Review: The latest Happy Madison production for Netflix is a family affair with Adam Sandler producing and co-starring in a production led by a cast featuring his daughters, Sunny and Sadie, and his wife, Jackie. Based on the best-selling young adult novel You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah could easily have been written off as a nepotism project for the Sandler clan. But, with a heartfelt message and a theme reminiscent of classic Judy Blume, the film works far better than it has any right to. Sure, it has a few requisite moments of bathroom humor, as any Adam Sandler project is bound to feature, but You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah...

Adam Sandler's new Netflix movie makes an impressive debut with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating.
Sandler continues his lucrative actor and producer deal with Netflix with his latest movie You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, which has garnered critical acclaim thus far from early reviews from movie critics on Rotten Tomatoes. One of the reviews from United Press International reads, "Eighth-grade drama is universal, so You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah should appeal to people at any age in any family. It is the kind of movie that can stick with young viewers and have them quote it for the rest of their lives." Deadline Hollywood Daily's Pete Hammond added, "This film works as well it does because it is so grounded in the realities of this particular teen world and the TikTok generation," while THR's Frank Scheck called the film a "fun family affair.

Despite previous critically panned comedies under Adam Sandler's belt, You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah is surprisingly well-received, thanks to its genuine sweetness and amusing depiction of teenage girl angst. The film showcases Adam Sandler in "dad mode," humorously portraying a loving but uncool father who is out of his depth with teenage girls. You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah is a celebration of family, teenage girlhood, and Jewish culture, providing a relatable and endearing watch for younger audiences without over-explaining references.
Adam Sandler's next Netflix movie is being surprisingly well received among critics as first reviews surface online for You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah. When you look at Adam Sandler’s filmography, you might either think outrageous comedy or some seriously impressive dramatic turns in movies like Punch Drunk Love, Uncut Gems and Hustle. But for his latest Netflix flick, he is taking a back seat on camera by basically playing the beleaguered dad to his real-life daughters Sadie and Sunny Sandler, all in fictionalized roles but nevertheless all still in the family. Sandler’s real influence in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah is as a producer, and in this instance he has brought forward the right creative elements to make this adaptation of Fiona Rosenbloom’s YA book a complete delight.

The growing pains and dramatic throes of girlhood can be character building, traumatic, and cathartic — for both cinematic protagonists and their audience. It’s certainly not an easy time for the heroine at the center of “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,” whose impending rite-of-passage ushers in an adulthood she’s not quite ready to handle. Director Sammi Cohen and screenwriter Alison Peck bestow this hilarious, heartrending adaptation of Fiona Rosenbloom’s novel with an uplifting, effervescent vision and vitality, giving voice to a young Jewish girl’s struggle to figure out who she is before the most important night of her life so far.
Seventh grader Stacy Friedman (Sunny Sandler) is serious about her Bat Mitzvah … sorta. She’s put more thought into having a legendary party than studying the ceremonial text from the Torah. She has big dreams for a lavish New York City-themed bash,...

Adam Sandler's latest Netflix comedy is a family affair. While fans of the comedian are familiar with his wife, Jackie Sandler, appearing in many of his movies in small roles, when it comes to the upcoming "You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah," it's his daughters, Sunny and Sadie, who take center stage.
The new movie follows lifelong best friends Stacy (Sunny) and Lydia (Samantha Lorraine), two 12-year-olds determined to throw the best bat mitzvahs to ensure their adult lives start with a bang. But when a popular boy, Andy Goldfarb (Dylan Hoffman), comes between them, can their friendship and carefully laid party plans survive Hebrew school drama? Fans of Adam will get to see the comedian play his real-life daughters' dad in the movie and likely offer tons of humorous - yet sage - fatherly advice as all the teenage chaos and drama ensues around him.
