Jason Momoa joins mosh pit at Black Sabbath's final gig
Image
Jason Momoa, star of Game of Thrones, Dune, A Minecraft Movie and much more, hosted the "Back to the Beginning" heavy metal festival this past weekend in Birmingham, England. The festival was a big deal, since it marked the final time that the original members of Black Sabbath — Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler — would appear onstage together. Bands like Metallica, Slayer, Guns N' Roses, Gojira, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastodon, and Pantera all showed up to honor Black Sabbath.

For a metalhead like Momoa, it was a dream come true. Originally, he just wanted to attend the concert, but then Ozzy's wife Sharon Osbourne reached out and offered him the hosting gig. "I'm over here begging for a ticket and now they want me to host it!" he told Kerrang! "I've never hosted anything before but I've gotta go out in front...

Image
This year’s Guest Director, the Grammy-nominated and genre-defying musician, composer and activist Anoushka Shankar, has worked with Brighton Festival to shape an inspiring, culture-crossing contemporary music programme which centres collaboration and celebrates boldness, diversity and connection. The programme offers opportunities for people to come together and imagine new possibilities, in line with the Brighton Festival 2025 theme New Dawn.

Anoushka Shankar says: “By bringing together artists and modalities from all over the world, with their rich and varied heritages, we can reimagine what’s possible, through music. There are so many artists that I’m excited about, who will bring their unique perspectives, creativity and passion to the Festival. It’s a music programme we want everyone to connect with and feel part of and feel inspired by.”

Anoushka Shankar will perform her brand-new album Chapter III: We Return to Light for the first time in the UK in Brighton Dome Concert Hall.

Darcey: "You look the part – absolutely stunning. To help strengthen your performance use those beautiful eyes.

Ian Richardson in Number 10 (1983)
Vote now: Can 8 of our favourite fictional Prime Ministers beat the real one?
Ian Richardson in Number 10 (1983)
As Britain digests the results of its General Election, a look back at some of the most memorable prime ministers from TV and the movies reveals a bunch only marginally more disconcerting than some of the real-life options.

Operating on a scale from complete idiocy through to full-blown murderous villainy, were they actually on the ballot paper, you'd probably do well to think twice before putting an X in their box. But you can be sure of one terrifying thought - someone out there would.

So who would you vote for, given the choice between the real prime minister and 8 of TV and film's most memorable premiers? Find out more about our fictional candidates below...

Heather McDonald, Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner, and Khloé Kardashian in Kris (2013)
Watch Kris Jenner Show Off Cleavage During a Sexy Candy Cane Dance
Heather McDonald, Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner, and Khloé Kardashian in Kris (2013)
Turns out Kendall Jenner isn't the only Jenner who recently got sexy for Love magazine.

Just a week after the magazine released video of the 19-year-old supermodel clad in black lingerie and getting spanked by Santa, it's now her momager Kris' turn.

Dancing to the Scissor Sisters' "Let's Have a Kiki," the 59-year-old mother of six gives her best poses and shows off some seductive dance moves for the magazine's annual Advent calendar video.

Photos: Stars in Their Underwear

At one point in the video, she boldly pulls open her black tuxedo dress to reveal some cleavage, using a striped candy cane as a prop.

This of course isn't the first time Kris has gotten in on her daughter's modeling fun.

In August, Kris crashed a controversial DuJour photoshoot featuring both Kendall and Kylie Jenner, dancing with the male model who was supposed to be posing with Kendall.

Ian McKellen: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
New Line Cinema

Star of stage and screen. Activist. Friend to ragged-haired popstars who cuddle up to him on chat show sofas like stray cats who have come in for the warmth. Ian McKellen has been many things over the course of his long, storied career, and in that time he has earned himself plenty of platitudes (Commander of the Order Of The British Empire, knighted for services to the performing arts, and Companion Of Honour for services to drama and to equality to name but three) as evidence to that.

But really, do you need any more evidence besides the fact that he hasn’t been out of work since he made his West End debut in 1965. That’s a straight half century of acting, during which time he’s only gone from strength to strength, soon making the leap from reciting Shakespeare on the stage to similarly high...

Judy Murray and Anton du Beke exit Strictly Come Dancing in Blackpool
Judy Murray and her dance partner Anton du Beke have become the seventh couple to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing.

