Warning! Spoilers for Batman: Dark Patterns #2
The DC Universe is full of fictional cities, from Metropolis to Central City, but Gotham City is by far the worst one to live in thanks to Batman. Although Batman fights to protect the people of Gotham from its criminal element, his actions have intruded on the lives of those very people, suggesting that the city's infamously terrible living conditions are his fault.
In Batman: Dark Patterns #2 by Dan Watters, Hayden Sherman, Tríona Farrell, and Frank Cvetkovic, Batman faces off against the Wound Man after tracking him to the apartment of his next victim, Randall Jones. When Jones returns to his apartment, Batman bursts out the door with an unconscious Wound Man in tow.
After witnessing this absurd event, Jones wearily says, "This ******* city." His reaction, while hilarious, indicates that Gotham's citizens are tired of putting up with the Dark Knight's exploits in their city.

The classic rule that dictates Batman's vigilantism hangs in the balance with the arrival of a dark threat.

Amid the Batman burnout gripping comic fans, one new mini-series has shattered expectations, delivering everything that made Matt Reeves’s The Batman an instant hit. If you’re hungry for more of that gritty, detective-driven Dark Knight energy of the Reeves Universe while counting down to the October 2026 release of The Batman: Part II, this comic is exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
Dan Watters, Hayden Sherman, Tríona Farrell, and Frank Cvetkovic’s Batman: Dark Patterns #1 launches the Dark Knight’s latest mini-series, set in the early years of his career with the narrative following Batman as he tackles four mysterious cases all the while trying to cement his place as Gotham’s protector.
Even before its release, anticipation for the series was sky-high despite the so-called ‘Batman burnout' in comics. What sets this series apart from other ongoing Batman narratives is its promise to return the Dark Knight to his street-level roots,...

Nightwing has officially entered a new era in DC Comics, adopting crime-fighting tactics that are sure to earn Batman’s disapproval while making the Bat-Family’s resident anti-hero, Red Hood, pump his fist in solidarity. For the first time, Dick Grayson is walking the fine line between heroism and moral compromise, leaving fans to wonder: just how far will Nightwing go with his bold 'the ends justify the means' approach to protecting Blüdhaven?
Dick would essentially be using the inheritance from Alfred to fund the creation of weapons aimed at the very superhero community he and his allies are a part of.
Writer Dan Watters and artist Dexter Soy have launched a bold new era for Nightwing, thrusting the original Boy Wonder into a three-front war in Blüdhaven. Dick Grayson now finds himself battling gang wars, a militarized police force, and his latest adversary, Olivia Pearce, the CEO of...

DC’s Titans have abandoned Titans Tower in Bludhaven, trading it for a new base in a new city. The move hasn’t won over most of the team—especially after they passed up a coveted spot at the Justice League’s new Watchtower, settling instead for a base that feels more like something out of Batman’s playbook.
John Layman and Pete Woods’ Titans #18 is set to release on December 18, 2024, but until then, fans can get a taste with a four-page preview that drops a major bombshell—the Titans have a new base, and it’s the exact opposite of what they’ve always had before.
Over the years, Titans Tower has been located in various cities, from San Francisco to Jump City, and most recently Blüdhaven. No matter the city, their base has typically been a towering, sky-high, T-shaped structure. This time, however, the Titans are trading height for depth,...

Despite his name, the Joker is far from funny to most DC fans, with a sense of humor that’s more sadistic than amusing. For years, I could confidently say that nothing the Clown Prince of Crime had ever done or said had made me laugh out loud—so when I found myself genuinely cracking up at one of his ‘jokes,’ I was completely caught off guard.
I believe injecting some authentic, albeit twisted, humor into the Joker’s persona could be the key to reinvigorating his character.
Despite my appreciation for dark humor, I’ve never found the Clown Prince of Crime’s ‘jokes’ remotely funny—mainly because they aren’t meant to be. A core part of Joker's character is his obsession with humor despite lacking any trace of it, which only amplifies his menace as his amusement stems from the suffering of others, evoking disgust rather than laughter from readers.

Warning! Spoilers for Batman: Dark Patterns #1
The Joker is known to strike fear in the hearts of heroes and villains alike, and he's regarded as Batman's arch-nemesis for good reason. Now, though, a new villain has been introduced in Gotham who makes the Joker look like - ironically enough - a joke. The Wound Man is scarier than the Joker could ever dream of being, shifting Gotham's hierarchy of villains.

Each of the comics on this list either teases a new future for someone, shows the growth of a character, features something amazing happening, or a moment simply occurs that changes everything throughout its respective universe. One of the things readers love about Gotham is that the city is undeniably doomed, ensuring Batman stories remain vast and endless. Thanks to a four-page preview from DC, readers get an early glimpse of the issue—and a major confession from the Dark Knight. Even at the start of his career, Batman acknowledges Gotham is beyond saving, admitting that “[he] cannot save people from themselves.

/Film can confirm that "Universal Monsters: The Mummy" — a reimagining of 1932's "The Mummy" starring Boris Karloff — is rising up and shambling into comic shops next year.
This new mini-series is the fourth and latest horror comic partnership between Skybound Entertainment & Image Comics and Universal Products and Experiences. Since 2023, Skybound has been publishing a "Universal Monsters" thematic series that lets horror comic superstars reimagine the Universal Monsters across four issue mini-series. In keeping with the branding, the stories and monsters are styled specifically after the original 1930s Universal Horror iterations.
The first Skybound "Universal Monsters" comic was "Dracula" by writer James Tynion IV and artist Martin Simmonds. Next was "The Creature From The Black Lagoon Lives" by Dan Watters, Ram V, and artist Matthew Roberts." "Frankenstein" (written and drawn by Michael Walsh) wrapped up this past November and so "The Mummy" is the logical next choice.

