As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, Aziz Ansari opened up about the surreal, hilarious, and often eye‑opening journey of making Good Fortune, his directorial debut starring Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, and Sandra Oh. Alongside our chat with the delightful Ansari, we're thrilled to present an exclusive image of Reeves and Oh. Yes, he is an angel in the image, but he's not playing himself; he's playing Gabriel. Sorry for the confusion, folks, it's easy to get mixed up when you consider how wonderful the man is — and that's something Ansari never took for granted. He told Collider:
“What a dream cast, right? I remember the first scene we filmed with Keanu and Seth eating burgers – it was the first time Keanu’s angel character had ever had food. And it felt iconic seeing those two in a diner booth. They’re such stars, and it...

Ahead of its premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival in September, Lionsgate has debut the full-length official trailer for Aziz Ansari's upcoming feature directorial debut Good Fortune.
The film follows a well-meaning but rather inept angel named Gabriel (Keanu Reeves), who meddles in the lives of a struggling gig worker named Arj (Aziz Ansari) and a wealthy venture capitalist named Jeff (Seth Rogen). In an effort to show Arj that the life of wealth isn't all that it's cracked up to be, he swaps Arj's life with Jeff's and, as expected, chaos ensues as everything begins to unravel around them.
The film stars Keanu Reeves (John Wick; The Matrix), Seth Rogen (Superbad; This Is the End), Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation; Master of None), Keke Palmer (Nope; Hustlers), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve; Grey’s Anatomy), Sherry Cola (Joy Ride; Good Trouble), and Stephen McKinley Henderson (Dune; Fences).

Good Fortune is an upcoming comedy movie written and directed by Aziz Ansari, starring himself, Keanu Reeves, and Seth Rogen in the lead roles. A trailer for it was recently dropped online, revealing a completely ingenious premise that sees Reeves’ budget guardian angel at the center of it all.
Despite some online criticism regarding the movie’s premise being roughly a decade too old, Good Fortune seems exactly the extravagant comedy that the genre needs to pull audiences into theaters. Moreover, Reeves’ angel character might just be the show stealer, and here is why Good Fortune‘s premise has me excited.

As horrifying as it would be in real life, body-swapping films are some of the most hilarious productions. At some point, everyone has imagined what their lives would be like if they switched places with someone more fortunate, especially when they're struggling. From Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan's Freaky Friday to Regina Hall and Marsai Martin's Little, waking up in someone else's body would be haunting, but watching it on screen is pure comedy. The latest swap film comes from Aziz Ansari, who also stars in the movie and wrote, produced, and directed it. Good Fortune is the name, and Keanu Reeves is the angel sent to teach a lesson to Ansari's character Arj that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, as he switches bodies with Seth Rogen's Jeff.

My name is Gabriel. I’m an angel. I’m here to save you. With the wings to prove it, Keanu Reeves is setting out to rescue Aziz Ansari, if he can actually pull it off. Dropping today is the trailer for Good Fortune courtesy of Lionsgate.
In the trailer, we meet Reeves’ angel, who learns that Ansari’s Arj, who has lost his job and is sleeping in his car despite his best efforts. And while this guardian angel doesn’t normally dabble in such affairs, he’s taking a risk. Part of his goal is to show him that the people he works for – chiefly a millionaire named Jeff (Seth Rogen) that that sort of life isn’t as whole as it appears to be. And so he swaps their lives and bodies…only to find out that Arj is an awful lot happier, unwilling to swap back...

The advent of fall festival season is officially upon us, with Venice and Toronto unveiling their initial lineups as the industry begins looking ahead to the next awards race. One highlight of the TIFF lineup was Aziz Ansari’s “Good Fortune,” which will be premiering in Toronto before Lionsgate releases it in theaters this October. And with a cast that includes Ansari, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, and Keanu Reeves (who plays a guardian angel), it could very well become one of the breakout hits of the fall.
Per an official synopsis, the film follows Arj (Ansari), a financially struggling gig economy worker who crosses paths with a tech giant (Rogen) during one of the lowest points in his life. The encounter is overseen by a rather inept angel named Gabriel (Reeves) who grants Arj the opportunity of a lifetime to swap places with his wealthy counterpart to see if the...

This October, we will see a different side of Keanu Reeves. We've witnessed him save a dystopian world in The Matrix quadrilogy, use his gun-fu skills to get through hordes of killers in John Wick... and now we'll see him as a human-saving holy entity. In Good Fortune, Gabriel (Reeves) is a guardian angel who doesn't have much relevance among his saint peers. The new trailer delves deeper into his story, and you can check it out in this article. The comedy movie premieres on October 17.
While the first trailer for Good Fortune was all about Arj (Aziz Ansari) and his struggles, the new trailer allows us to learn about Gabriel's motivations and state of mind during the story. After being responsible for mostly keeping people who text and drive from getting into accidents, Gabriel asks for more responsibility. He is then tasked with assisting Arj, a guy who is...

