Biography

    • Alice Perman is an award-winning film-maker for television and film.

Her most recent work as a Series Director includes the critically-acclaimed Picasso: The Beauty And The Beast (2023) for the BBC. As a director her productions have twice been nominated for BAFTAs: for her BBC documentary series Protecting Our Parents on (2014) the older adult care system, which was also nominated for an RTS and a Broadcast Award; and for Thatcher: A Very British Revolution (2019) which was also nominated for a Grierson award and won the British Press Guild award.

Alice has worked with some of the industry's principal talents - both on-screen and off - writing the international Emmy-nominated drama The Hamburg Cell (2004) for Film 4 alongside Ronan Bennett, directed by Antonia Bird and produced by Finola Dwyer. As a producer of feature documentaries, she has delivered films alongside Oscar-winning filmmaker Vikram Jayanti, and Emmy-winning director, Greg Barker. As an Executive Producer, she delivered Bruce Goodison's Murder In The Carpark (2020), the critically acclaimed doc-drama series on the murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan for Channel 4 Television.

Alice has a strong track record for combining original journalism, powerful human stories and visual flair. Her passion is for creating space on screen for underrepresented voices, often those dealing with social injustice.

Her documentary on forced adoption, Breaking The Silence: Britain's Adoption Scandal (2016), prompted an apology from the head of the Catholic Church in the UK, which was reported across the globe. Her documentary Working With Weinstein (2018) filmed alongside UK survivors of the Hollywood mogul to uncover the extent of his abuse of women in the UK film industry. Its revelations made headline news in every British newspaper, alongside Deadline, Variety and the Washington Post.
