Masters of the Universe has streamlined Skeletors origin, and in the process making He-Mans biggest villain even more tragic. Dark Horses Masters of the Universe: Revolution miniseries has retold Skeletors origin, stressing his connection to Hordak as well. In issue four, the conclusion, Skeletor gets a new backstory, one that not only makes him a tragic figure but consolidates elements of his various origins the franchise has given.

Skeletor has been voiced by several different actors, including Alan Oppenheimer and Mark Hamill.

Skeletors most fearsome creature, Panthor, gets a new origin that makes him the dark mirror of He-Mans Battle Cat. Battle Cat is one of He-Mans most important and trusted allies, and is synonymous with the character. Yet Skeletor had an animal of his own: Panthor. While Panthor never enjoyed the popularity of Battle Cat, he still made an impact, and he gets a new origin in Masters of the Universe: Revolution #4.

While the cat never gets a name, it is unmistakably a younger version of Panthor!

Masters of the Universe: Revolution #4 is written by Tim Sheridan, Rob David and Ted Biaselli and drawn by Daniel Hdr. The issue, set largely in the confines of Keldors mind, recalls his days as a child, being raised alongside Prince Adam. As the two boys play, fans glimpse a purple kitten with yellow eyes scampering around them.

Hordak's relationship with Horde Prime is confirmed in Masters of the Universe: Revolution #2. Mattel released a Horde Prime action figure in 2012, a clue to the familial connection between him and Hordak. Hordak's backstory continues to expand, adding new layers to the iconic villain.
