Get Fast Review: Laughter and Action in Perfect Harmony
Image
In “Get Fast,” a 2024 action crime film, viewers are thrown into a frenzy of heists and fast-paced chase scenes. This is a follow-up to James Clayton’s “Bullet Proof.” It explores loyalty among crooks and is filled with absurdity and humor, like a fun action movie with lots of crazy moments.

“Get Fast” is a commentary on the human situation, going beyond mere adrenaline-fueled escape. The narrative reflects historical figures who straddle the line between heroism and villainy. The Cowboy (Phillips) embodies the endearing rogue archetype, diverting our attention away from the violence that lies dormant behind his charisma.

The humor in the film serves as a coping strategy for the chaos. Offering a mirror to our social choices is a time obsessed with instant gratification. “Get Fast” challenges viewers to question their role in the craziness of today’s thrill-seeking world. The motto, “Get fast, get gone,” encapsulates a...

'Bullet Proof' Action Flick With 33% Rt Score Is Now One of the Most-Streamed Movies
Image
In 2022, James Clayton directed Bullet Proof, his first feature film which, unfortunately, was met with more than a few unkind words from critics. Starring Clayton as The Thief, the movie also featured the talents of Vinnie Jones, Lina Lecompte, and Philip Granger, who all banded together to create what this writer believes is a fun, action-packed adventure, despite what the detractors say. Now, two years later, it seems a lot of people agree, as the film has risen to the top of the global charts over on Paramount+.

Per FlixPatrol, Bullet Proof has taken the top spot on the streaming service in 18 countries, including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and Venezuela, to name a few. The plot revolves around Clayton’s character pulling off the heist of a lifetime when he robs the psychotic drug lord, Temple (Jones), only to discover a stowaway in his getaway car – Temple's pregnant wife, Mia (Lecompte...

Get Fast – Review
Image
The review of this aptly-named, fast-paced action flick, Get Fast, will contain fewer plot and character details than usual because they just don’t matter. The film opens with a heist and a heist of the first heisters. We learn that the big bags of cash being contested belong to a ruthless criminal who will do anything to get her bucks back. What ensues in the sprawling desert landscape is a series of chases, fights and shootouts, as the multiple factions compete for the loot, while scrambling to survive whatever the others throw at them. It’s high-octane, fairly bloody, and liberally laced with dark humor and dollops of slapstick.

The most familiar face belongs to Lou Diamond Phillips as a contemporary Fancy Dan cowboy who is the boss lady’s designated hitter… decidedly not in the baseball sense. It took a moment to recognize him behind the facial hair...

‘The Return’ Trailer: Ralph Fiennes Is a Bare-Chested and Bloodied Odysseus Battling for Juliette Binoche
Image
Ralph Fiennes may be turning heads this awards season for his buzzy performance as Cardinal Lawrence in “Conclave,” but the two-time Academy Award nominee is showing off a different set of skills in epic saga “The Return.”

Fiennes stars as the iconic hero Odysseus in the TIFF-selected feature, which is co-written, directed, and produced by Uberto Pasolini, who previously moved viewers to tears this year with “Nowhere Special.” Juliette Binoche plays Odysseus’ wife Penelope, who has to protect the throne in the aftermath of the Trojan War.

The official synopsis reads: “After 20 years away, Odysseus (Fiennes) washes up on the shores of Ithaca, haggard and unrecognizable. The King has returned from the Trojan War, but much has changed in his kingdom. His beloved wife Penelope (Binoche) is a prisoner in her own home, hounded by suitors vying to be king. Their son Telemachus faces death at the hands of these suitors,...

Lou Diamond Phillips in Intense Action Movie 'Get Fast' Official Trailer
Image
"Old friend of mine used to say: 'get fast, get gone.' Means never linger on a job..." Well Go USA debuted the full trailer for an intense action movie called Get Fast, arriving on VOD in November to watch. This one is skipping theaters and this trailer will show you exactly why – not much to see. This "high-octane" action thriller is directed by James Clayton, who also co-stars in it. After a heist goes wrong, a thief and a troubled orphan must rescue his kidnapped partner from a ruthless drug lord and her charming hitman. With guns, cars, and explosions, their escape is a high-stakes race against time. But does it have anything to enjoy that we haven't seen before in countless other action movies? Get Fast stars Lou Diamond Phillips, Bradley Stryker, James Clayton, Alisha-Marie Ahamed, Fei Ren, and Lee Majdoub. This looks pretty bad, especially when you notice how fake everything looks,...

Juliette Binoche Says She Felt “Brother and Sister” With Ralph Fiennes Reuniting for ‘The Return’
Image
Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche reunited over a quarter-century after they starred together in the Oscar-winning The English Patient to star in the classical drama The Return, which had a world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Saturday night.

While Fiennes was not on hand at TIFF owing to acting duties back in Britain, Binoche paid tribute to her co-star as she insisted they share similar qualities, despite coming from different countries and backgrounds.

“I always love working with him (Fiennes), because there’s so much rhythm, around the weight of words, the weight of silence and still is. It’s very genuine,” Binoche told the Roy Thomson Hall audience after receiving a short, yet brisk standing ovation when The Return concluded.

