Summer is (almost officially) here! That means the Fantasia International Film Festival is inching ever closer. This year, the festival, which was recently included on Dread Central’s best film festivals on earth, will celebrate its upcoming 29th edition from July 16 through August 3, 2025, and today, we’re excited to share the second wave of titles coming to this year’s festival, as well as the recipient of their Canadian Trailblazer Award.
First, the festival opens with Ari Aster’s latest feature film, Eddington, which our Managing Editor, Josh Korngut, gave five stars out of Cannes. In terms of earnings, video games are the most significant source of entertainment worldwide, with millions and millions of fans. Which is a solid reason for Hollywood to think that if they make them into films, they will attract the same kind of audience and even though in the beginning it seemed like that they will never be able to make a good film based on video games but now it seems like they are getting the hang of things. We have compiled a list containing the names of the highest-grossing films based on video games, but just because they are in this and have earned a lot of money, doesn’t mean that all of them are good.

Chicago Med is gearing up for its season 10 finale. There are lots of story threads to wrap up with the current roster of characters, but showrunner Allen MacDonald knew what he was doing when he told TV Line that we will be seeing the return of a former Med star.
MacDonald confirmed that some "unexpected faces" will be in the mix for the finale. The final minutes of the hour will have some big shocks with lasting ripple effects," he explained. "It's going to be a very long summer for Chicago Med fans!" Since we have such an enticing lead to go on, we figured we'd go through the list of characters who are still alive, and determine how likely their return would be.

Sure, you're familiar with "Grey's Anatomy," the longest-running medical drama in TV history that premiered on ABC in 2005 as a humble mid-season replacement. Shonda Rhimes' soapy, steamy, and delightfully over-the-top hospital drama, led by Ellen Pompeo as the eponymous Dr. Meredith Grey, follows five surgical interns as they begin working at a major hospital in Seattle; after those interns become residents and attendings, the show keeps introducing new incoming intern classes as they're thrown headfirst into one of the most daunting and intense professions around. So, uh, what the heck is "Grey's Anatomy: B-Team?"
In January of 2018, a webseries called "Grey's Anatomy: B-Team" hit ABC.com, giving audiences a closer look at the 14th season's intern class. Introduced after the first few episodes of said season, Dr. Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli), Dr. Sam Bello (Jeanine Mason), Dr. Casey Parker (Alex Blue Davis), Dr. Vikram Roy (Rushi Kota), Dr. Taryn Helm (Jaicy Elliott), and Dr.

Exclusive: Grammy-nominated rapper Logic has boarded dark heist comedy Above the Line as an executive producer.
Logic’s producing partner Michael Holland also joins the project as co-executive producer.
The dark comedy tapping into Hollywood angst is the second feature of writer, director, and producer Jeffrey Scott Collins, after debut Poor Greg Drowning.
Described as combining the world of Swingers with the sensibility of Pulp Fiction, the L.A.-based comedy follows six Hollywood hopefuls who are roped into a harebrained plan to steal the Best Picture awards of a despised producer who has screwed each of them over as they struggle to make it big.
The film stars Cedric The Entertainer (The Neighborhood and The Last O.G.), Sophia Ali (Uncharted and The Wilds), Gregg Henry (Guardians of the Galaxy and Raising Cain), Adhir Kalyan, Reno Wilson, John Way and Jamie Lee (Crashing).
Collins directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Jono Matt. Ian Michaels (of America’s Burning) produced the film under the banner of Green Step Productions, plus Kemma Filby & Walker Barnes (of Bob Trevino Likes It) under the banner of Seasick Studios. Collins also produced under his production banner, This Seems Reel Entertainment.
“I have been a massive fan of the project ever since Michael sent me the script,” said Logic. “Jsc and I have a mutual love for the dark noir comedies of the 90s that have influenced this project. I’ve loved infusing my creative input into this film, and the music in it, and I can’t wait for the world to see it on the big screen.”
Collins said the collaboration worked on a number of levels.
“His music is not only bold, edgy, and incredibly entertaining, which is what we are striving for with this film, but his albums have always had an impressive cinematic quality to them, which I’m drawn to,” he said.
“He is a huge cinephile, and nerd, and the world will soon see how talented he is as a filmmaker. His creative input on the script, the characters, as well as the music, has been invaluable and we couldn’t be more excited about his and Michael’s involvement in the film”.
Cedric The Entertainer, who has worked with Collins on first feature Poor Greg Drowning, as well as the movie Why Him?, will also serve as Executive Producer. Other Executive Producers include Joe Grano, Ned Kisner, and Lan Kisner.

