Yumi Shimizu(I)

  • Actress
IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Yumi Shimizu began her modeling career at the age of 3 when she appeared in the Japanese national campaign for FUJI film. In the midst of her successful child modeling career, Yumi made her motion picture debut in "Sekai no Owari to Iu Na no Zakkaten," directed by Kiseki Hamada. That experience influenced Yumi to pursue her passion and talents as a professional actor. To date, her work includes a wide variety of feature films, TV episodics, TV commercials, and stage plays.

She has appeared in several feature films including "Mayonaka no Yaji-san Kit-san", "Aza Raifu", "Kaidan", "Hachimitsu to Clover", "Metasequoia no Ki no Shita de", "Gakincho Rock", and "Yume Nara Samete"

Yumi was awarded the best actress award in Yamagata International Movie Festival for her performance in "Sakura Umbrella", directed by Syun Cony. She has since stretched her acting range with light comedy in "Mayonaka no Yaji-san Kita-san" and with her ensemble work in "Maho Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto".

No stranger to the rigors of television, she has hosted NHK TV show "Chinese Conversation" and "Nyanchu to issho". She has also appeared in the high profile TV movie "The Cottage" and "Norowareta Kyoushitsu".

In pursuit of stronger and more dynamic acting roles, like those taken by Juliette Lewis, Natalie Portman, and Julia Roberts, Yumi Shimizu moved to Los Angeles, California in 2010. Between film projects, Yumi continues her international modeling career, featured throughout fashion magazine advertising in Asia, Europe, and the United States.
