The final member of the DC Trinity will get a solo DC Universe movie after all. Five years after the last Wonder Woman movie, DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has revealed the future of Wonder Woman on the big screen.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly about his Superman reboot, Gunn confirmed that a new Wonder Woman movie was in early development at DC Studios, adding that it is a "separate thing" from the previously announced Paradise Lost series, which takes place on the island of Themyscira before the birth of Diana Prince. "We're working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman's being written right now," shared Gunn, who remained tight-lipped over who exactly was scripting Diana Prince's next big-screen adventure.

I’m not sure there are many people that even remember the Wes Craven-produced film The Breed from 2006. Boasting performances from Michelle Rodriguez and Oliver Hudson, it came and went without much fanfare. Which makes it the perfect candidate for a reboot! Updating the story to be about influencers heading to an island, things go awry when the dogs on the island start attacking them. Because if there’s one group of people I’d love to see get attacked by rabid dogs: it’s influencers.
I chatted with directors Nathan and Griff Furst about the challenges of filming in Guatamala that included nearly everyone on the cast/crew getting sick. Page Kennedy (who will always be Radon Randell from Blue Mountain State to me) was very transparent about how he went to bat for his character. And Riele Downs gets into how the dogs were actually much nicer...

Whether you’re talking about zero-budget Found Footage movies or tentpole blockbuster productions, getting a feature-length film off the ground is always a herculean task. That’s why it’s so tragic when a project goes off the rails, as I think most cinephiles can agree that no cast or crew has ever wanted to be part of a bad movie.
I bring this up because I want to believe that the Furst Brothers’ horror-comedy A Breed Apart is not the movie that the filmmakers originally set out to make. Only a particularly turbulent production beset by unforeseen complications, one would think, could have resulted in such a messy final product that represents some of the worst trends in modern filmmaking.
A Breed Apart was marketed as a meta-fictional follow-up to the Wes Craven-produced killer dog film, The Breed. While the majority of horror fans only remember that one...

DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran have many plans for the rebooted DC Universe, which kicks off this summer with the highly anticipated Superman. The first phase, Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, has a series of films and television shows planned, but the two are working on building the world further.
Before Gunn and Safran took over, there were plans for a third Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot. With the rebooted universe, plans for a Gal Gadot-Patty Jenkins reunion fell through. However, the character is a vital part of DC Comics, and Gunn acknowledged there are plans to bring her to the Dcu in a new reply post on Threads.
Among the comments about the recently released Superman official trailer, one fan asked, "Do you have any updates on Wonder Woman?" The filmmaker gave a positive response, teasing, "Not to be shared publicly yet but yes.

If you’ve scrolled through Reddit, Twitter, or any DC fan group lately, you’ve probably stumbled across a very specific campaign: Grace Caroline Currey for Wonder Woman. The internet has spoken loudly, and a growing number of fans think the Shazam! star should swap lightning bolts for a Lasso of Truth in James Gunn’s revamped Dcu. But what does the actress herself think about all the hype? When Fortress of Solitude caught up with Grace, she had a refreshingly humble take. “It’s very sweet. It’s an amazing thing to be in a time where people can post things and their ideas online. Anytime I’ve seen it, I just kind of go, ‘Well, that’s crazy. [Laughs]. That wouldn’t happen.’ But it sure is sweet to think that a few people out there think of that. That’s a really tall order for anyone to fill; those are big shoes.

Grace Caroline Currey is no stranger to film audiences. She starred as Carol in Annabelle: Creation, Becky in Fall, and Mary Bromfield in DC’s Shazam! films. Now, she takes on the role of Violet in the barking-mad A Breed Apart, from directors Griff and Nathan Furst. Fortress of Solitude chatted to Currey about A Breed Apart, which can best be described as Jurassic Park with rabid dogs hunting down social media influencers. She spoke about what attracted her to the part, the most ridiculous scenes from the movie, and the Wonder Woman fan art calling for her to be the next Amazon warrior in the DC Universe. Fortress of Solitude: Why A Breed Apart? What was it about this specific movie that drew you to it? Grace Caroline Currey: I’ve played a lot of characters where I was crying almost the whole movie – specifically in Fall – and it...