“And I feel very much like, even though we’re husband and wife in this film, we’re like brother and sister. We’re very much alike,...

Noah Media Restructures To Focus On International Docs With Small Number Of Layoffs
Image
Exclusive: Noah Media, producer of Netflix’s 14 Peaks and Sky’s Villeneuve Pironi, has restructured to focus on international docs and laid off a small number of staff.

The London outfit has in the past few months transitioned from a “UK sports-based production company into an international documentary producer,” according to a statement from CEO and co-founder John McKenna.

“This will see us transition from a staff-based to a more freelance-based model, in line with the norm across the factual production space,” said McKenna. “This has unfortunately meant some redundancies in the past few months for some employees we think are fantastic colleagues and people.”

For the year to March 31 2023, Noah had around 45 staff, according to its latest accounts. It will offer “freelance project-specific contracts” for employees who have lost jobs where possible, McKenna added, and he said this has already happened for some of those laid off.

‘Death Pursuit’ Review
Image
Stars: Vinne Jones, James Clayton, Lina Lecompte, Danny Mac | Written by Cooper Bibaud, Danny Mac | Directed by James Clayton

I’m not quite sure which is the least imaginative, calling an action film Death Pursuit or casting Vinne Jones as a psychotically violent criminal. James Clayton went with both in his directorial debut and that should have sent up more red flags than a text message from an ex.

Death Pursuit opens in a scrapyard as some goons are executing what I presume are rival goons. While they’re doing that The Thief slips in and helps himself to stacks of cash that are just sitting there unguarded. His exit is a little more complicated and he ends up fleeing in a car that has Mia the pregnant wife of Temple (Vinnie Jones) the man he just ripped off, hidden in the trunk.

Writers Cooper Bibaud and Danny Mac, who...

Actor-producer James Clayton’s directorial debut features himself as a criminal without a name (he’s just called “The Thief”) but with a code of honour of sorts, stubble and an attractively croaky baritone voice. When he nicks a wodge of cash from a criminal gang led by Temple and steals a car from one of Temple’s underlings, he finds a surprise in the trunk: Temple’s heavily pregnant wife Mia (Lina Lecompte). But the thief is a nice guy, so instead of, say, shooting his stowaway (who is trying to escape her violent husband) he brings her along with him as they try to shake the assorted hench-people Temple sends after them.

Although the gobs of fisticuffs and gunfire that punctuate the plot are so generic they...

New UK Trailer for Action Film 'Death Pursuit' Starring Vinnie Jones
Adam Sandler and Damon Wayans in À l'épreuve des balles (1996)
"If he's still alive... get him!!" Signature Entertainment in the UK has revealed an official UK trailer for an action thriller film titled Death Pursuit, also known as Bullet Proof. Both of these titles are generic and unexciting and don't offer any unique insight into what this film is about. A psychotic drug lord and his top hit man pursue the cantankerous thief who made off with his money and his beautiful wife. This Canadian production is described as "a full-throttle action thriller boasting jaw-dropping stunts and featuring action superstar Vinnie Jones." The film's director, James Clayton, plays the thief who pulls off a robbery of a lifetime but ends up with extra baggage. His only chance to escape is to drive. The cast also includes Lina Lecompte, Janvier Katabarwa, Philip Granger, and Gaston Morrison. It looks like more straight-to-vhs action trash right from a bargain bin in the 90s.

Villeneuve and Pironi Formula 1 “Betrayal” To Be Spotlighted In Doc From Noah Media Group & Sky Studios; Mark Webber To Exec
Image
Exclusive: A feature doc on one of Formula 1’s most dramatic moments, the row between Ferrari drivers Gilles Villeneuve and Didier Pironi, is the first project to emerge from Finding Jack Charlton producer Noah Media and Sky Studios’ multi-year partnership, with F1 driver Mark Webber set to exec produce.

Villeneuve & Pironi will focus on an intense two-week period in the early 1980s that became known as ‘The Betrayal.’ The film will feature interviews with those closest to the two men, with premiere date set for late next year.

The teammates were both aiming to win the 1982 F1 World Title but, during the final laps of that year’s San Marino Grand Prix, Pironi passed Villeneuve to win the race while Villeneuve believed the two had been instructed to slow down. This was an unexpected act that went completely against the team orders Villeneuve thought they were obeying and they never spoke again.

Project Hail Mary Review
Image
After the runaway success of The Martian, culminating in a big budget Hollywood blockbuster helmed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon, expectations have run high for each new Andy Weir book. His sophomore effort, Artemis, was a change of pace, a science fiction thriller set inside a city on the Moon. Project Hail Mary uses a broader canvas as the backdrop for an interstellar race against time, but it still cleaves to Weir’s favorite themes: competence in the face of adversity, and a willingness to fight for survival. One key difference is that the stakes are higher in Project Hail Mary: rather than one life being at risk, Weir’s antagonist in this book threatens the survival of the entire human race, and other galactic civilizations beside our own.