Tom Holland’s Uncharted may have had critics split, but the audiences were all in for our own Spider-Man’s treasure-hunting debut as Nathan Drake. While Sony clearly saw the goldmine potential, it’s no surprise that Uncharted 2 is officially on the way.
The first chapter gave us the origin story, introducing Nate’s leap from a lonely kid to a full-fledged adventurer, joining ties with Sully to beat the baddies to Magellan’s lost golden artifacts. Yes, the movie wasn’t a critical darling, it did hit big with viewers, proving there’s a serious appetite for Nate’s big hunt.

Tom Holland is a huge name in the industry right now. Though he has been acting since he was a child, he has shot up in fame since making his debut as everyone's favorite webslinger in Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2017. Since then, the MCU has become the pinnacle of Holland's career. Three of these movies have made it into the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time at the worldwide box office, including Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Despite his success in the MCU, Holland's other films have often struggled to gain significant traction. His YA adaptation series attempt with Chaos Walking, for example, was a massive flop and did not get a sequel. He also teamed up with Avengers co-star Robert Downey Jr. in the 2020 film Dolittle, which underperformed at the box office, making $251.4 million on an estimated $175 million budget. One Chicago is always good for a surprising death or two. The franchise traffics in very intense settings, whether it be a police station, a hospital or a firehouse, so there are bound to be instances in which characters put their life on the line. It comes with the job description.
Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago Pd have given fans shocking deaths throughout the years, but 2024 was different. None of the main characters from these shows died, but they were seriously impacted by the deaths that occured around them. As such, we decided to look back at the ones that had the biggest impact in 2024 (which means the tail end of the previous season and the first half of the current season!).

Persona managed to give me a shock before I even started watching it. Its IMDb entry lists it as running two hours and twenty-one minutes, which seemed a bit excessive for the film’s plot. Thankfully, when I put it on, the actual running time was a more reasonable hour and forty-two minutes, and even that was a bit longer than needed.
A woman wakes up with no memory of who or where she is. Where is a filthy house, one that looks like it’s been used as a squat for the homeless. Actually, it’s serving a much more sinister purpose, its doors locked and windows boarded up, it’s serving as a prison for her.

Mike Ho’s “Persona” (2024) is a kidnapping drama sans any color and texture. A woman wakes up in an unknown house. She has no recollection of the circumstances that transpired and has brought her there. She fumbles around for clues and markers that can give her a certainty or inkling of the stuff that has gone down here. Groping in the dark, she stumbles across another bruised woman, Samantha. It is only after some effort the woman recalls her name being Tricia.
What’s definite, however, is the reality of the house where the two are caged. The exits are all sealed up. But the ominousness of the captor lingers in the air. At any point, he may be back. There’s no real threat though the endangering man makes his appearance brashly. The film is essentially circling two women who are bracing themselves for the inevitable return of the kidnapper.

"Did we do something to deserve it?" "No one deserves this..." Gravitas Ventures has unveiled the official trailer for Persona, an indie horror thriller from director Mike Ho, mostly known for making many music videos over the last decade. Set for a VOD release in December if anyone wants to watch. Not sure why they needed to use the same Persona title as the iconic 1966 Ingmar Bergman film. A woman wakes up locked in a house, injured with no memory. She's terrified yet relieved to find a woman bound in another room. These two strangers must work together to figure out what's really going on before the door is unlocked. Who is coming back for her? Why are they locked up in this house? Starring Shanti Lowry and Sophia Ali, with Andrew Howard and Omar Gooding. This doesn't look so interesting - better to just rewatch Saw again. // Continue Reading...

