Pilar is a native of the Pacific Northwest, growing up in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. She started her professional career at 15, appearing onstage at Idaho Shakespeare Festival in multiple productions. Attending the University of Utah's Actor Training Program, Pilar graduated with a double major and graduated cum laude all while paying for her college education through her acting jobs.

She then attend The Juilliard School's Drama Division in New York City, and upon graduating from Juilliard, Pilar worked across the United States and in Europe in theatre. In New York City, Pilar has appeared on Broadway as well as many off Broadway productions.

Pilar started her television career, as have so many New York City based actors, with the Law and Order franchises, with a recurring role on Law & Order: SVU as public defender Julia Hinton. She also appeared on the show a number of times as less than honest characters. In addition to SVU, Pilar also guest starred on Law & Order numerous times..

Other television gigs followed, including New Amsterdam, Sneaky Pete, The Last O.G., Instinct, The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, as well as recurring roles on Dr. Death, Lincoln Rhyme: The Bone Collector, and The Big C.

Films include: Lust, Life, Love, Ten Stories Tall, The Taking of Beslan and Custody, among others.

Pilar got her voiceover and narration start by volunteering with the Jewish Guild for the Blind, reading the New York Times weekly and live on the air for their national broadcast. Since that beginning, Pilar has now narrated over 160 titles of audio books in almost every genre imaginable.