The tennis coach and her professional partner lost out in the dance-off to Casualty actress Sunetra Sarker and her partner Brendan Cole in the show's Blackpool special.

Murray and Du Beke had struggled in Saturday's live show, scoring 24 points for their Viennese Waltz to 'Let's Go Fly a Kite' from Mary Poppins and landing at the bottom of the leaderboard last night (November 15).

They were joined in the bottom two by Sarker and Cole, who scored 30 points for their samba to the Scissor Sisters' 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin''.

Both couples found themselves having to perform again after the judges scores and viewer votes were combined.

Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli all chose to save Sarker and Cole, with head judge Len Goodman adding that he agreed with their choice.

Cupcakes review feelgood Israeli musical comedy
Eytan Fox's musical comedy about a bunch of Israelis who are surprise song-contest entrants has a big dollop of Almodóvar thrown in

Eytan Fox's feelgood musical comedy treads little new ground on the dancefloor, but is no less enjoyable for it. The story centres on a group of friends gathered in theTel Aviv apartment of Ofer (Ofer Shechter) to watch Universong, a Eurovision parody. Despite an attempt at enthusiasm with booze, bunting (of sorts) and a camp singalong, it's "un point" to Israel (British audiences will relate). They break into a spontaneously made-up song to cheer themselves up, and a mobile phone recording makes its way to the show's judges, they become Israel's next official entry. If you're a fan of the genre, you'll know how the find-your-own-voice melody goes and ends and you shouldn't lament the lack of complex character development too much. With a big handful...

The Voice battles: Rachael vs Amelia - Who knows Kylie best?
It's that time again - the second round of battles on The Voice are on Saturday, and yet again we're nibbling our nails and wondering who's going to go through. Last week's mentor based quizzes did not help us to correctly predict the results, to be quite honest, but never ones to be deterred, we're going to power through and see if we have better luck this time around. First up, it's Team Kylie's similarly-surnamed Rachael O'Connor and Amelia O'Connell. When they weren't making us feel old, they tested their Kylie knowledge - then talked about their battle...

The Voice: Katy B, Tinie Tempah, more join as mentors - pictures
The Voice coaches will invite their famous friends along to help their contestants on this weekend's episode.

As the legendary battle round begins, each Voice coach will have a guest mentor who can help them prepare their acts for the fight.

will.i.am has cheated slightly by inviting along two guests - last year's contestant Leah McFall, who recently debuted the video for 'No Ordinary Love', as well as Voice stalwart Dante Santiago.

The Team Will acts that will be going head to head this weekend are Anna McLuckie and Jessica Steele, Callum Crowley and Tom Barnwell, and Sarah Eden-Winn and Jermain Jackman.

Sir Tom Jones has made the perhaps surprising decision to invite Tinie Tempah along to meet his acts, but the pair seem to be deep in conversation in this picture.

The 10 Most Underrated Songs By Gay Superstars
We’ve been thinking a lot about gay musicians this week (including our man Steve Grand), and it’s time we stood up for some of the forgotten or lesser-known tracks in their vast catalogs. Here are the ten most underrated tracks from ten gay musical superstars

10. Will Young, “Switch It On”

For a democratically appointed star, Will Young is one cheeky bastard. The UK Pop Idol champ churned out this Top Gun-themed homoerotic video in 2006, and it will make you fall in love (and lust) with him. Look at him checking out the danger zones on those other boys!

9. RuPaul, “Jealous of My Boogie”

'Filth' Trailer: James McAvoy Is a Seriously Dirty Cop
We've seen James McAvoy in plenty of different cinematic situations, from a doomed suitor in "Atonement" to a futuristic assassin in "Wanted," but his turn in "Filth" as a totally twisted Scottish copper is definitely something new.

As bigoted Bruce Robertson, McAvoy does drugs galore, beats people up, photocopies his naughty bits, gets up to all sorts of illicit shenanigans, and is generally a menace to the society he's supposed to protect. He's also investigating a murder and hoping for a promotion, as you do, in between struggling with his manic depression and many, many vices. Plus, he's abusive towards women and has a tapeworm. Bruce is, shall we say, an antihero.

The rest of the cast is rather impressive, as well: Jim Broadbent plays Bruce's doctor; Imogen Poots, his concerned co-worker; Jamie Bell, another cop; and Eddie Marsan, Bruce's nerdy friend. (Marsan has played rather disturbing characters in movies like "Happy-Go-Lucky" and "Tyrannosaur,...