When Chicago Fire first began in 2012, it was a fast-rising hit for Wolf Entertainment. A year later, Chicago P.D. began airing, and in 2015 Chicago Med was brought on board, rounding out a trio of procedural shows set in Chicago. Though their fourth show, Chicago Justice, lasted just one season, the One Chicago franchise as a whole has been a consistent NBC hit since premiering. As a franchise, One Chicago is one of television's best at crossovers from show to show, and viewers can likely expect more of their favorite characters appearing on each other's shows in the coming seasons. On Wednesday, September 25th, One Chicago will return for Chicago Fire's 13th season, Chicago P.D.'s 12th season, and Chicago Med's 10th season.

Iervolino and Bacardi were partners in Ilbe, the studio they co-founded and jointly ran for 13 years.
“With the launch of Taic, Iervolino has stepped down as president and CEO of Ilbe, the studio he co-founded and ran for the last decade, to focus on Taic,” Iervolino said in a statement. “He will remain available in a non-exclusive capacity to assist Ilbe with the transition of a new CEO.”
No reason for the falling out between Iervolino and Bacardi was provided in the statement.

With the nostalgic love for teen dramas like Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries, the teen drama genre has been struggling when it comes to newer entries. While the early 2000s to mid-2010s had several long-running, beloved teen dramas, the streaming era has led to a rut for the genre, with most teen-centered shows struggling to find their footing. Despite several teen dramas premiering in the last five years, none have managed to maintain the audiences of their predecessors.
A big reason many prefer to rewatch old teen dramas than give newer shows a chance is the inevitable chance of an early cancelation. Several teen dramas, new and old, are canceled way too soon, not being given the chance to build up an audience over time. Some of these shows deserved a longer run, as they couldve had the potential to become a classic of the teen drama genre.

Chicago Med is getting set for season 10 and it looks like one recurring character is coming back for it! Here’s what we know!
Fans of Chicago Med are used to characters coming and going over the course of the series. That was proven by word that Dominic Rains would be leaving the show as Dr. Crockett Marcel. It also appears that Luke Mitchell will now be a regular as Mitch Ripley.
The show is building for season 10 with some new cast members announced. Darren Barnet will play Dr. John Frost, a pediatric resident and Sarah Ramos comes on board as Dr. Caitlin Lenox.
Season 9 did have a couple of characters coming and going. Sophia Ali was prominently featured as Zola Ahmad, a new intern for Marcel and it looked like she might become a regular. However, Zola made a lot of mistakes as her beef with insurance companies led...

After a long wait from franchise fans, the Borderlands movie is here, but the wait may not have been worth it. In its opening weekend, Borderlands score on Rotten Tomatoes is just five percent, which is abysmally low for any film. Of course, anyone who uses that site knows there is often a wild disparity between the critics' score and the score given by audience members who rate the film.
While Borderlands' user score is 10 times better than its critical score, it's still not enough to be certified as "fresh" on the review quantifier site. Feature films are often adaptations from some other medium such as books, comics and even television shows. However, video games -- even those with powerful narrative elements -- rarely translate into great films. Despite Borderlands being a disappointment to critics, there are still films based on video games worth watching.

