Logan Paul's The Thinning: New World Order Gets Surprise Drop on Youtube
Logan Paul
Love him or hate him, the polarizing force known as Logan Paul is back with his all-new sequel The Thinning: New World Order. While some fans have been waiting anxiously to enjoy the follow-up to Paul's 2016 smash hit The Thinning, others can't wait to bash it with a sledgehammer, jumping on their own Youtube channels to give the movie a wide eyed reaction in explaining how awful these movies are.

Youtube dropped The Thinning: New World Order out of the blue yesterday, which comes as the anticipated sequel to the 2016 dystopian-thriller starring Logan Paul and Peyton List. It is now available to stream on YouTube Premium in full.

In The Thinning: New World Order, Laina Michaels (List) becomes a target of Governor Dean Redding's Machiavellian presidential campaign after risking her life to expose the corruption of the thinning test, an aptitude exam administered to students in an attempt to control over-population in a dying world.

Logan Paul’s ‘The Thinning’ Hits YouTube as Insider Cites ‘Good Standing’
YouTube has taken another step toward reinstalling online internet star Logan Paul since he posted video of a suicide victim, for which he was widely criticized. After being on hold for 10 months, “The Thinning: New World Order,” which stars Paul, is now streaming on YouTube’s subscription-based video on-demand service (Svod).

YouTube delayed the release of the film back in January when Paul came under fire for filming and then posting to YouTube a video of a suicide victim. The YouTube sensation filmed video of a deceased body while walking through Aokigahara forest in Japan, a location that has come to be known as the “Suicide Forest” due to the high number of people who go to the forest to take their own lives.

Long-Shelved Logan Paul Movie Sequel Launches Today On YouTube Premium
Logan Paul
Updated throughout The Thinning: New World Order, starring Logan Paul, is now available to stream on YouTube Premium, producers have announced.

Legendary Digital Studios, YouTube Premium and Entertainment One (eOne) announced a “surprise drop” of the sequel to the 2016 thriller, though any surprise was spoiled last night by Paul, who posted a trailer on his YouTube channel.

The YouTube Original movie starring the controversial Paul arrives after a nearly year-long punitive shelving. The Thinning: New World Order, a sequel to the The Thinning, launched today on YouTube Premium after a literally winking Paul posted the trailer and a message to his 18.6 million subscribers last night.

YouTube had shelved the sequel in January after Paul stirred up a global controversy by uploading a video of a dead man hanging from a tree in Japan’s Aokigahara forest, the so-called suicide forest. Paul was removed from YouTube’s Google Preferred lineup, and...

Legendary Is Developing an Adaptation of the Video Game Life Is Strange
Legendary Digital Studios and Square Enix have teamed up to adapt the hit video game Life Is Strange as a digital series. The game is an episodic, the story of which follows a photography enthusiast named Max Caulfield, “a high-school senior who discovers she can rewind time while saving her best friend Chloe Price. The pair soon find themselves investigating the mysterious disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber, which uncovers a dark side to life in their town, Arcadia Bay.”

The project is being developed and produced by Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of dj2 Entertainment. They previously worked on an animated series called Skulls of the Shogun for Legendary-owned Nerdist Industries, as well as the upcoming film adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog for Sony Pictures.

Greg Siegel, senior vp of development and production for Legendary Digital Studios had this to say in a statement:

“Life is Strange really differs...

Live-Action Life Is Strange TV Series In The Works At Legendary
Arcadia Bay is headed to the small-screen.

Days after we learned of a live-action Detective Pikachu movie setting up shop at the studio – buoyed by the landmark success of Pokemon Go – The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Legendary is partnering with Square Enix to bring about a Life is Strange TV series.

Said to hew close to Dontnod’s hit five-part series, which followed the curious mind of Max Caulfield and her eerie ability to manipulate time, it’s understood Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of dj2 Entertainment will nurture the adaptation.

First released in January of last year, Life is Strange is a nostalgic, heartfelt tale of two best friends caught up in a dark mystery that threatens to bring ruination to the sun-kissed plains of Arcadia Bay. Its success was recognized in critical circles, too, with Dontnod’s adventure title scoring multiple Game of the Year nominations, not to...

