After studying classical piano and participating in an annual concert at the Salle Pleyel in Paris, Sebastien Durand discovered the City of Light. It was at this time that he realized his desire to be an actor.

In 1986 he began his training with Jean-Jacques Mahn. He continued his studies with Jean Périmony before joining the Pygmalion Studio, where he worked with Jeanne Gottesdiener, Pascal Emmanuel Luneau, Jean Michel Steinfort and Patricia Sterlin.

He furthered his craft by taking a master class of the Meisner method with teacher Bernard Hiller.

While working as a makeup artist at the Athénée Theatre in 1989, Durand was approached by Jean-Luc Paliès to reprise the role of Louis XIV's part in Les Amants Magnifiques (Molière and Lully).

In the heater, he has performed in plays by Molière, Courteline Krumb, Gerard, Arout, Prévert. In addition, he worked for a short period with Farfadais 's company. In 2001 he began working for the Paris Opera (Paquita directed by Pierre Lacotte, then in Romeo and Juliet by Noureev). He was then directed by Robert Carsen in Les Contes D'Hoffmann, Alcina, The Capulets and The Montagues. In 2006 he performed and created the character of the Dulcamara's assistant in L'Elisir D'Amour, directed by Laurent Pelly.

In the cinema, Sébastien Durand has performed various parts. He played a schizophrenic in 'Puppet' from Guillaume Fradin, a pathological liar in 'Le Territoire De La Francilienne' from Laurent Edeline, an unscrupulous producer in 'Des Poupées Et Des Anges' from Nora Hamdi, a hitman in 'For A Few Euros More' from Marine Van Den Broek, a tireless manipulator in 'Trash Story' from Guillaume Antonas, a psychopath in 'Un Soir Comme Les Autres' from Axel Joly, Professor Pinnard in '8 Clos' from Raphael Tournaire, as the husband of the swinger couple in 'L'Amour Dure Trois Ans' from Frédéric beigbeder, most recently, the DGSE's agent in "Détectives" from Lorenzo Gabriele in 2013.

In the field of advertisements, he played an Orangina bottle and was directed by Denis Thybaud; he also acted as a bourgeois in Mamie Nova directed by Artus de Penguern.

Equally passionate about singing and dancing, he has sung alongside Laurence Russel Albert and Claudia Parisi, and has danced with Wayne Byars and Loula Dombrowsky.
