Biography

    • World Champion kickboxer Curtis Bush was born on May 26, 1962 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Bush's fighting career lasted from 1979 to 1999. He participated in 75 fights altogether and has 54 wins to his credit, with 40 knockouts which include fifteen first round knockouts. Bush fought twenty-two times outside of America. Curtis started out in amateur kickboxing in 1979 and turned pro on June 11, 1983 with a televised fight with Jackie "Hollywood" Dixon. In 1984 Bush made his professional boxing debut and was handpicked by legendary boxer Muhammad Ali to box on Ali's Champion Sports Pro Boxing Team in the Cayman Islands. He's a four-time World Champion kickboxer and two-time United States boxing champion. His fights have been broadcast on both ESPN and Eurosport television. Curtis retired from competition on June 30, 1999. On April 27, 1995 he was honored with Curtis Bush Day in his hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia by Mayor Meyera E. Oberndorf for his work as a motivational speaker for DARE. Bush owned the Curtis Bush Karate Club for eight years. Outside of fighting, Curtis has also done quite a bit of acting. He made his film debut as a deranged poacher in the movie "Dragon Hunt," portrayed foot soldiers in the first two "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" pictures, and had his only lead as an urban vigilante in the enjoyably awful low-budget schlock hoot "The Dark Angel: Psycho Kickboxer." Moreover, Bush has popped up on several episodes of the hit TV series "Lost." In 2003 Curtis was the recipient of a Living Legends Sport Karate Award in Charlotte, North Carolina. Curtis Bush now works as a behavior counselor and lives on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.