Another actor with franchise experience has just expressed interest in playing Wonder Woman for James Gunn's DC Universe. With Gal Gadot not expected to reprise the superhero role from the DC Extended Universe, Moon Knight star May Calamawy has thrown her name in the hat.
Appearing as a special guest at the recent Comic-Con France, Calamawy was asked during the fan Q&a portion whether she was interested in portraying Princess Diana of Themyscira in the Dcu. "If they want me to play Wonder Woman, I’ll play Wonder Woman," Calamawy responded (via ComicBookMovie). "I wouldn’t want to take anything from [Gadot’s] or, like, anyone else’s performance," she added, going on to mention that she's only seen a few snippets of Gadot's performance from Wonder Woman 1984. "…I don’t even know, I haven’t really thought about what I would do as Wonder Woman."

One of Wes Craven's cult classics is getting a spiritual successor this summer in the form of A Breed Apart. Written and directed by The Furst Brothers, the survival horror comedy puts a new spin on 2006's The Breed, a film produced by the legendary Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream director that starred Michelle Rodriguez and followed a group of college kids on a "deserted" island where dogs were bred to kill. The new feature modernizes the concept, instead centering on a private island retreat where a group of social media influencers are confronted with man-eating beasts and forced into a deadly fight for survival that pits them against one another. We're excited to include the chilling survival flick as part of Collider's Exclusive Preview event for summer movies and share a new image highlighting two of the stars who will be thrown to the hounds on...

Late A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Last House on the Left and Scream director Wes Craven was responsible for some of the most iconic movies, characters and moments in horror cinema, but he was also behind his share of duds, and one of 'em is getting a (very) loose remake.
Craven didn't actually direct 2006's The Breed, but he was a producer on the film, and recruited his A New Nightmare assistant director Nick Mastandrea to helm. The movie was not well-received (to say the least), so it was generally assumed that a remake could only be an improvement.
The original movie focused on two brothers and their friends travelling to an island cabin they inherited from their recently deceased uncle for a relaxing weekend getaway. The group is then besieged by genetically enhanced dogs bred to kill via an abandoned training facility on the Island. A Breed Apart...

A former DC star is open to returning to James Gunn and Peter Safran's rebooted Dcu, and some fans think she would make for a great Wonder Woman. Actress Grace Caroline Currey previously played Mary Bromfield in 2019's Shazam!, and even got to suit up as the hero Mary Marvel/Mary Shazam (known in the film as Super Hero Mary) in 2023's Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Both films were set in the previous Dceu continuity, and with the franchise now getting a reboot with James Gunn's Dcu, the two Shazam! films and its semi-adjacent spin-off, Black Adam, are no longer part of the franchise's plans. Despite this, Currey hopes to return the superhero world someday.
Speaking with The Direct, Currey was asked if she would ever return to the DC Universe, with the interview specifically citing how fans have fan-cast her as Wonder Woman. "That's a loaded question.

Many DC fans hope to see Wonder Woman feature prominently in the new-look DC Universe. Though there's uncertainty surrounding when Wonder Woman will appear and how often she does, one Shazam! star linked to the role admits it would be "wild" if she got to play Diana Prince.
Speaking with The Direct, Shazam! franchise star Grace Caroline Currey addressed fan castings that have her portraying Wonder Woman in James Gunn and Peter Safran's Dcu. The Mary Marvel actor stated it was "nice" to be considered for such a significant role and is open to the idea. "That's been very nice to see people say that," Currey said. One of the last films in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe is finding success on Tubi. The free-to-watch streaming service has added Shazam! Released in 2023, Fury of the Gods serves as a sequel to 2019's Shazam! as the teenage superhero struggles to juggle his family and personal life with his responsibilities as a superhero. It has been a while since we’ve seen Wonder Woman in theatres, and it is such a shame that we never got to see the planned third installment with Gal Gadot in the lead. Fall, the psychological horror thriller starring Shazam!'s Grace Caroline Currey and the Beautiful movie series' star Virginia Gardner, is a streaming hit. The film has stayed among the most watched films on Hulu, and it shows no signs of stopping its climb to the top. Something pretty ironic, considering the film's thrilling plot.
Currently sitting in the fifth spot on Hulu's Top 10 Movies, Fall was directed by Scott Mann, a relatively unknown director who co-wrote it with Jonathan Frank. It stars Currey and Gardner alongside The Walking Dead's Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Scream's Mason Gooding, as well as Darrell Dennis and Jasper Cole in secondary roles. Fall follows two friends, Becky and Shiloh, who find themselves stuck at the top of a 2,000-foot-tall rusty broadcasting tower, and they can't find a way to communicate with someone or climb down.

