Chris Lightbody was born in San Jose, CA where he developed his passion for both music and filmmaking at Lincoln High, a performing arts magnet school. He received his BA in film production from UC San Diego and his MFA in Writing for Film and Television from USC.
He was an established television producer and writer before creating the music and film production company District 78 with partners Robert J. Steinmiller, Jr. and Spencer Yaras. Together they have credits ranging from competition shows such as Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance to films such as Step Up 3D and the musical remake of Mean Girls.
In 2023, he co-wrote and produced the festival award-winning feature mockumentary Bootyology.
He currently lives in Los Angeles, CA.
