He worked in management in an oil company then at Hilton Hotels and Banque Misr before entering the film industry.

Graduated in 1966 from the Faculty of Commerce in Alexandria, Egypt. He later enrolled at the Faculty of Arts, Department of Sociology at Ain Shams Univeristy.

Member of the Egyptian Chamber of Film Industry.

Was Professor of Production, Advertising and Public Relations at the Higher Institute of Cinema in Egypt from 1982 to 1990.