Though Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital has seen its fair share of shocks and surprises, including character returns, there’s one fan-favorite physician that isn’t likely to grace the ABC medical procedural again.
During a recent Tribeca Film Festival live event with The New York Times‘ Interview, the Emmy-winning Sandra Oh spoke with co-host Lulu Garcia-Navarro (per People) about whether or not she would return as Dr. Cristina Yang.

Jerrod Carmichael says he is on a quest for connection. So when he recently got on the phone to discuss his latest comedy special, it wasn’t a shock that he was initially more keen to talk about the kind hotel staffer who baked him cookies during his 2017 Transformers shoot than promote the new hour. Don’t Be Gay, his latest stand-up special for HBO, follows 2024’s experimental Reality Show and 2022’s groundbreaking Rothaniel in the comic’s very public journey with his sexuality. And while his frank conversations about sex is still too much for some of his audience, it’s not stopping him from prioritizing vulnerability in his work.

Don’t Be Gay is almost disarmingly frank about sex. What made you want to go there with your first hour since Rothaniel?

Directed by Karan Sharma and produced by Dinesh Vijan (“Stree” Universe), “Bhool Chuk Maaf” attempts a genre mashup with a big dollop of social commentary. However, despite a palatable turn by its eclectically assembled, talented cast, the Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi-starrer time-loop comedy gets stuck in its repetitive structure, too contrived to gloss over its follies. The social commentary on employment does not flow like a coherent undertone; it pops up suddenly like an acrimonious and unwelcome pustule.
The only way the film works is if you have a hankering for Benaras Ghats. The film’s story revolves around a central character who is stuck in a time loop. Let us see how he gets into it and how he gets out.
Bhool Chuk Maaf (2025) Plot Summary and Movie Synopsis:
Ranjan (Rajkummar Rao) and Titli (Wamiqa Gabbi) love each other. All they want is to marry and start their life together.

Russell Simmons has sued HBO and the filmmakers who made the Max original documentary “On the Record,” which examines the sexual assault allegations against the hip-hop and business mogul.
The lawsuit, which demands $20 million in damages and has been obtained by TheWrap, claims the doc defamed him and disregarded evidence he and his legal team presented to the entertainment company — proof he said supports his side of the alleged incidents. The film from Amy Ziering and Kirby Dick premiered on HBO’s streaming platform in 2020.
On Tuesday, Simmons’ lawyer, Imran Ansari, filed a four-page summons in New York’s Supreme Court. In the document, Ansari wrote that Ziering and Dick “disregard and/or suppressed” details of the alleged incidents. His team stated that these details were offered to then-WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey and chairman/CEO of HBO and Max Content Casey Bloys, as well as the company’s board members.

Update: A lot of time has passed since Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering’s documentary expose of Russell Simmons and allegations of sexual assault by the famed music executive aired on HBO Max, over five years.
Today, with court filings certain to follow, it didn’t take Warner Bros Discovery that long at all to respond to Simmons’ $20 million defamation suit against On the Record – and give no quarter.
“We dispute Mr. Simmons’ allegations, stand by the filmmakers and their process, and will vigorously defend ourselves against these unfounded allegations, a Wbd spokesperson told Deadline this morning, as a new round of layoffs hit the company’s cable TV units.
Maybe the Bali-residing Simmons will even show up in court to press his own case vigorously against that vigorous defense.

Warner Bros. Discovery has been sued by Russell Simmons, who alleges that the filmmakers behind On the Record defamed him by turning a blind eye to evidence disputing accusations that he sexually assaulted women in his orbit.

Keanu Reeves plays an angel sent to Earth in this upcoming comedy in Good Fortune, from Aziz Ansari. Here’s the first trailer.
Lionsgate has revealed the first trailer for Good Fortune, the upcoming Aziz Ansari comedy that brings a promising cast together with a fun premise for the actor’s long overdue directorial debut. The Parks & Recreation star has been slated to direct his first film for some time, beginning production on a feature back in 2022 that was ultimately scrapped.
Here’s a quick reminder: back in 2022, Ansari was in the midst of production on Being Mortal, a comedy movie he was directing for Searchlight Pictures. During production, an accusation was made about Bill Murray’s on-set conduct which ended up shutting the entire production down permanently.
While Searchlight indicated that it intended to work with Ansari again, it was Lionsgate that ultimately offered him his second chance to make a first impression.

Nobody will be shocked if Keanu Reeves announced that he was all set to be a part of an all-out action blockbuster movie. But the news that the John Wick star is returning to the big screen as a guardian angel is all set to attract a lot of eyes.
The news that Aziz Ansari would be making his directorial debut was out in the open by 2023. Seth and Keanu had joined his side by then. And it looks like they have quite the role to play in the comedy drama.

