Thirty years after a Los Angeles jury found O.J. Simpson not guilty of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, the case is still being poked and prodded under the microscope of curious filmmakers. The latest is Floyd Russ, whose documentary series American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson premieres Jan. 29 on Netflix.

The first trailer for the four-part series blends familiar details with novel material through reflective new interviews with prosecutor Christopher Darden, police detective Mark Fuhrman, defense attorney Carl Douglas, Ronald’s sister Kim Goldman, and key witness Kato Kaelin.

The football great turned acquitted murderer said in recent years that he subsisted entirely off of his NFL and private pensions. Many of his most valuable possessions were seized following a 1997 civil trial that awarded $33.5 million to the families of Ron Goldman and Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, both brutally murdered outside her Brentwood apartment on June 12, 1994. The weapon, a knife, was never found.

“It increases by 10 percent every year,” Fred Goldman, Ron’s father, told The Hollywood Reporter in 2022 of the civil trial amount awarded to the Goldmans. “It’s a ridiculous number, none of which has ever appeared. [Simpson] never paid one single penny. Anything that we were able to take was through our own efforts of taking things away from him.”

In the wake of pushback by victims’ families to Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Kim Goldman is speaking out about TV producers who fail to alert survivors about their true crime TV shows.

Goldman – whose brother Ron was murdered alongside Nicole Brown Simpson in 1994 – said she was “not surprised” to learn that families were caught off guard by Ryan Murphy’s latest series for Netflix. The serial killer limited series starring Evan Peters hit the 1B hours mark within the first 28 days of its release window.

“I’m not surprised,” Goldman told EW. “The same creator did the same thing to our family. I’ve seen [this type of backlash] from Gabby Petito’s family about the Lifetime movie. Lots of other families have talked about how their case has been exploited without any involvement or even a courtesy call. It’s pretty gross.”

It has been nearly three decades since Fred Goldman and daughter Kim Goldman were transformed almost overnight into reluctant celebrities amid almost inconceivable grief for Ron Goldman — their son and brother, respectively. Court TV’s first original true crime series, OJ25, will look back at the world-famous O.J. Simpson murder case 25 years later. The series will premiere on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 9:00 p.m. Et on Court TV.

OJ25 will relive the trial using Court TV’s extensive library, featuring every minute of the double murder trial. OJ25 will encapsulate the week’s courtroom action in the chronological order in which it took place 25 years ago in Los Angeles ̶ from the trial’s start on January 24, 1995 until the verdict in early October. On the day that could see O.J. Simpson granted parole from prison, the family of Ronald Goldman says they will likely never see justice in the decades-old death of their loved one.

On Thursday, O.J. Simpson will appear remotely from prison to ask Nevada’s parole board for his freedom nearly nine years after being sentenced to prison in an armed robbery.

The notorious former football star, who was acquitted of the 1994 double-murder of his then-wife and her friend, was convicted in 2008 for his role in the robbery and kidnapping of two sports memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas a year earlier.

Simpson, now 70, was sentenced to nine to 33 years in prison. His parole hearing is set for 10 a.m. local time.
