Hawkeye’ Actor Aleks Paunovic to Star in Psychological Thriller ‘Human Nature’ (Exclusive)
Image
Aleks Paunovic, known for his roles in Marvel’s “Hawkeye” and “Snowpiercer,” is now set to star in Canadian actor-turned-director Luvia Petersen’s psychological thriller “Human Nature.”

The feature project, currently showcased at Frontieres’ Genre Film Lab, is in advanced development, with Amanda Konkin of Download Joy Productions also attached.

“I was fortunate enough to see Luvia’s work as an actor, but seeing her drive and commitment to the craft and storytelling, I was just honored that she asked me to be a part of the project,” Paunovic told Variety. The two acted together in the fantasy series “Van Helsing.”

Currently promoting “GenZeroes,” the first live-action Nft series, Paunovic will play Rigger, the owner of the cabin where two very different couples are spending their ill-fated weekend.

“Heck, if she asked me to get coffee, I would have done it. She’s just a next level storyteller and I...

Frontieres Market Welcomes ‘Films for Women by Women,’ Gets Tipsy on ‘Space Beers’
Image
Frontières International Co-Production Market – back to an in-person event after four online editions – has unveiled this year’s projects, including 18 titles in its official selection, all in advanced development stages or now financing.

Ranging from the highly personal to absolutely outlandish, they make for a varied lineup. It is packed by female-centered stories, from “Camp,” about a woman so dependent on her new friends that she fails to notice their sinister agenda, to “Beasts of Prey,” “Bugul Noz,” “Jane” or Canadian offering “Bloody Bunny” by Kat and Karissa Strain.

“There simply aren’t enough women in the film industry, especially the indie film scene in Canada, for us to draw on as mentors and collaborators. We hope ‘Bloody Bunny’ can play a part in the change we would like to see,” they said, calling it a film “for women by women.”

Mètis filmmaker Laura Tremblay will produce, while the directors...

‘Dead Rising: Endgame’ Review
Stars: Jesse Metcalfe, Keegan Connor Tracy, Jessica Harmon, Dennis Haysbert, Marie Avgeropoulos, Teach Grant, Dakota Guppy, Stephen Lobo, Curtis Lum, Lee Majdoub, Luvia Petersen, Sandy Robson, Heather Roop, Patrick Sabongui | Written by Michael Ferris, Tim Carter | Directed by Pat Williams

There are a plethora of really shitty movies based on video games being released each year. None of them holding a candle to the source material it is based on. However each and every time I get suckered in because I want to be impressed by these attempts, as a movie fan and a gamer I need to be impressed. And let’s be honest, the premise of the Dead Rising games is just about absurd enough to work as a movie and with this being the second outing well have they learnt.

Based on the worldwide smash-hit video game series, Dead Rising: Endgame is the sequel to last years...

Continuum: Season Four Ratings
Last season saw the ratings for the Continuum TV show drop nearly 30% when compared to the second season's Syfy numbers. It's been decided that the shortened fourth season will be the series' last. Will it go out with high or low ratings? Will execs wish there was fifth season or regret that it didn't end sooner? Stay tuned.

Continuum revolves around a female police officer (Rachel Nichols) from the future who gets caught up in a conflict that spans between 2012 and 2077. The cast also includes Victor Webster, Erik Knudsen, Roger Cross, Stephen Lobo, Lexa Doig, Omari Newton, Luvia Petersen, Brian Markinson, Jennifer Spence, and Richard Harmon.

Fans of Syfy's Continuum have been waiting to find out the fate of the series. The show hasn't been renewed yet -- but it hasn't been cancelled either.

Continuum: A Powerful Second Season Concludes Its Eventful Journey
Falling in love with TV shows is a wonderful feeling. There’s the rush of tingling excitement over each new episode. Earlier this year, Syfy debuted the first season of the Canadian sci-fi series Continuum and I fell head over heels. I loved the idea of a time-traveling series with the heroine stuck in our present day trying to get back to her future and having to keep her identity a secret. There was a sense that everything could be snatched away from her for a second time as she struggled to maintain some kind of life as a police officer and making tentative friends and allies. So as we followed Detective Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols), we grew more immersed in her intriguing world straddling the police department dilemmas with her partner Det. Carlos Fonnegra (Victor Webster) and her attempts to find a way home with the aid of a young teen super-genius,...

12 Big Reasons To Watch Syfy’s ‘Continuum’
The much-deserved success of Being Human and Lost Girl have amplified the supernatural factor on the Syfy network, which used to be the home for science fiction buffs. Lately, it has struggled to keep the core audience interested in Alphas and Eureka but consider Continuum, Syfy’s mea culpa.

Continuum is a science fiction series about a revolution, spearheaded by a group of rebels calling themselves Liber8, charged for terrorism in Vancouver in the year 2077, but escape their sentence by time traveling to 2012 where they can rewrite history and right the wrongs of the future. Also sent back to 2012 is Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols), a protector (futuristic law enforcer) who gets caught in the teleportation. Stuck in the present day, Kiera must preserve her life in the future, by stopping the rebels and finding a way to back to her life in the future. She is assisted by Matthew (Stephen Lobo...

Blood & Chrome and general updates
Eventful week. To play catch-up:

The big news that every site reported in a slightly different way is that Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome will be a digital series and a TV film, but not a TV show, at least not one produced by Syfy/Universal Cable Prods. You have probably read the Deadline article by now.

With the possibility that Universal may still shop B&C around, it doesn't sound like they have any immediate plans to make more of it beyond the existing pilot/web series/Mow.

No word yet on a release date, but Battlestar Wiki reports that we'll be seeing Blood & Chrome as a web series first and then as a TV movie.

Doug Drexler posted this the other day (full post at the link):

If sets had been built for this show, it would have cost 6 million easily, instead of only the 2 million it did cost,...
