Former German soccer player, compiling 35 caps for Germany's national side. During his professional club career, he played for Mönchengladbach (1987-1990, 1994-1998), Bayern Munich (1990-1992, 1998-2002), AC Fiorentina (1992-1994), VfL Wolfsburg (2002-2003) and Al Arabi (2003-2004).

If one of my players smokes, then he smokes. I am not interested in that. I am not someone who stands next to the players and asks them: Do you smoke? This is pointless. None of them would raise their hand anyways. I am about individual responsibility in my team, also among the players. But if a player has deficiencies in endurance, speed or willingness, he might run into trouble.