Queens of the Stone Age Release A 15 Minute Video Set To New Songs
There’s an easy cool to Josh Homme and the music he writes with his band Queens of the Stone Age. Like Marlon Brando in The Wild One when asked “what are you rebelling against” - “Whadda you got?” – the music of Qotsa just drips with sweat, gasoline, attitude, and … well… coolness. Their new album …Like Clockwork will be released on June 4, but don’t let the title fool you. Apparently the new album didn’t go as planned and wasn’t such an easy journey. Then again, I don’t think Brando knew what he was getting himself into when he stopped into that small town bar in The Wild One. For what it’s worth, the new album is now completed and features a number of guest stars including Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner, Dave Grohl, Elton John, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor, and Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters.

‘Filth’ starring James McAvoy and Jamie Bell – red band trailer review
Filth

Directed by: Jon S. Baird

Starring: James McAvoy, Jamie Bell, Jim Broadbent

Rating: Not Yet Rated

Release Date: Tba

Trailer Score: 7/10

Thoughts by Tsr: I would not be entirely surprised if Jon S. Baird’s Filth (based on a novel by Irvine Welsh, the writer of “Trainspotting”) ended up being a relatively poor film. That being said, I had a smile on my face and chuckled a number of times during the trailer. So, if nothing else, it certainly looks like it should be entertaining. When I glanced at the plot description it made it sound like it would be a very dark and dreary story of a bad cop doing bad things. I guess I missed the part where it’s a comedy, and the lengths this trailer goes to show how morally corrupt Bruce Robertson is has a certain – forgive me – filthy charm.

A lot of that...

Cher Returns After 12-Year Break
Cher
Good news for Cher fans: the enduring singer is back with a new album.

Cher released her last studio album of new material, "Living Proof," in 2001. Now, Cher is returning with a "f--king amazing" new album. Originally hyped for a March release, Cher now says that her new music will hit stores in September. The album is rumored to include collaborations with P!nk, Lady Gaga, and Christina Aguilera. The 66-year-old Cher worked with Aguilera on her most recent musical project: the soundtrack to 2010's "Burlesque," which the duo starred in.

Cher has been tweeting about the progress of her album, alerting fans this week that she was working on the last song, before announcing that the project was completed on Sunday. The Goddess of Pop gave an early listen to Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears, who contributed to the album.

Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Josh Duhamel, and 50 Cent in Fire with Fire - Vengeance par le feu (2012)
Fire With Fire Movie Review
Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Josh Duhamel, and 50 Cent in Fire with Fire - Vengeance par le feu (2012)
Title: Fire With Fire Director: David Barrett Starring: Josh Duhamel, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio, 50 Cent, Julian McMahon, Vinnie Jones. ‘Fire with Fire,’ besides being the first single taken from American pop band Scissor Sisters’ third album, ‘Night Work,’ marks David Barrett’s attempt to switch from directing Television series to movies. The story is very banal and boring: a fireman takes an unexpected course of action when a man whom he’s been ordered to testify against, after being held up at a local convenience store, threatens him. Many stars feature in the dull action revenge flick, Bruce Willis, Josh Duhamel, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio and Julian McMahon. 50 Cent’s [ Read More ]

Unintentionally Disturbing Movies for the Whole Family!
Last weekend the wall-eyed animated nightmare The Croods was an unexpected slam-dunk at the box office. Like many of you, we were sent into fits of existential panic over the lumpy, prehistoric countenances of the film's jug-faced-yet-allegedly-lovable lead characters, and probably won't be checking out the film anytime soon. After all, we already have plenty of other kid-targeted flicks to pepper our dreams with flashes of unintended terror. Here are a few of the most scarring examples.

(Note - we're focusing here on kids' movies that are way creepier than they probably intended to be, so classic kid-scarring genre flicks like The Dark Crystal, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Watcher in the Woods, etc. are off the table.)

The Peanut Butter Solution

I remember seeing this bizarre Canadian family film in the theatre when it came out in 1985, and I still have an irrational fear of homeless ghosts, paintbrushes made of human hair,...

Amazing Parody Video Shows The Papal Conclave Having A Kiki To Choose New Pope
Jake Shears, Ana Matronic, Scissor Sisters, Babydaddy, and Del Marquis
Everybody wants to have a kiki, even the pope, according to an amazing parody video that "exposes" what really goes on in that super serious, super secret papal conclave.