Uncharted 2 is a great chance to finally bring Elena Fisher into the movie franchise after the character's absence in the first film. Casting choices like Elle Fanning, Stephanie Hsu, Samara Weaving, and others could do justice to Elena's iconic character in the sequel. With Sony confirming the development of Uncharted 2, choosing the right actor to portray Elena is crucial for the adventures ahead.
Uncharted 2 is the perfect opportunity to introduce the most important missing character from the games, Elena Fisher, and from Amandla Stenberg to Kathryn Newton, there are many great casting choices for the role. With its cinematic action sequences, quippy leading man, and globe-trotting brand of adventuring, Naughty Dog's Uncharted videogame series always felt ripe for the blockbuster treatment. However, when treasure hunting cheeky chappy Nathan Drake first made the leap to the big screen with Ruben Fleischer's aptly titled Uncharted back in 2022, the Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg starring caper roundly fell flat with critics despite nabbing a cool $407 million worldwide at the box office. But now the one-time heir apparent to Indiana Jones' booby-trapped throne is getting set for another, er, crack of the whip, with confirmation coming today that Uncharted 2 is in the Sony pipeline.

Grey’s Anatomy has broken many hearts over its 20 seasons (and counting), but it’s also angered fans with how certain characters were written off. Realistically, no one wants to see their favorite character leave a show, but if it’s handled the right way, a good departure allows the legacy of the character to remain untouched.
While there are many factors that go into planning and handling a character’s exit, the final product can be hit or miss. Here are what we consider to be the worst and most unnecessary exits from TV’s longest-running primetime medical drama.
10. April Kepner
While April’s (Sarah Drew) departure in season 14 could be considered a “happy ending” for the character, it was deeply unsatisfying for viewers. She had apparently been dating Matthew (Justin Bruening), who she left at the altar, for months and didn’t tell anyone. That itself is surprising but...

There's always something going on in the world of Chicago Med. The NBC medical show has ratcheted up its drama in the last several seasons, to the point where it feels like all the characters must be constantly stressed out. Season 9, Episode 6, "I Told Myself That I Was Done With You," is an example of that -- because almost everyone is worked up about something.
"I Told Myself That I Was Done With You" features Zola Ahmad once again running afoul of the wrong people, while Maggie Lockwood bonds with the mother of a young patient in the wake of her own divorce and Sharon Goodwin gets some worrying news. The best subplot involves Mitch Ripley, who crosses a major line with his patient of the week. But all of these characters have the weight of the world on their shoulders, and it works better in some cases than others.

Uncharted 2 needs to introduce Elena Fisher from the games. Chloe Frazer's presence in the first Uncharted movie reflects their romantic past in the source material. Introducing Elena implies Tom Holland's Nathan Drake will have the happy ending of his game counterpart.
Uncharted 2 needs to delve further into the source material for the follow-up to 2022's movie and bring in a key character to Nathan "Nate" Drake's journey. The cast of the first Uncharted movie barely scratched the surface when introducing figures from the game series. While Uncharted 2 hasn't been officially confirmed yet, comments from those involved suggest it's a matter of when rather than a matter of if. Uncharted star Mark Wahlberg has provided another update on the forthcoming sequel to Sony's 2022 blockbuster hit.
Speaking with Screen Rant, the actor — who played Victor "Sully" Sullivan in the Uncharted adaptation — revealed that he had just received the script for the hotly-anticipated sequel, which will reunite him with co-star Tom Holland. "Actually, I just got a call today that they got the script in. I can't grow a real beard and mustache, but they said, 'Start growing your mustache. It's gonna take awhile,'" Wahlberg shared. "I'd be interested to see what the story's like, and where that adventure takes us. But I'm excited; I know audiences really loved the first one, so we'll see."

Yellowjackets fans must wait until 2025 for season 3, but The Wilds on Amazon Prime Video is a great alternative. The Wilds, created by Sarah Streicher, has an intriguing storyline, complex characters, and a unique mystery that will keep viewers hooked. Yellowjackets is on a long hiatus, and as fans patiently (or not so patiently) wait for the season 3 premiere, Amazon Prime Video has a show that contains similar themes and is the perfect replacement for the Showtime television series. Showtime's thriller drama premiered in late 2021 and immediately received acclaim from critics and audiences. It went on to receive numerous prestigious awards, leading to a season 2 renewal. The second season, which premiered in March 2023, performed as well as the first, and the network (unsurprisingly) ordered a third season, which won't arrive until 2025.
