Punchdrunk: Gearbox Tease New ‘Borderlands 2’ Character at SXSW

Gearbox revealed that a sixth playable character will be added to “Borderlands 2” when the game receives its fourth pack of downloadable content, Polygon is reporting.

“Borderlands 2” designer Jonathan Hemingway and director Matthew Armstrong led a panel at last week’s South by Southwest festival in Austin, TX, where they revealed a teaser for a new Vault Hunter housed “deep beneath Pandora.” Described as “an experiment,” the new character can be seen smashing and smushing his enemies into piles of bloody goop.

During the panel, Hemingway and Armstrong mentioned that the lack of a melee-focused Vault Hunter in “Borderlands 2” was a disappointment, which may be a hint that the new character might pick up where the original game’s Brick left off: punching things until they explode.
