Biography

Junior Singo ( born Nathaniel Junior Oliphant) was born in Chawelo, Soweto, South Africa. He grew up in the Mondeor area and started primary school at Laerskool WH Coetzer and finished primary school at Regents Park Primary School. During this time and the tender age of 12, he scored his first acting gig in the South African hit, Beat the Drum where he played the lead role of Musa. He completed his matric at Sir John Adamson High School. After matric, he decided to study sound engineering but dropped out owing to a few personal obstacles.

Junior attributes getting into acting to his mother, who is a creative director. His aunt was also instrumental because she told him about the auditions and together with his mother, pushed him to for the auditions. At the time, he had no intention of being in acting or landing on television as his focus was on the music.

Of his first audition and entering the entertainment industry at an early age, Junior said "Everything was just new to me. But I nailed the audition and got my first role in the entertainment industry." Through the support of his family, who encouraged him to go back to acting, he went for another audition and was chosen as one of the cast for a local drama called Hopeville. This major role opened the door to more opportunities.

As one of South Africa's few child stars who successfully transitioned to playing adult roles, he practically grew up before the eye of the public. He has appeared on shows such as The Wooden Camera, 4Play, 10 000BC, Heartlines, Zabalaza, Rhythm City, Zone 14, Intersexions and Generations The Legacy which he has been on since 2016.

Junior is a versatile creative who enjoys motivational speaking and event planning. He is also a serial entrepreneur and businessman with a wide array of business interests.

He generally inspires himself to push to new heights and do great work although he is surrounded by a lot of encouragement and support.

He remains passionate about music and has produced several tracks for South African rapper, Solo. He manages to find time to encourage and motivate new artists and actors because he believes in the power of upliftment. His social justice and empowerment drive is built around the ethos' Each One Lifts One'. He is an active supporter of the local orphanage, Nkosi's Haven. He is a proud father to a beautiful daughter and his favourite sport is mixed martial arts although he enjoys dabbling in other sports.
