What Happened to O.J. Simpson? Netflix Documentary Explains
Image
In the American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson docuseries, a number of people involved in and affected by the infamous murder trial gave new interviews to director Floyd Russ.

Russ explains that these fresh and frank discussions were crucial in looking at the case anew. “The key was to make sure that both sides were balanced,” he says, “to make clear that this isn’t just a true crime cop documentary. It’s much deeper. So, you need people to contextualize the history, the trial.”

One of these interviews is with Kim Goldman, sister of victim Ronald Goldman. While she states up front in the four-part series that she does not wish to keep speaking about one of the most traumatic times in her life, she chooses to do so for a reason: “We have commercialized and sensationalized grief and loss and trauma...

‘American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson’ Docuseries Trailer Puts Bombshell Case Under New Microscope
Image
Thirty years after a Los Angeles jury found O.J. Simpson not guilty of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, the case is still being poked and prodded under the microscope of curious filmmakers. The latest is Floyd Russ, whose documentary series American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson premieres Jan. 29 on Netflix.

The first trailer for the four-part series blends familiar details with novel material through reflective new interviews with prosecutor Christopher Darden, police detective Mark Fuhrman, defense attorney Carl Douglas, Ronald’s sister Kim Goldman, and key witness Kato Kaelin.

O.J. Simpson Death Could Change Equation for Goldman, Brown Civil Suit Payouts
Image
The death of O.J. Simpson at 76 leaves the fate of his estate — whatever of that exists — in question.

The football great turned acquitted murderer said in recent years that he subsisted entirely off of his NFL and private pensions. Many of his most valuable possessions were seized following a 1997 civil trial that awarded $33.5 million to the families of Ron Goldman and Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, both brutally murdered outside her Brentwood apartment on June 12, 1994. The weapon, a knife, was never found.

“It increases by 10 percent every year,” Fred Goldman, Ron’s father, told The Hollywood Reporter in 2022 of the civil trial amount awarded to the Goldmans. “It’s a ridiculous number, none of which has ever appeared. [Simpson] never paid one single penny. Anything that we were able to take was through our own efforts of taking things away from him.”

But with Simpson now dead, the story could...

Ron Goldman’s Sister Makes Case For Involving Families In True Crime Dramas: “We’re Talking About Human Decency”
Image
In the wake of pushback by victims’ families to Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Kim Goldman is speaking out about TV producers who fail to alert survivors about their true crime TV shows.

Goldman – whose brother Ron was murdered alongside Nicole Brown Simpson in 1994 – said she was “not surprised” to learn that families were caught off guard by Ryan Murphy’s latest series for Netflix. The serial killer limited series starring Evan Peters hit the 1B hours mark within the first 28 days of its release window.

“I’m not surprised,” Goldman told EW. “The same creator did the same thing to our family. I’ve seen [this type of backlash] from Gabby Petito’s family about the Lifetime movie. Lots of other families have talked about how their case has been exploited without any involvement or even a courtesy call. It’s pretty gross.”

Goldman recounted how she first learned about Murphy’s...

Fred and Kim Goldman on Scars of O.J. Simpson Trial, Hollywood’s True-Crime Obsession
Image
Click here to read the full article.

It has been nearly three decades since Fred Goldman and daughter Kim Goldman were transformed almost overnight into reluctant celebrities amid almost inconceivable grief for Ron Goldman — their son and brother, respectively. Ron was a 25-year-old tennis instructor and waiter who was murdered, along with Nicole Brown Simpson, outside her Brentwood home on July 12, 1994. Ron was there to return a pair of sunglasses that Nicole’s mother had left at his restaurant — but in a dark twist, he came upon Nicole’s murder scene and met the same fate.

What followed was dubbed the Trial of the Century, with Nicole’s estranged husband, NFL star turned actor O.J. Simpson, ultimately being found not guilty of either killing. A civil lawsuit in 1997 did find Simpson liable for both deaths and awarded the Goldmans millions in damages — less than 1 percent of which they say has been recouped.

Ron Goldman's Family Reacts to Oj Simpson Being Granted Parole: 'It Was Very Disappointing'
Ron Goldman
Ron Goldman's father and sister, Kim and Fred Goldman, admit that were taken aback by O.J. Simpson's behavior during his parole hearing on Thursday.

The Goldmans appeared on Good Morning America on Friday, and reacted to the parole board in Lovelock, Nevada, granting the former NFL pro's parole. "It was shocking," Kim Goldman said of Simpson's pending release from prison after being locked up for a 2007 botched robbery. "I think I expected that [Simpson] was going to come in with a script -- 'I did these crimes, I'm so sorry, I'm remorseful, I know that there was a gun in the room.'"

Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan in Good Morning America (1975)
On the day that could see O.J. Simpson granted parole from prison, the family of Ronald Goldman says they will likely never see justice in the decades-old death of their loved one.

“Ron never gets to spend his life doing what he wanted to do,” Goldman’s father, Fred, said during a Thursday appearance on Good Morning America. “We’ll never get to share his life, and the killer will walk free and do whatever he wants.”

Fred said his family will “probably … never get the justice” in Ron’s death.

Ron Goldman's Family Emotionally Open Up About O.J. Simpson Parole Hearing: 'We'll Never Get the Justice’
Ron Goldman
Ron Goldman's father, Fred Goldman, fought back tears as he talked about the possibility that O.J. Simpson might soon walk free.

On Thursday, just hours prior to Simpson's parole hearing in Lovelock, Nevada, Ron Goldman's dad and his sister, Kim Goldman, sat down with Good Morning America's George Stephanopoulos to talk about what life has been like since the former NFL pro started serving a prison sentence for his part in the robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas in September 2007 -- and the possibility that he could be released as early as Oct. 1.

Ron Goldman’s Family Feels ‘Frustration’ as O.J. Simpson Approaches Possible Prison Release
O.J. Simpson in Y a-t-il un flic pour sauver la reine ? (1988)
On the eve of a hearing Thursday that could release O.J. Simpson from a Nevada prison, the family of murder victim Ronald Goldman is expressing “frustration” at the possible outcome.

Goldman was killed — along with Simpson’s wife, Nicole Brown Simpson — in the high-profile 1994 double-slaying for which Simpson was acquitted a year later. The former football star subsequently was judged liable for the deaths in a civil case brought by the two victims’ families.

Then, in 2008, O.J. Simpson, now 69, was convicted for his role in the armed robbery and kidnapping of two sports-memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas, in a case...

The family of Ron Goldman, who along with Nicole Brown was murdered, has spoken out against the FX series and the pain it's causing the family of the victims. Kim Goldman, Ron's sister, said the series "just kind of ripped the Band-Aid right back off, poured gallons of salt in it." "They're going to leave the Band-Aid off and leave us to be and I think it's really insensitive to not consider the families at all throughout this process," she said. The series follows O.J. He was accused of murdering Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson and eventually found not guilty by a jury. The series is based on Jeffrey Toobin's book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J.