John Wick Star Keanu Reeves Is A Disillusioned Angel In First Trailer For Aziz Ansari's Good Fortune
Though Keanu Reeves has tried his hand at more comedic and light-hearted fare over the years, the actor has established himself as a bona fide action star thanks to leading roles in the likes of The Matrix, Speed, and, of course, the John Wick franchise. So, his next project can definitely be viewed as an intriguing change of pace.
In Good Fortune, Reeves plays a well-intentioned but underqualified "budget guardian angel" named Gabriel, who asks his boss Martha (Sandra Oh) to give him more "meaningful duties" (we later learn that he's in charge of keeping people who text when they drive out of danger).
Martha tells him that in order to save a lost soul, he needs to find a lost soul, which is where Aziz Ansari's Arj comes in.

Keanu Reeves is a literal angel in the Good Fortune teaser
The feature directorial debut from Aziz Ansari has finally been revealed, and it looks heavenly. Seemingly a riff on Wings of Desire, Good Fortune follows an angel Gabriel (played by a winged Keanu Reeves), who is looking for more meaning in his work. He finds Arj, played by Ansari, who is a lost soul, peeing in bottles while working for a thinly veiled Amazon-like company. The film, which also stars Seth Rogen, Sandra Oh, and Keke Palmer, hits theaters on Oct. 17.

Keanu Reeves has mostly committed himself to voice acting work in recent years, with his last major onscreen role being in 2023's John Wick: Chapter 4. Fans that have been desperately waiting to see the beloved actor back on the big screen have now had their prayers answered courtesy of Lionsgate's first trailer for Aziz Ansari's feature directorial debut, Good Fortune. Reeves stars in the quirky comedy as an inept angel named Gabriel alongside a heavenly ensemble that includes Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, and Sandra Oh.

That Keanu Reeves is something of an angel is no secret. Sure, he might've killed a few hundred baddies in John Wick, unleashed his dark side as spiny speedster Shadow in Sonic The Hedgehog 3, and starred in The Lake House, but the Canadian actor-musician-comic-book-writer is, by all accounts, a divine being in human form. Handy then, as in Master Of None creator Aziz Ansari's upcoming comedy Good Fortune, Reeves plays a literal angel, Gabriel, who comes to Earth and finds himself meddling in the lives of gig worker Arj (Ansari) and venture capitalist Jeff (Seth Rogen). If the first trailer for the movie is anything to go by, then whether Gabriel's divine intervention is more of a blessing than a curse remains to be seen — check it out below;

Keanu Reeves wants to see people’s dreams take flight in the teaser trailer for Aziz Ansari’s comedy movie Good Fortune.
Lionsgate releases writer-director Ansari’s feature in theaters Oct. 17. Ansari co-stars in the film alongside fellow castmembers Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer and Sandra Oh.
Good Fortune centers on Garbriel (Reeves), a well-intentioned guardian angel who targets gig worker Arj (Ansari) as someone on Earth in need of assistance. However, things go awry when Gabriel concocts a plan to have Arj swap places with wealthy venture capitalist Jeff (Rogen).
“Is there any way I can have more meaningful duties?” Reeves asks in the trailer. “I want to guide people. I want to change their lives.” Oh responds, “To save a lost soul, you have to find a lost soul.”

Aziz Ansari finally has fortune on his side: The writer/director’s long-awaited “Good Fortune” is almost here after strike delays. “Good Fortune” stars Keanu Reeves as Seth Rogen’s guardian angel, with Ansari also co-starring in addition to helming the feature.
“Good Fortune” was first announced in April 2023; the project is being billed as Ansari’s directorial debut after his “Being Mortal” production fell in limbo as of April 2022 amid actor Bill Murray’s sexual misconduct allegations on the set of the Searchlight Pictures film. (Murray later claimed the investigation stemmed from a miscommunication.) Rogen was also attached to star in “Being Mortal,” in addition to leading “Good Fortune.” Of course, with “The Studio” Season 2 already in the works, who knows if Rogen will still have time to be “Mortal” as well.

If cinema is a place to have a good time, then writer-director Karan Sharma’s Bhool Chuk Maaf is just the place where you ought to be seen this weekend. It is fun and funny. Feisty and ritzy.
And yes, you would never want to see the colour yellow again.
Though Bhool Chuk Maaf is about the time loop, it never gets monotonous. Sharma makes the same situation look different each time.
Of course, Rajkummar Rao’s comic timing helps vitally. Rao is a riot as a wastrel with a whiny girlfriend trapped in a time warp.
This is an idea never tried before, and the writer-director has huge fun with the material. Karan Sharma ensures that the theme of a time warp remains far removed from the realms of science fiction.
The spiffy screenplay is fastened to mythological concepts of guilt and moksha. Luckily, the film doesn’t get embroiled in the discursive dynamics.

