on Arlington Road. Bleecker Street will release Nostalgia theatrically in North America on February 16.
