The title of the fourth of the new seven-chapter series (consisting of 26 episodes) is "Mizuiro no Sasha" ("Light Blue Sasha"). Bandai Namco Filmworks just gave us a fresh look at Gunjō no Asteroid (Ultramarine Asteroid), the third movie in the Yamato yo Towa ni: Rebel 3199 (Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199) series. This is the latest entry in the ongoing Space Battleship Yamato remakes.

A special Blu-ray edition of the film will launch on April 11, the same day it hits theaters. If you’re willing to wait, regular Blu-ray and DVD versions will be available on June 25.

This isn’t just a trilogy—there are seven movies planned for the full story. Crunchyroll is streaming the project under the name Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199.

The first film, Kuro no Shinryaku (Dark Invasion), debuted on July 19, pulling in 58.8 million yen in its first three days. The second movie, Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki (The Assault of the Burning Sun), followed on November 22, earning 64.1 million yen in the same time frame.

A new, very important cast member joins the ranks of Be Forever Yamato Rebel 3199 —and she's taking the role on from her mother. Megumi Han will be playing Sasha, the niece of protagonist Susumu Kodai. Besides being Kodai's only remaining blood relative, Sasha plays a very important role in the story going forward. Following a successful run in its native Japan, animated Mecha film Mobile Suit Gundam Nt is coming to the U.S. with a new English-language dub for one night in February. Produced by Sunrise Inc.'s 1st Studio, directed by Toshikazu Yoshizawa and written by Harutoshi Fukui (Mobile Suit Gundam Uc), Mobile Suit Gundam Nt is a new work in the Universal Century saga and depicts what lies beyond "Gundam Uc."

As an exciting bonus to viewing the highly-anticipated feature, fans will get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look, plus the first 50 attendees at each cinema will receive a Gundam Nt double-sided poster.

Anime fan favourite Space Pirate Captain Harlock stars in a new movie... but is it worth the wait?

If you're a fan of manga, you probably already know Harlock, although his fan following is much larger in France, Quebec and Japan. Harlock is the brainchild of Leiji Matsumoto (creator of Space Battleship Yamato/Star Blazers). Harlock was created in the 50s, but his breakthrough came in 1978 with the release of the original television series, Space Pirate Captain Harlock. He has since then seen many incarnations, but he had been absent from our screens since 2002. Given the current trend of revisiting old franchise favourites, Harlock was bound to suffer the reboot treatment at one point. Another awesome new trailer has been released for the great looking CG animated film Captain Harlock: Space Pirate. The film may look like a video game cut scene, but it doesn't make it any less cool.

The story follows Captain Harlock as he fights for humanity with his 40 crew members aboard the invincible space battleship Arcadia. I'm looking forward to checking this out as soon as it gets released, whenever that is.

The movie is an adaptation of the popular Japanese manga series, which was created by Leiji Matsumoto in 1978 that eventually spawned a TV anime series, a few features, and the sequel called Arcadia of My Youth: Endless Orbit Ssx.

The script was written by Harutoshi Fukui (Mobile Suit Gundam Uc novels, live-action Bōkoku no Aegis) and was developed to reflect the themes of modern society. It was directed by Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed). The movie should be released in Japan sometime this fall.

Even if you’re not a fan of manga anime, it’s well worth it to watch. Based on the original space opera anime Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Leiji Matsumoto’s manga character is being brought to CGI life in a new theatrical flick from Toei Animation.

Directed by Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) from a script by Mobile Suit Gundam Uc author Harutoshi Fukui, the story follows Captain Harlock as he fights for humanity with his 40 crew members aboard the invincible space battleship Arcadia.

The 1978 Matsumoto’s manga initiated a TV anime series, a few features, and the 1982 sequel called ‘Arcadia of My Youth: Endless Orbit Ssx.’

Despite the fact that this new Captain Harlock CG feature is technically an adaptation, the film still follows the same story and the look of the character is even similar, though decidedly darker than the original 1978 Space Pirate Captain Harlock.

Though the property was first created in 1978 by Leiji Matsumoto, a feature film of the series has never been made, until now. The film was written by  Mobile Suit Gundam Uc author Harutoshi Fukui and directed by Appleseed director Shinji Aramaki. It's expected to be released this fall (via Anime News Network ).

At the 2010 Tokyo International Anime Fair, the trailer to Space Pirate Captain Harlock was screened inside the Toei Animation booth and fortunately for us, a sneaky fellow has captured the footage on video camera and uploaded it online. The 4-minute pilot trailer was directed by Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed Ex Machina), characters designed by Yutaka Minowa (Ninja Scroll), written by Harutoshi Fukui (Mobile Suit Gundam Uc) and the animation was produced by Marza Animation Planet (formerly Sega Sammy Visual Entertainment).
