Reacher Fans Won't Be Able To Recognize Alan Ritchson In His American Idol Audition
Image
Alan Ritchson is one of the more exciting breakthrough actors of the 2020s. Sure, he has had a pretty steady acting career since the mid-2000s, with notable roles including Arthur Curry/Aquaman on "Smallville," which led to a failed "Aquaman" TV pilot for The WB. However, most viewers now recognize him for leading the hit Prime Video series, "Reacher," based on Lee Child's "Jack Reacher" novel series, which previously spawned two film adaptations starring Tom Cruise in the role.

Beyond his work serving as the lead star of "Reacher," Ritchson has made some other notable appearances in films such as "Fast X" and "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare," among others, all of which often showcase his staggering physical presence onscreen. His career has put him on numerous fan casting lists as a possible contender for roles in major franchises, most notably James Gunn's DC Universe. In particular,...

‘American Idol’ shocker: Filo is eliminated in the Top 12 after ironically singing ‘I’m Not Going’
Image
On Monday night's "Iconic Idol Moments" episode of American Idol, viewers were shocked and outraged when Filo was eliminated in the Top 12.

The 23-year-old singer from Dublin, Calif. was an early favorite to win the competition after claiming the platinum ticket on New Year's Eve. Alas, he failed to make the cut with the real-time voters after ironically singing "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls. Former American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson popularized that song, and her fellow former Idol Fantasia Barrino, who won Season 3, was the mentor this week.

"I'll never forget the moment that Fantasia was in the Bottom 3 with Jennifer," Filo told the camera. "The way she rallied back and went all the way and won the show is so inspirational."

In their mentoring session, Fantasia instructed Filo to "pick and choose" his moments in the song, and to "let it breathe," instead of rushing the lyrics.

Fantasia returns to ‘American Idol’ as Top 10 are revealed in ‘Iconic Idol Moments’: Who gave the best performance?
Image
Tonight on American Idol, the Top 12 recreate iconic moments from the singing competition's past as Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino mentors the contestants. Artist-in-residence Jelly Roll joins the audience as judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan provide feedback.

After the Top 12 perform, two will be eliminated when host Ryan Seacrest announces the Top 10.

Fantasia created her own iconic moment when she sang "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess while competing in Season 3. The classic performance took place on April 15, 2004, when the Top 8 took on songs from movie soundtracks. Long before standing ovations were the norm after each Idol performance, original judge Randy Jackson rose to his feet and declared it "the single best Idol performance of any season." Paula Abdul called it "Oscar-winning" and the hard-to-impress Simon Cowell said, "You prove the point, with that performance tonight, why we are critical of people who just sing well. There was something...

Carrie Underwood’s American Idol salary could be ‘substantially less’ than former judge Katy Perry
Carrie Underwood
With Carrie Underwood replacing Katy Perry as one of the American Idol judges, the show seems to be keeping its costs down.

According to a source, the former show winner will receive around the same amount as fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

That amount is “substantially less” than Katy received while a judge on the show.

After appearing as a guest judge in Season 9, the Teenage Dream singer returned eight years later, in Season 16, to become a full-time judge. Her time on the show involved controversy and backlash, though.

She abruptly left before Season 23, and the show announced Carrie as her replacement. Inside sources have already said the Idol crew is happier to have the Season 4 winner in Katy’s place.

Based on a recent report via The U.S. Sun, some of that happiness with Carrie as a judge could also be due to the salary savings.

Why Former 'American Idol' Winner Fantasia Barrino Was Once Kicked Out Of An Airbnb
Image
Fantasia Barrino won over reality television viewers when she competed on American Idol in its third season. Winning the competition was a victorious moment for the talented singer, who had been through a rough journey up until that point.

Fantasia dropped out of high school, became a single mother, and lived on welfare all before she entered her twenties. She encountered producers who encouraged her not to share her story, fearing it would turn viewers off. However, she defied those requests and proved them wrong.