The YouTube video, posted by the fictional Mrs. Betty Bowers (America's Best Christian!) includes a special memo to the Catholic leaders who will soon be picking a new pope:

"It's time to lock the doors, lower the blinds, fire up the smoke machine -- and pick a pope, girls!'

The video is playing off the sensational "Let's Have A Kiki" music video released in July by the band the Scissor Sisters.

A "kiki," according to the song, is "a party, for calming all your nerves" and the term is popular in queer social circles.

Mrs. Betty Bowers does add a little bite to her satirical version, as the cardinals can be seen choosing between "the sexist," "the homophobe" and "the pedophile.

Meme: Ezra Miller Was Gay Bashed, Jonathan Groff Headed To HBO, and Neil deGrasse Tyson Weighs In On Thor's Hammer
Ezra Miller says that he's been gay bashed twice. The first was quite severe, resulting in retinal tears, but the second, when he was walking with his mother, he makes sound almost comical. "He went pussy. And I was like, that guy just spat out the most non-sensical of masculine, gay-bashing skewers. He didn't even know what angle to take. He tried the mother angle, he tried the pussy angle, the what-is-with-this-jacket angle. The first guy was a more self-assured, confident gay-basher. That second guy needed to sober up, figure out his hate crime a little more."

Brian Sims, the first out captain of an Ncaa football team says that his teammates brought him out of the closet, and in a good way. "The truth is I was gay my whole life. I had dated girls in high school. I think I knew I wasn't straight long before I knew I was gay.

Elton John guesting on new Queens Of The Stone Age album, because why not
Elton John
Dave Grohl not only wielded his fame for good for doc "Sound City," but he has also been able to wrangle more music stars for his "Chelsea Lately" takeover this week, last night's guest Elton John included. The "Rocket Man" singer sat down with the Foo Fighters frontman to confirm something nobody expected: that he would be featured on the forthcoming Queens of the Stoneage album. "Recently Elton and I recorded something together, something people wouldn’t imagine the two of us doing together," Grohl started. Imagination... yes. That's what this takes. Grohl, Trent Reznor, the Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, Mark Lanegan and...

Elton John Announces Queens Of The Stone Age Cameo With Dave Grohl On 'Chelsea Lately'
Elton John and Chelsea Lately guest host Dave Grohl announced during last night's interview that the piano-playing pop legend will appear on the preposterous feature-packed new Queens Of The Stone Age Album, joining (inhale) Grohl, Trent Reznor, former Qotsa bassist Nick Oliveri and Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears (see below).

Previously… So Is Anyone Not Appearing On The New Queens Of The Stone Age Album?

"I love that band so much," gushed Elton. "Nobody really asks me to do stuff really, they think I will say no… It was really a great track."

Elton, you should've brought Engelbert Humperdinck along with you! Now that would've been a record…

Any bets re: who else could possibly be appearing on the new Queens Of The Stone Age record... which, needless to say is by far the most aniticpated hard rock record of the year, right? Let me know in the comments below.

5 Awesome Current Artists Who Need Grammy Awards
The Grammys are this Sunday, which is exciting for award show fans and depressing for people who think those awards should go to the right people. Sigh. Here are five current artists still in need of official Grammy love.

5. Scissor Sisters

(source)

Since the Scissor Sisters emerged a decade ago, their style has remained as quirky and danceable as anything Lady Gaga's ever produced, yet the Grammys haven't been as keen to reward the ragtag group with their due props. They've only been nominated once in the Best Dance Recording category, where the group's take on "Comfortably Numb" lost to Britney Spears' sole moment of brilliance, "Toxic." Where's the love for "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'"? Or this year's wickedly saucy "Let's Have a Kiki"?

4. Adam Lambert

(source)

Get this: Zero male American Idol contestants have a Grammy to their name. Nope, not even Kevin Covais. Adam Lambert...

Frank Ocean says that he forgives Chris Brown for their fight, and won't be pressing charges, ending my hopes of getting that monster off the street and out of the news.

Celebrating 30 Rock's running gags
Feature Louisa Mellor Feb 1, 2013

As we bid the fondest of goodbyes to 30 Rock, we remember the running gags that made it great…

As 30 Rock drew its final breath last night, yards of column inches are currently being devoted - and deservedly so - to praising the work of creator Tina Fey. Article upon article is applauding Fey’s writing, characters, cast, and seven seasons of energetic, inventive, satirical comedy.