Warning! This post contains Spoilers for Nightwing #120As much as I loved Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo's run on DC's Nightwing, I'm definitely sold on the new era that's come for Dick Grayson and his city. In the aftermath of Heartless' attack on Nightwing and those he protects, Dick Grayson received a triumphant conclusion for everything he'd been working and fighting for, both with and without his mask. However, Nightwing is now facing a brutal war that's coming from Blüdhaven (and I'm very excited about what's to come).
Coming from Dan Watters and Dexter Soy, the new era of Nightwing is here with only two issues having been published thus far (Nightwing #119 and #120). To that end, both issues have successfully kicked off a dynamic new arc for Dick Grayson who's now found himself caught in a battle that threatens the entire city. Nightwing may have just hinted at the Bat-Family’s next member, and if you’re a fan of his loyal puppy Haley, you’re bound to fall for this potential addition. What makes this new furry companion even more intriguing is their origin—eerily similar to Haley’s yet with a disturbingly unique twist. Now, all eyes are on the Original Boy Wonder to see if he’ll decide to officially welcome this little creature into the fold.
Dick rescued Haley from her harmful environment, it seems likely he will do the same for the rabbit.
With the full release of Nightwing #120 set for November 27, 2024, DC has unveiled a four-page preview of Dan Watters and Dexter Soy’s latest installment. Picking up where #119 left off, Dick Grayson faces Spheric Solutions’ deadly security system after a breaking-and-entering investigation goes sideways.

Although Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondos Nightwing run has ended, the new creative team is wasting no time in continuing the epic legacy of upgrading Dick Graysons iconic escrima sticks. Warning: Spoilers for Titans #17Nightwing has faced countless dastardly villains throughout his years as a crime-fighting vigilante, yet I never would have predicted the one he considers his nemesis. Batman has had more than enough experiences delving through asylums, the Joker's traps, and even the Riddler's torturous puzzles - but he's never been at the mercy of this kind of Saw-like torture. In a new cover, the Caped Crusader is going up against a killer like no other in comics. It's often said that Batman can beat any villain with enough prep time, but how prepared he would be against Jigsaw is any comic fan's guess.

Doomsday's most infamous moment in DC history is his killing of Superman, a groundbreaking sequence that's become a staple of the Man of Steel's history. However, that isn't Doomsday's first kill; there's another that carries just as much, if not more, thematic weight. The first murder committed by Doomsday defines his role in DC lore as an unyielding force of evil, proving that he is the moral opposite to Superman.

Warning: Spoilers for Detective Comics #1089!Batman has a long history of crime fighting, starting in tights and ending up in some surprising, world-shattering events. He's a flagship hero for DC, but that doesn't mean he's the most hero-like out of the Justice League. In fact, he's one of the darkest heroes DC has to offer, and his most recent version will have fans keeping their nightlights on.
It's been eighty-five years of Batman comics with dozens of versions of Batman, but he's finally transforming into a true symbol of the night in Detective Comics #1089 by Ram V, Dan Watters, Guillem March, Christopher Mitten, Luis Guerrero, Trona Farrell, Steve Wands, and Ariana Maher. The Orgham family's hold on Gotham is loosening as Batman and the rogues of Arkham begin to turn the tide of this all-out war. Batman fights his way to the center of their operations and takes hold of the Scarecrow's Jonathan Crane.

Warning: Spoilers for Detective Comics #1089 ahead!Batman's villains are too often defined by their obsessions and pigeonholed into stagnating roles, regardless of attempts to characterize them further. It's rare and noteworthy when an established character gets a chance to break the mold, which is why it's all the more impressive that Mr. Freeze has done so twice, finally moving on from the role cast for him by Batman: The Animated Series over three decades ago.
Detective Comics #1089 by Ram V, Dan Watters, Guillem March, Christopher Mitten, Luis Guerrero, Trona Farrell, Steve Wands, and Ariana Maher marks the conclusion of the epic Gotham Nocturne arc, featuring the Orgham family's attempt to excise Batman from the hearts and minds of Gotham and her people. As Batman sets Gotham to rights, the effects are felt by all manner of characters across the city - including Mr. Freeze, who has been Batman's reluctant ally during this endeavor.

Despite The Penguin taking place shortly after the events of The Batman and Bruce Wayne's overarching presence over Gotham City, the titular villain doesn't seem concerned about him. Lead star Colin Farrell claims his eponymous character is 'not thinking about the Bat' in the slightest as he's focused on too many things.

However, the Oscar-nominated actor claims Oz doesn't have Batman on his mind in the series.

The newest G.I. Joe miniseries from the Energon Universe is the darkest yet, as the arms dealer Destro takes the center spotlight. Previously appearing in both the Duke and Cobra Commander miniseries, Destro now gets his own five-issue limited series, and Skybound Entertainment has another winner on its hands. As a darker, more violent take on the G.I. Joe franchise, Destro succeeds primarily due to some excellent world-building and a compelling psychological portrait of the lead villain.

Mr. Freeze gets a perfect redesign for the next Batman movie, ditching the giant freeze suit for a more grounded look. The new cover art showcases a fusion of realistic and comic-book elements, making Mr. Freeze a fitting villain for the sequel.