Life Is Strange Video Game Getting The Hollywood Treatment From Legendary
Well done, Hollywood. It seems like the studio bigwigs are getting better and better at choosing the specific properties they decide to take to the big screen. While there's no doubt that a game's popularity plays a big factor in choosing what to adapt to a feature film, what can't be ignored is how fitting the material is for the film medium. Warcraft was perhaps the latest example of a studio not necessarily picking the best type of video game for a movie, while Assassin's Creed is an example of the opposite.

Now, THR is reporting that Legendary and video game developer Square Enix are joining forces to bring the video game Life Is Strange to the big screen. The project will also be developed and produced in conjunction with Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of dj2 Entertainment. The latter man is currently responsible for adapting Sonic The Hedgehog to...

Logan Paul, Peyton List To Star In Feature Film From Legendary Digital Media
The next two personalities jumping from social media to the big screen are Logan Paul and Peyton List. Paul, known for his videos on Vine, and List, a Disney Channel actress who has 1.5 million Twitter followers, will star in The Thinning, a dystopian thriller that has been acquired by the digital wing of film studio Legendary.

For The Thinning, Legendary is working with the team from TotallySketch, which won the studio’s House of Horrors contest thanks to its short film “Unfinished Business.” TotallySketch founder Michael Gallagher will direct The Thinning, he will write it alongside Steve Greene, and Jana Winternitz will be one of the film’s producing partners.

This time, instead on focusing on a horror story, Gallagher and his team are heading to a “dying world,” where a post-high school aptitude test serves as a means of population control. Paul and List will portray two student who...

It’s the latest big movie for Legendary, which in December bolstered its TV roster with its first acquisition, nabbing indie producer Asylum Entertainment for north of $100 million by outbidding rivals in the midst of Legendary’s first development season, when it set up several projects. The plan is for Asylum to serve as a production label for non-scripted, long-form, sports and other genres.

"Prototype" Contest Searching for Next Great Filmmaker
Have you ever wanted to see your own idea made into a feature film? If so, New Regency Productions and Break Media's new contest called "Prototype" may be for you. Check out the details here.

Over the last couple decades it has appeared that the film industry has become increasingly profitable and movies seem to be making more and more money. While this is good for the long-term staying power of the industry, it raises some serious questions about what lengths these production companies are willing to take to maintain their momentum. Steven Spielberg and George Lucas recently went as far as saying that they predict the face of the film industry to change dramatically in the near future. In order to keep making money, production companies will need to keep investing in large, universally appealing projects (blockbusters) rather than small, personal niche films. Those big projects are less...

Break’s ‘Armed Response’ Brings First-Person Shooter Action To SXSW
We profiled a number of notable goings-on at this year's SXSW, but at least one deserves special note. Break Media, which runs top YouTube channels such as Break and Screen Junkies, will debut Armed Response at the festival, with a panel featuring the series' creators and distributors accompanying the release. Armed Response is a somewhat bare bones action thriller, stripped of pretension: Bad guys there, good guys here, let's take 'em out. If the trailer is any indication, it will be very violent, extra bloody, and plenty loud. The series makes liberal use of first-person and split screen cameras, because when you don't use an actual video game as your source material, the surest way to ensure the young men on YouTube will watch your show is by making it seem like it's a video game. Armed Response will screen for the first time at SXSW, and series creators Tom Bannister...

Dinosaurs Getting Ready to Attack Los Angeles
Sometimes news comes that has us grinning from ear-to-ear. This is exactly one of those times. The mere thought of dinosaurs tearing up L.A. is truly enough to warrant a wet dream. Maybe even two wet dreams. No, really. Here's hoping they start by taking a shit on the 101.

Break Media Courts Hollywood, Inks Reveille Deal
Break Media is one of online video’s growing powerhouses, now reaching over 140 million people a month through its network of sites firmly footed in the psyche of young male webizens. It may be easy to quickly cast Break in the corner of fail videos and puppy freakouts, still core canon over at its flagship Break.com. But the business of Break Media is growing up, recognizing the incresing demand for premium content from the advertsising world still squeamish to commit TV-level dollars into online video projects. Slowly, Break is shifting to adapt and cozing up to the Hollywood production establishment that knows a thing or two about producing premium. And the company itself has bloomed to a headcount now over 200 employees, most based in Los Angeles where several video-heavy content startups (or once-startups) like Hulu, Maker Studios, Machinima and Mahalo call home. The first move was to hire former...
