The second Formula 1 race of the season is taking place on Sunday (March 23) in Shanghai, China.

Ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix, the drivers, team principals and more took time before the drivers parade to pay tribute to the late Eddie Jordan, who passed away this past week.

Eddie was a racecar driver before starting his own Formula 1 team, Jordan Grand Prix in 1991, where he gave Michael Schumacher his debut season.

Current F1 drivers, including Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and reserve driver Zhou Guanyu, Mercedes’ George Russell, Alpine’s Jack Doohan and more all took a moment prior to the race to honor the late, iconic team owner.

“We are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Eddie Jordan,” F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali previously shared in a statement. “With his inexhaustible energy he always knew how to make people smile, remaining genuine and brilliant at all times.

Eddie Jordan, a much-loved BBC racing commentator and Formula 1 boss, has died from prostate cancer. He was 76.

Jordan’s family told the press that he “passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20 March 2025.”

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan OBE, the ex-Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit and entrepreneur,” said the statement.

Jordan was known for his flamboyant character and was beloved by F1 fans for his commentary.

Born in Dublin in 1948, he was a racing driver in the 1970s and went on to found the Jordan Grand Prix in 1991. His team, which made its debut in 1991, won four grands prix in its 15 years before being sold in 2005.

Having been involved with various Formula 1 teams, Jordan became a pundit for BBC Sport’s Grand Prix program in 2009 and became well known for his commentary and analysis.

The BBC is pumping the brakes on Top Gear.

The British public broadcaster announced Tuesday that the veteran car show — which airs Stateside on BBC America and was most recently hosted by Freddie Flintoff, Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris — is being put on “rest” for the foreseeable future.

Who doesn’t love watching a series that tells the true-life (or at least somewhat true-life) stories of real people? That’s what HBO’s hit series “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” provides for NBA fans, Angelenos and TV viewers alike.

“Winning Time” doesn’t feature any of the real-life people that the series depicts, though some of the actors bear striking resemblances to their counterparts.

The show has a massive cast, with Quincy Isaiah (Earvin “Magic” Johnson”), John C. Reilly (Jerry Buss), Adrien Brody (Pat Riley) and others taking center stage as leads. A representative for Matt LeBlanc last week denied rumors that the actor had issued an ultimatum to the producers of Top Gear, saying that the actor did not, as was widely reported, threaten to leave the show if his co-host, Chris Evans, was not fired. Denials aside, Evans was, in fact, fired this week, leaving LeBlanc as the sole host of the BBC auto series.

LeBlanc's addition to the series this season was part of a retooling of the show that included the installation of Evans as host. However, the new format proved extremely unpopular, and the series' ratings have been in freefall. Evans was the target of most most fan criticism, and he was first to go as producers attempted to fix the problem.

Chris Evans has stepped down as a cohost of the BBC’s Top Gear, following weeks and weeks of rumors that there was friction between him and fellow presenter Matt LeBlanc.

As recently as late June, there was talk that LeBlanc had threatened to walk away from the motoring series himself, due to what sources called a “frosty” atmosphere among the presenters as well as Evans’ jealousy toward his castmates.

Newly minted “Top Gear” host Chris Evans is leaving the show after just one season. “Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that’s not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best,” Evans tweeted on Monday. “Full steam ahead then with Radio 2, CarFest, Children In Need, 500 Words and whatever else we can dream up in the future.” Evans partnered with Matt LeBlanc as the new hosts of the long-running BBC series earlier this year. Fans following this year's Formula 1 season coverage will be able to choose from a selection of different cameras for viewing the action.

BBC Sport will provide unprecedented live streams from several parts of Grand Prix tracks on web-enabled devices.

There are now five different video options on top of the usual live TV coverage, with viewers able to watch from the pit-lane camera, follow the driver tracker or watch a stream from on-board cameras.

Options to watch TV pictures with Radio 5 live commentary over the top and a timing screen are also available.

The all-access coverage will be open to audiences through the BBC Sport website and via the BBC Sport apps for mobiles, tablets and connected TVs. The live pit-lane camera will also be available through the red button.

Add documentary narrator to the list of things Michael Fassbender is probably better at than you’ll ever be.

The Golden Globe nominated actor who starred in Inglourious Basterds, X-Men: First Class, Shame, and an upcoming untitled Terrence Malick film, will now provide narration via his timbre British accent to a documentary about Formula 1 racing entitled 1.

Fassbender was picked for the job because he himself is actually a Formula 1 racing fanatic.

Long time Formula 1 enthusiast and Golden Globe nominated actor, Michael Fassbender, has signed on to narrate Exclusive Media's Spitfire Pictures' new documentary film 1, it was announced today by the film's producer and Exclusive Media co-chairman Nigel Sinclair and fellow producer Michael Shevloff together with director Paul Crowder.

Fassbender, is the German-Irish actor who stars in Inglourious Basterds, X-Men: First Class and Prometheus. For his acclaimed performance in Shame he won the Best Actor Award at the Venice Film Festival and was nominated for a Golden Globe and BAFTA Award. He recently completed shooting Terrence Malick's latest and untitled film with Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Natalie Portman and will shortly begin production on Jane Got a Gun also starring Natalie Portman and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Gerard Butler will be taking part in tonight’s “The Legends” Celtic vs Manchester United charity match in Glasgow.

Butler – a lifelong Celtic fan – will join stars such as Kyle Falconer, Gordon Strachan, Billy Connolly, Wayne Rooney, Rod Stewart, Eddie Jordan, Sharleen Spiteri, Dougray Scott and Paolo Nutini in giving his support to the match.
