His films have been nominated for a total of twelve Irish Film and Television Academy Awards, and won awards at multiple festivals worldwide. He has been nominated for a Screenwriters Guild of Ireland Award and was recognised with a Courage in Cinema award at the Santa Fe Film Festival for his work highlighting the issue of bullying of LGBT teens.