More recently, Fantasia starred in the film adaptation of The Color Purple musical. Her starring turn as Celie was a tough experience for her, but very rewarding. After a grueling promotional tour, Fantasia decided to rent an Airbnb for her kids and throw a party for her son. However, they were asked to leave shortly afterward and the singer shared her experience on social media.

Clay Aiken was one of the first major stars to come out of American Idol after Kelly Clarkson’s first season win. Cynthia Erivo Acknowledges Tensions With ‘The Color Purple’ Movie Team: ‘That’s a Long, Complicated Conversation’
Image
When Warner Bros.’ 2023 movie adaptation of the Broadway musical “The Color Purple” began casting and production, many fans of the 2015 revival — and its Tony-winning lead actress, Cynthia Erivo — were surprised that its star would not reprise the role that made her famous for the big screen. After all, her Tony-nominated co-star Danielle Brooks got the gig to again play Sofia, with producer Oprah Winfrey’s personal blessing.

Instead, the original original star of the Broadway musical from 2005, “American Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino, landed the coveted (and demanding) role of Celie.

Now in the midst of her press rounds for her highly anticipated starring role as Elphaba opposite Ariana Grande’s Glinda in Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of “Wicked,” the actress appeared on Marc Maron’s “Wtf” podcast on Monday and acknowledged, for what appears to be the first time, standing tensions with the players behind the “Color Purple” movie.

I'm Worried Abi Carter's Season Is The Last Of American Idol As We Know It For This One Reason
Image
Katy Perry's departure from American Idol may lead to a complete overhaul of the judging panel, with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan's futures uncertain. Disney is tight-lipped about the decision for Katy's replacement, potentially leaving Lionel and Luke out of the process. If a male judge is chosen, it may necessitate replacing one or both of the male judges, as an all-male panel is unlikely.

The amazing Abi Carter won American Idol season 22, but I'm worried that her win could mark the end of an era for the ABC version of the reality singing competition series if Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan are also replaced after Katy Perry's exit. Lionel, Katy, and Luke were the original judges when Disney-owned ABC revived American Idol in 2018 after Fox canceled the beloved show in 2016. They judged together for seven seasons, and discovered some of the most successful artists in the ABC era of the show,...

Fantasia Barrino once found herself being evicted from an Airbnb apartment, and she didnt hesitate to reveal the reason why.

Fantasia first rose to fame appearing on Season 3 of American Idol in 2003. She would go on to win the entire season, and consequently became one of the most successful contestants to ever come out of the show.

Despite this early success, Fantasia's journey hasnt always been smooth. Celebrity Net Worth estimates that she is worth $500,000, a figure many would agree does not quite match her reputation. The When I See...

American Idol Judges Stopped Her Emotional Audition, But Now This Alum Can't Afford To Release Music
Image
Just Sam won American Idol but struggled with her record label, ending up broke and paying off debts. Fantasia Barrino, another former winner, faced similar struggles, learning the importance of business acumen. Benson Boone, post-Idol, succeeded with Taylor Swift's support.

Without a doubt, appearing on American Idol can be life-changing. That holds true for contestants that don't last on the reality TV series. Take Benson Boone as an example. The former contestant might overtake Kelly Clarkson as the most successful artist to appear on the show. Taylor Swift giving him a nod of approval boosted his popularity to the next level, perhaps more so than Idol.

Winning American Idol certainly doesn't guarantee anything, and contestants learned all about that in the past. In the following, we're going to take a closer look at what life is like for a former winner, and the struggles she faced once the show came to an end.

American Idol alums are the best choice to fill Katy Perry's judging seat on American Idol season 23. Several American Idol winners and runners-up would be fantastic judges. These former American Idol contestants have the experience and talent to guide new contestants through the competition.

Now that Katy Perry has exited American Idol after seven seasons as a judge, there has been a lot of speculation about who should take her seat, and the best choice would be an alum of the reality singing competition series. Katy was one of the original American Idol judges alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan when ABC revived the show in 2018 after its 2016 cancelation by Fox. This is the first time that the judging panel has been changed since the show premiered on the network.
