- Enjoyed making home movies as a kid and would include his three younger brothers, two younger sisters and friends in his films. In 1995, Rhett created a horror trilogy entitled, "Ghost" in which his sister played a masked killer who terrorized a group of teens. A year later the same Halloween mask would gain international interest when it was worn by the masked killer in the popular horror trilogy, Scream.
- Won the BYU-Idaho (Ricks College)"Outstanding Character Actor Oscar" for his portrayal of Peachy Weil in the 1999-2000 theater production of The Last Night of Ballyhoo.
- Winner of the 2020 New Screenwriter Award for The Wild Bunch Film Festival.