The Fall movie ending provides a nail-biting climax to an intense, high-altitude story of survival that leaves some questions unanswered and some deeper meanings ambiguous. Fall revolves around a grieving mountain climber named Becky whose husband Dan fell to his death. A year later, her friend Hunter proposes climbing to the top of a decommissioned 2,000-foot TV tower to scatter his ashes, and Becky agrees in the hope that it will help her to move on. However, they ironically end up fighting for their own lives when they’re stranded at the top with dwindling hope of survival.
While it earned an admirable $21 million at the box office (via The Numbers), Fall didn’t really take off until it arrived on streaming a few months later. Fall was a surprise hit on the small screen, pulling in so many viewers that a Fall sequel has been confirmed. The way the...

Rachel Zegler's Snow White is expected to arrive in 2025, and even before the film hits the theaters, it has been shrouded with heavy criticism and controversy. The recently released trailer also seems to tease a magically infused The Hunger Games vibe with a suspenseful and dark soundtrack. Even though Zegler is still very new to the big screen, she has been featured in some of the biggest franchises. Back in June 2024, we learned that Fall stars Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey would be starring in an upcoming remake of the natural horror film The Breed. Well, guess who just joined the cast? Scream star Hayden Panettiere! She, along with several others, will be starring alongside Gardner and Currey in the new horror film.
Wait! We need to clear some things up about this movie first. It's not actually a remake. It was initially believed to be one, but instead, it's a sequel to The Breed. It's also been given an official title, A Breed Apart.
While it's still unclear who is writing the script for the film, filmmaking brothers Nathan and Griff Furst (Nightmare Shark) will be directing and producing via their Curmudgeon Films production company. In addition, Daro Film Distribution is signed on to co-produce and will be financing the movie as well.

With a sequel to the fear-of-heights thriller Fall on the way, Variety reports this week that the two stars of the 2022 movie will reunite for the upcoming remake of The Breed, a new take on the killer dog horror movie that was produced by Wes Craven back in 2006.
Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey will star alongside Page Kennedy (The Meg) in the remake that’s being directed by filmmaking brothers Sean and Bryan Furst.
The remake is described as “an unconventional reimagining of the Wes Craven cult classic,” though again the original movie wasn’t directed by Craven and isn’t quite a cult classic.
In any event, Curmudgeon Films will be producing The Breed. In the fresh take on the 2006 horror movie, “Violet [Grace Caroline Currey] is a rebel icon and badass on a mission to search for abandoned dogs on a remote island which leads to complete adrenaline-fueled terror.”

When the trailer for Fall debuted, it was safe to say the concept was totally ridiculous. It focused on Grace Caroline Currey's Becky and Virginia Gardner's Hunter scaling a 2000-foot radio tower in the middle of the desert, with the former hoping to get over her husband's tragic death and the latter doing it for social media clout, similar to the premise of Not Okay.
Still, the movie grounded itself in a sense of optimism as it unfolded, following science and logic despite Becky and Hunter's ridiculous plans. Unfortunately, common sense was a rare find in the movie, with Fall crashing badly through a series of plot holes and unanswered questions.