Pop quiz, Hot Shot! Where would a new movie starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock rank in a long list of in-demand Hollywood reunions? Before you answer, remember the duo’s outstanding chemistry in the Jan de Bont-directed action thriller Speed. If that’s not enough, think about their enchanting romantic drama The Lake House. You see what I’m getting at. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock will reunite for an untitled romantic thriller at Amazon MGM Studios.

Being Mortal was set to be Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut. And backed with a cast that included himself, Bill Murray, Seth Rogen, and Keke Palmer, along with Ansari’s own skills he honed with his show Master of None, the movie was one that was on the radar. But it all fell apart after Murray was accused of committing what was described as “inappropriate behavior” on the set.
Three years after production halted on Being Mortal, Bill Murray says he’s still haunted by the movie being shut down halfway through, further explaining the circumstances of the moment that caused it all. “I don’t go too many days or weeks without thinking of what happened on Being Mortal…I thought I was trying to make peace, I ended up, in my mind, being barbecued. Someone that I worked with, had lunch with on various days of the week and so forth.

Harvey Weinstein has been transferred from Rikers Island to a New York City hospital after a judge approved his request to remain there during his retrial on sex crime charges.

Goetz’s order will remain in effect until next Thursday, with a hearing scheduled to further discuss the matter, AP reported.

With jury selection underway in Harvey Weinstein’s New York retrial, his lawyers pleaded Wednesday with the judge to allow the disgraced movie mogul to spend his nights at Bellvue Hospital instead of Rikers Island, arguing that the stress and rigors of daily court appearances will derail his failing health.
Their urgent appeal came on the second day of jury selection, arguing that conditions in the notorious city jail are worsening Weinstein’s growing list of dire health issues. Weinstein attorney Imran Ansari’s Tuesday night filing added a tongue infection and 20-pound weight gain to the roll of serious failings her client is dealing with, including chronic myeloid leukemia, heart issues, diabetes, sleep apnea, sciatica and walking ability limitations.
For months, Weinstein’s attorneys have been reporting these issues to the judge as new problems have prompted several short- and longer-term visits to Bellevue, including heart surgery.

While speaking with The New York Times about his new movie, “The Friend,” Murray discussed the fact that he and his character in the film, Walter, have both been accused of “inappropriate misconduct.” When asked if he still thinks about his “Being Mortal” incident, Murray said, “I don’t go too many days or weeks without thinking of what happened.”
“It was Covid, we were all wearing masks and we were all stranded in this one room listening to this crazy scene,” Murray said. “I dunno what prompted me to do it. It’s something that I had done to someone else before, and I thought it was funny, and every time it happened, it was funny. I was wearing a mask,...

Sure, Hollywood had its doubts about his acting chops back in the day, but Reeves has shut down those haters with an impressive career that spans decades. Whether he’s kicking bad guys in John Wick or giving us all the feels in Toy Story 4, Reeves delivers something only he can: pure magic.
While we might not see him dodging bullets as Neo in Matrix 5 anytime soon, there’s plenty on the horizon.

Why wasn’t Aziz Ansari in the third season of Master of None? He was the main reason that the show was one of the biggest hits on Netflix, getting acclaimed for high praise from many critics. Ansari stared as Dev Shah, a commercial actor who was best known for the Go-Gurt commercial.
Ansari’s character, Dev, explores the life of an Indian American born to immigrant parents growing up in New York, which is vastly different from his parents’ upbringing in India. Dev is surrounded by good friends, including his best friend, Arnold (Eric Wareheim), and Denise (Lena Waithe).
Season three of Master of None goes into a different direction as it focuses on Denise, a lesbian author who marries Alicia (Naomi Ackie) after seeing her success as an author. Denise and Alicia are experiencing their relationship through thick and thin as their differences grow between them.

Inspector Hathiram Chaudhary returns in this new installment of Paatal Lok, a sequel that continues to follow the intricate investigations of a determined detective. The narrative transitions from the bustling streets of Delhi to the distinct environs of Nagaland, where the landscape itself contributes a unique texture to the unfolding drama.
Here, a dual investigation forms the backbone of the story—a high-profile case intertwined with a missing person mystery—each thread crafted to reveal deeper layers of human conflict and societal challenges.
The earlier season established a foundation with a gritty exploration of crime in an urban setting. In this chapter, the focus expands into a region defined by its own historical and cultural imprint, offering fresh perspectives on both the characters and the cases they pursue. Inspector Chaudhary’s experience, marked by personal struggle and unwavering resolve, serves as the central pillar around which events coalesce.
