My Lady Jane has sadly been added to the ever-growing list of streaming shows canceled after just one season. Despite being praised as one of the best shows of the year so far, the series didn't attract enough viewers to earn another season. While the story did end on a positive note, fans were understandably disappointed by the news, especially since the show only adapted the first half of the book on which it was based. Few British dynasties have inspired as much material in recent years as that of the Tudors. From Showtime’s aptly named “The Tudors,” to Hilary Mantel’s book/play/series “Wolf Hall,” to the current Broadway musical “Six,” the turbulent reign of Henry VIII and his six equally turbulent marriages have clearly had no shortage of retellings. At this point, those who want to tell a story about this family have to find a new way into its well-trod history.

Anya Reiss’ “Becoming Elizabeth,” premiering June 12 on Starz, aims to solve this problem by picking up at a more unusual point in Henry VIII’s history — more specifically in 1547, mere minutes after his death. In so doing, Reiss gives herself the gift of untangling the uniquely messy matters of succession, self-preservation, and the escalating tensions between Protestants and Catholics. After the breakout hit of Showtime’s “The Tudors” in 2007 many period dramas tried to follow suit by dropping the bell sleeves and upping the sex and nudity. Sometimes, if a show really wanted to be daring, it would insert modern music or find some way to remind audiences, “These Tudos were just like you!”

Creator Anya Reiss’ “Becoming Elizabeth” attempts to do something different by trying its hardest to adhere to the history of the era. This isn’t to say viewers won’t see nudity or hear some electric guitar on the new Starz series, but for every moment like that there’s episodes devoted to characters discussing the distinction between Catholicism and Protestantism. Will this bore an audience used to “The Tudors” model of television? It’s certainly possible. The premium cabler announced today a Sunday, June 12 premiere date for Becoming Elizabeth, its upcoming Tudor drama exploring the fascinating, untold story of the early life of England’s most iconic Queen.

On linear, it will debut on Starz at 9:00 Et/Pt in the U.S. and Canada.

Peacock has shared the first look at its new upcoming comedy series “Killing It,” streaming this April.

Created by “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” producers Dan Goor and Luke Del Tredici, “Killing It” stars Craig Robinson as Craig, a man who competes in a state-sponsored python hunt in his quest to achieve the American Dream. The series co-stars Stephanie Nogueras as Craig’s ex-wife Camille, Jet Miller as his pre-teen daughter Vanessa and Rell Battle as his younger brother Isaiah. Claudia O’Doherty, Scott Macarthur and Wyatt Walter round out the cast.

There aren’t many awkward silences on “This Way Up.” That’s partly because the show clips along at such a pace that there’s not much room for any. Mostly, though, it’s that the woman at its center is preternaturally capable of filling gaps in any conversation.

It certainly doesn’t mean that “This Way Up” isn’t patient.