As the heavy-lifting is being handled elsewhere then, we’ve decided to go micro and salute the peripheral moments that made 30 Rock so much fun. As the show makes its way up to the big TV studio in the sky, let’s celebrate its running gags, from the fake movies, to the awful songs, Frank’s hats, and the godawful Tgs sketches…

The fake movies

The presence of Tracy Jordan (a bonafide Martin Lawrence meets the Wayans Brothers-style movie star) in...

Jake Shears and Ana Matronic

photos credit: Clinton Gaughran

After four albums, countless, shows, appearances and collaborations, the hardest working band in the business, Scissor Sisters is finally is taking a well-earned break from touring. They'd planned on playing in Mexico City and Guadalajara in December, but those dates got canceled. Thus, the band's last gig of 2012 turned out to be an exclusive appearance on Crackle’s live music web series “From The Basement." The set, which was was filmed at the Jim Henson Studio in Hollywood back on November 18th, will be available for viewing tomorrow.

Our friend Nicole Hanratty of the website lifeofarockstar.com got an invite to sit in on the closed set recording session and afterwards sat down with the adorable Jake Shears and sublimely sassy Ana Matronic for a wide-ranging interview. We've got some photos for you as well a video excerpt from that interview.

Morning Meme: An Extra Got Handsy With Matthew McConaughey On "Magic Mike," "Glee" Gets Naked, Dave Franco Gets Bossy In "Warm Bodies"
In a series of spoilers about Glee, TV Line mentions the "Naked" episode (to air January 31). “Naked,” focuses on the guys as they get involved in 'a little fundraiser fun for the glee club,' Tobin teased. 'It’s very much about the boys getting buff and tanned and bronzed…. Chord [Overstreet, as Sam] really spearheads the ‘beefcake’ number, and it’s pretty hilarious.'"

The Marines have issued a directive to all bases that social clubs, like spouses clubs, that use military facilities must allow spouses of same-sex couples to join. The Marines are requiring it under rules that prohibit gender discrimination, since the gender of the spouse is what's at question. This follows a case when a same-sex spouse was denied membership in the military spouses group at Ft. Bragg. The Pentagon is yet to issue rules that apply to all services, so kudos to the Marines for stepping out smartly.

Azealia Banks apologises but 'really not moved by this f word thing'
Perez Hilton at an event for American Trip (2010)
Azealia Banks has said that she is "really not as moved" as people expect her to be over her use of the word "f*ggot". The rapper directed the slur at gossip columnist Perez Hilton and was later condemned by Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). In a burst of messages after the initial tweets, Banks defended her use of the word, while also apologising to those "indirectly offended" by it. "My most sincere apologies to anyone who was indirectly offended by my foul language. Not sorry for Perez tho. Lol," she said. She added: "Unpleasant meddling woman = bitch, unpleasant meddling man = Perez Hilton. "Really not as moved by this f word thing as u all (more)...

Scissor Sisters band member Jake Shears has commented on Azealia Banks's recent Twitter tirade against Perez Hilton. Banks aimed a homophobic slur at Hilton after he criticized her feud with rapper Angel Haze, calling him a "f*ggot". The '212' rapper later defended her use of the word, explaining: "A f*ggot is not a homosexual male. A f*ggot is any male who acts like a female. There's a Big difference." Morning Meme: "S.H.I.E.L.D." Is More Whedon Than Marvel, the Gayest Songs of 2012, and Let Neil Patrick Harris Help You With Those Balls
Happy New Year! I hope you had fun and stayed safe. I've got a nasty bug, so I stayed home and rested with Anderson and Kathy. But snicks is at full power, and will be bringing you a liveblog of the New Year's resolutions for WilSon on Days of Our Lives.

At the time of this writing, despite passing the Senate 89-8 with a bill no one is happy with, it looks like House Republicans are willing to drive the world economy off a cliff rather than allow a vote on the bill the Senate and the White House agreed to. At this point I'm almost willing to let China repossess the country just to end this farce. Edit: They passed it, barely.

While a $2,000/year tax hike might hurt my spending, even the bigger bump that's proposed for the wealthy elite isn't likely to hamper their lifestyles. So which...
