Phill was born in São Paulo, Brazil to a Brazilian mother and American father. Phill moved to Watchung, New Jersey when he was eight years old and spent the rest of his childhood there, attending Watchung Hills Regional High School. He then attended Rutgers University New Brunswick where he studied psychology and education, and was also captain of the quadball (formerly known as quidditch) team. He also played guitar and backup vocals for pop punk band Crime Alert. After graduating in 2017 with a bachelors degree, Phill briefly moved back to São Paulo to teach elementary school. He then returned to the United States and moved to Honolulu, Hawai'i where he attended The University of Hawai'i at Manoa, studying acting and travel industry management. During/after the pandemic, Phill began living between Hawai'i and New Jersey while beginning a career as a scuba diving instructor. Phill was dive instructing and cleaning pools when he was cast as player 451 in Netflix's Squid Game: The Challenge, where he competed for the chance to win $4.56 million, eventually winning second place overall. After the show, Phill moved back to New Jersey where he started a new pop punk/alternative rock band called Six Ways To Saturday, where he performs vocals and guitar.
